About those hypothetical auto-interview stats (>35, >=3.7, if they exist at all), I think the calculation is more flexible than that, as I certainly don't have a 3.7...

Their office must really be on the ball. It took 3 business days from submission of the secondary (8/28, late at night, probably) to interview invite (9/3).😱😱😱

my interview is on a day where both MS1 and MS2 have exams - i might have a rough time finding someone. 🙁 but i'll give it a try.

I have a 35 and 3.8 but it took more than two weeks for me... Does that mean that they actually reviewed my application, or what?😕

Does anyone have the MSAR stat for UPitt? More specifically, the range of GPAs and MCAT that they accept? Thanks!!

My secondary file was completed 7/31, and my status of "invited to complete the secondary" hasn't changed yet...am I waiting for a rejection letter at this point? UP was VERY efficient, even with an email question I sent in...up to this point! ...was going to put a sad face, but I like the dancing banana better.

ooo, I mean UPitt, not to be confused with UPenn - is UP right for one or the other? I'm from Oregon, so I need a little help now and then.
:insert redneck smiley:

Just go with "Pitt." It's easier 🙂

Where do we meet for the interview? Do we go to the admissions office room 518 Scaife Hall? Thanks. *

Yeah mine didn't change for a month and a half...don't worry, I guess they are still looking at it.

Does anyone know the stats from interview--->acceptance?

Just completed my secondary for Pitt (I was not verified until late August:scared:). I really struggled with the diversity essay, being a white middle-class female, so I just talked about the variety of my life experiences. I don't play an instrument or sing, but I do have a fairly impressive yoga practice. I didn't think it would be appropriate to mention I could put my leg behind my head.🙄

I am really excited about this school! A friend of mine had a hard time choosing between Pitt and Northwestern. In the end he chose NW, but he loved the people at Pitt.

Now if only my advisers would get my LOR packet out!!!!😡

Keeping my fingers crossed and hope to see guys at Pitt!

"Invited to complete supplemental application."

Does that disappear when you are officially complete? Or does that disappear when they have a decision? So far, I've had all necessary documents received for 2 weeks now, just wondering what I should expect.

I've been complete forever and mine still says that. You just need to wait as the medical school gods decide.

Has anyone interviewed at Pitt with a 33 MCAT or lower than a 3.7??

I submitted 8/5/08 with a 33 MCAT, 3.66 total gpa (3.33 sc, 3.91 ao- rough freshman year!), from pittsburgh, lots of undergrad research, currently doing a year at the NIH in DC. Any thoughts on my chances of getting an interview!?

Complete 7/28, Interview Invite 9/23 ....only have a 32 MCAT and a 3.95 science GPA. Don't give up hope yet!

I interviewed there in the 2006-2007, and 2007-2008 cycles with stats lower than 33 and 3.7.

So does Pitt send emails when you are complete? Or can you just assume that if all your materials are marked as received, you are complete?

Wow, we have really similar applications (I even lived in pitt for a year), I really want an interview at Pitt too, I'm just hoping that they're going through the high stat people before they get to us. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as the above posters and really hoping for an interview too but with slightly lower numbers: 34, 3.6 rounded up

Has anyone had an interview invite without submitting a secondary? this is the weirdest thing ever. I was planning on withdrawing from Pitt and I got an invite today even though my status is incomplete since I haven't sent in a secondary or LORs... has this happened to anyone else? I guess I have to complete these essays ASAP UgH

Wow...please don't think of completing the secondary as a chore, especially if you already got an invite. Not everyone is as lucky as you! Congrats, btw!

i am very grateful of course but I'm just so surprised. I kind of think this might be a mistake but oh well =) I guess after doing sooo many essays I don't always look gleefully at adding more, but I'll happily do it if it isn't a mistake

I received an interview invite three days after my file was complete and interviewed this week. 28 MCAT, 3.7 gpa... not URM.

Wow they waived my secondary fee too! They just seem so nice over there. They just pushed up to my top 3 schools haha

has anyone interviewed yet? how was it? I fly out there tomorrow!!

I will keep my fingers crossed for us! Let me know if you get an interview and I will do the same-

For those of you who will be in Pittsburgh, some local restaurants (within walking distance of the medical school) to give you a feel for the campus include:

Primanti Bros.
The Original Hot Dog Shop (get the fries)
Peter's
Mad Mex

There are other places to eat around there, but sometimes the quality is iffy.

Hi, random question,
Does anyone have any idea on the percent acceptance if you interview before Oct.15th (when the first decisions are mailed out?)
TX ALL!

I second the Primanti Bros' suggestion. You haven't tasted Pittsburgh until you eat a sandwich loaded with french fries inside.

Also, if you want a good breakfast, try Pamela's, which is a few blocks from Primanti Bros on Forbes.

French fries INSIDE of a sandwich? That's downright genius.

Definitely going there.

Does anyone know exactly how far the interview season extends to? I'm getting nervous because I saw invites into late Nov (assuming those are the earliest dates to available) and I remember someone mentioning around January is when it all ends?

My best friend interviewed in February and got in I think. Don't panic...things start slowing down a bit after the rush of applications early on 🙂

If we interview this week, anyone know if we will be able to find out if we get accepted by Oct 16th?

When I was at my interview this past Monday, they stressed that it would take 6 weeks for them to make a decision. I'm sure there maybe some exceptions...

I got an interview invite today...😍 I've never felt so personally validated in my life 🙄 I was complete 9/24 and never thought I'd have a chance. There's hope out there for people with lower GPAs (3.5 BCPM/3.6 CUM)/non-URM status yet! Hope to see some of you out there in December..and good luck to everyone else waiting 😛

Hi-

Sorry if I asked this in an earlier post but, just wondering if anyone has any idea what percent of already interviewed people are placed on the waitlist? In other words, I've been told the later in the cycle you wait, the greater the likelihood you will be placed on the waitlist. If this is true, then what percentages are we looking at earlier vs later in the cycle?
What a complicated way of putting that!
Sorry! 🙂

Not published and no data. All we know is their overall data.

I just got back from their interview day and it was AMAZING.

I <3 this school.

Hiya,

Does anyone know if sending thank you notes to your interviewers really matters and if anyone's ever heard of an interviewer writing back (in any form) to applicants who did send thank you notes.
Weirdest questions ever, huh?
Tx!!! 🙂

No, by the time they get the note the ADCOM has most likely already met. I wrote them because I consider it good business etiquette, but they don't have any effect on your application.
