Hmmm, I was looking at that too. I'm wondering if they are trying to play catch up with the early interviewers. My husband interviewed on 9/10 and he still hasn't heard anything... hopefully today will be the day. Waiting stinks!! 👎

actually, i studied psych during my undergrad at ohio state. i graduated in june, and now i'm an msw (master of social work) student .... so, no relation to pitt. i enjoyed our visit though!
 
interviewed 9/22, ACCEPTED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just wanted to chime in: i grew up in the pittsburgh area and wanted to endorse it for anyone who questions living here. between the resources available through UPMC, the low cost of living, and the friendly locals, the university of pittsburgh would be a terrific place to attend med school. congrats to those accepted and/or interviewed so far -- you'll love the 'burgh!

Ugh, I don't understand interviewing someone early, and then straight up rejecting them right away, but it seems to happen way more often than you'd think.

I think they only update on Thursdays. I would check tomorrow.
 
Any news about decisions today? I'm pretty sure that I find out today, but my status hasn't changed yet. :scared:

I'm in the same situation as you. Did you interview 9/24? We probably met... lol.

When I interviewed (10/3), they said to send them a letter at the 6 week point if no word to make sure things were ok. They may have just misplaced your stuff ( they do have around 5000 apps to deal with)

Just checked the status page. BTW, I interviewed on 9/24.

Upenn yesterday and Upitt today. Pennsylvania is gooooooddd.

Yeah. But remember, it also depends on how on the ball the interviewers were.
 
Waitlisted. I guess I shouldn't be surprised; my interview went terribly. 🙁

What do you mean by that? How on the ball? How can your interviewer delay your results given that they have 6~8 weeks.
 
Look back in this thread, one of the Pitt students said applications could be delayed getting to the committee if the interviewer turns in the review late...

Just my interpretation of his/her remarks I guess.

Oh no...I am surprised! You are clearly an extremely qualified candidate based on the number of interviews and the schools that you are interviewing at. Would you mind sharing with us what happened? I was under the impression that the Pitt interview was supposed to be "conversational"....now I am terrified!

yeah...the committee can't make any decisions until they get the interview feedback.

as unbelievable as it sounds, it's easy to take forever getting the feedback in. i should be better about typing it up right after the interview, but other things often end up taking priority. also, i like to take a few days to think about how i want to write up my review--which is definitely in your favor. it would be bad if i didn't put much thought into it.

usually, i can get my review in within a few days. but during test weeks...it'll probably take longer.

my worst was taking 3 weeks to get it in. terrible, i know--but i was dealing with a death in the family and illness and exams, so i kinda forgot about turning in the feedback! i got a reminder email from the admissions committee and turned it in right after that.

i promise you, if you haven't heard yet, it's not an insult to you! i know it's really hard to wait so long. think of it as working on your ability to be patient...which will definitely come in handy when you're trying to get a history from someone in the hospital who just wants to talk about how amazing metal detecting is 🙂

Sorry to hear that. But keep your perspective. 1) it's not a rejection, 2)Pitt is a very competitive school, 3) they interview a lot of amazing applicants.

And I mean no offense, but according to your mdapps page, the schools that you think you are qualified for but haven't heard from are extremely competitive. You have great stats but it's not just about the numbers.

If you are seriously questioning your desire to be a doctor because you were waitlisted at Pitt, you may need to re-evaluate how badly you want this. All of us will ultimately face a lot of rejection in this cycle, but if you really really want it, then that shouldn't deter you.

Does anyone know if Pitt just ends up putting nearly everyone on the waitlist?

Previous posters have indicated that they have been rejected post-interview...so not EVERYONE is waitlisted.

However, as to the proportion waitlisted v accepted v rejected, I don't think anyone has any idea, and I doubt the admissions office would tell you if you asked. You can give it a shot, though.

I haven't seen a post for acceptance pre-noon for the last two weeks. I'm not sure if that is because of release time or because of posters' lunch breaks.

I'm hoping they get to 10/6 today.... Fingers crossed!
 
Any news from SDNers today? It's 12:44 EST, so I am assuming any news would be out.....

Still listed as under review (interviewed 10/1, expecting status page change today), so I think that either it takes time to change everyone's status or that they don't use noon as a release time.

yea i also interviewed 10/1 and was def waiting for a decision today, but it looks like no luck... maybe next week then 🙁 anyone interview the first week of october (or like 9/30) heard anything back yet??
