also 6 wks for me. no news. guess it will either be next week or the week after.

Pitt keeps getting my hopes up with all of these random emails 😡

(pdf brochure seems to have some new info in it, though)

^Yeah, don't get your hopes up. I'm on the waitlist and I got the same thing 🙁🙁.

Hopefully you will have better luck than I did, though 😳.

when did you interview, and when did then give you a decision?

i was there on 9/29....seems like that was ages ago.

Yeah, that WAS ages ago, wow. I interviewed 9/15...I got my decision some time around 10/21 or shortly after that. I don't remember the exact date.

The stupid email said greetings, so I thought it was an acceptance, but it was just an article. It got my hopes up for nothing...🙁

For all of you folks who applied but got rejected, would you mind sharing why you think it happened? Was the rejection a surprise? Did anything bad happen in your interview?

Just checked my status. they can't offer me an interview. so this confirms that i will never visit pittsburgh in my life. i would be upset about this. but northwestern's got my back.

little surprised to not get an interview (4.0/39S). Probably not a good fit. Thoughts?

I just interviewed there yesterday and Pitt is 😍

They said they were backed up at least 6-8 weeks, and not to expect news any earlier.

Rejected. Bummer.

Interviewed 9/30.

Accepted. Interviewed the first week in October.

I'm posting because my status page was definitely updated today (as opposed to yesterday). Go check and good luck!

It's only been four days and I'm already going crazy. No way I last eight weeks in Pitt-limbo...

Congrats, CourageKid!

apparently Pitt updates their status on Fridays too because mine just changed to CONGRATULATIONS YOUVE BEEN ACCEPTED. holy moly.

Interviewed 10/1 here.... no decision still... not very promising 🙁
Anyone still waiting to hear from 10/1?

So... I'm sitting here kind of going crazy as I wait to hear back from a 10/10 interview and I'm wondering... (by the way, contratulations, I'm just a bit jealous over here!) did you get an e-mail from Pitt first, or did they update your status online first? Did they send you an e-mail at all, or do you just have to keep checking your online status?

Based on the posts above, I know I probably have at least a solid week to go, if not more (especially if they don't count the week of Thanksgiving due to vacations...), but I'm just trying to limit my neurosing as much as possible. The waiting is just killing me... 6 weeks with no news at ALL from any schools... :scared:

They do not email you. They send surface mail and update the status page. I guess people say that the page updates on either Thurs. or Friday. So, don't expect an email at all.

I interviewed 10/1 and mine updated yesterday, but a good friend of mine interviewed on the same day and still hasn't changed. The admissions office said its totally dependent on how often your interviewer can make it to committee meetings.

Dear University of Pittsburgh,

If I were to be graced with an acceptance from your school I would immediately withdraw my applications from all other schools and start planning a move to Pittsburgh.

Pretty, pretty, pretty please let me in.

Best,

Chuck's Right Foot

still waiting to hear from 9/29 😡
tomorrow will be 8 weeks exactly

We may be out of luck. Admissions people do in fact celebrate Thanksgiving as well.

Ack! You mean they are human?

I called to see if they were meeting earlier in the week or not... Didn't really get any info though.

My guess is that the office will be closed Wednesday through the weekend since we're all on break as of tomorrow evening.

So relax this week and enjoy your big turkey dinners!

So it's true? No one's heard anything thus far this week?...

Not a peep!

Not a peep!

myuuchan, when did you interview? also, did you think your interviews went well?

I think myuuchan interviewed 10/1.

Myuuchan--- If we both go to Pitt, at least I know at least one person with similar interests (Joss Whedon, Martial Arts, and WIN).

Was I the only one watching the Pitt game earlier and imagining/hoping myself in the stands next year?

Psh bball is where it's at.

College football is a joke until they implement a playoff system.

Hey, you take that back!

I don't disagree with the need for a playoff system, but even with the current BCS system, football >>>> basketball.

Hey people
Did anyone get a snail mail letter from Pitt (I'm post interview) basically summing up why it's such a great place to be?

Except you'll be in the Big East, where our football is horrible, but the basketball is amazing.

I can still cheer for crappy football teams. I grew up a Dolphins fan after all.

NFL > NBA, agreed, but march madness itself > college football. Now if there was a "New year's madness" for college football, that wouldn't screw countless awesome teams from a shot at winning the title while also providing weeks of playoff entertainment, then we'll talk.

Countless awesome teams? A ridiculous 65-team playoff renders the regular season completely irrelevant, and the beauty of college football is that every game matters and every week is exciting. Any playoff should include 8-12 teams only, preserving the significance of both the regular season and post-season. March Madness is only interesting because everything beforehand is meaningless.

Yeah, and the current 2-team playoff renders almost every team's entire season irrelevant. Countless was an exaggeration, but any team that's even ranked should get a shot at the national championship. Every game matters and every week is exciting if you keep winning. But if you lose a couple games early your season is over, unless you count "exciting" as fighting for a 2nd or 3rd place bowl game.

A 65-team playoff doesn't make anything "completely irrelevant," it just allows the opportunity for monumental upsets, which are exciting. No one's gonna feel sorry for a 1 or 2 seed who loses in the first round, and no one's gonna whine that playing a crappy 15 or 16 seed makes their entire awesome season "irrelevant." Or you could start the playoffs on day 1 of your season like in college fb and on every week, half the teams will become irrelevant.

In summary: CBB places too much emphasis on the post-season, and CFB makes the regular season too damning. Neither is perfect in its current form.

I'm not really sure we're disagreeing on this analysis. Can't we just hug and agree on our love for Pitt instead? 😉
