There's the Toledo airport, about 20 min away from campus. There's a Hilton on campus.

The OOS waitlist generally moves pretty well, but it doesn't really start moving until after May 15. I think that's when they officially rank it. I'd say top third, you've got a good shot. Middle third, fair. Lower third, not too good.

(I was on the OOS waitlist and pulled in early July, btw)

hey, i was wondering, since you didn't get pulled until July, did you already have your primary apps for the next year sent in? or were you already accepted at other schools and didn't have to worry about it. I am currently on two waitlists and was just wondering if i should reapply after graduation in June even if there's a chance I could get in off the waitlist, or should I just wait a little longer. any advice?

I was pulled in early July, but was holding acceptances elsewhere.

However, that was not my first application cycle.

Here's a trick I picked up somewhere on SDN that works pretty well if you're on waitlists...

Get all your application materials together, get your personal statement revised and fill in everything on AMCAS. Order the transcripts, jump through all the hoops.

Then, submit AMCAS... but only designate a single school. That way you're only out $160 (or however much it is), but you're still getting your app verified early. Once your application is verified, you can add more schools for $30 (or whatever) and it doesn't take any extra time to get the app out to the schools you've added. That way, you're buying yourself time to see if the waitlists pan out, but once it gets late enough that you feel like you need to pull the trigger on a reapplication cycle, you can get your info to schools instantly as opposed to waiting 4 weeks for AMCAS verification.

That's what I would do. (and did do when I was in your situation a few years back)

thanks so much! good luck on your first exam!

Has anyone received any financial aid information yet? I haven't, but would like to know how much I can spend on an apt, car, etc. I was accepted over a month ago.

My daughter called last week to inquire about her aid. They told her they were working on the packets now and will continue for the next two weeks.

We should know Monday or Tuesday how we rank on the alternate list! :scared:

hmm, I wonder if they would be able to tell us over the phone... I dont wanna wait until snail mail... thats lame...

accepted today via email. IS applicant

Yea, I got an email as well... it says that I am in the high priority section of the alternate list. Anyone have any idea what that means? How many sections are there? Just 2?

Depakote, do you remember what section you were placed in last year? I know you said you were pulled in july

Just got an email and I am also placed on high priority waitlist. Not sure how many section they have( probably high, medium n low). What are the chances of acceptance for high priorty alternate list?

I got an email this afternoon giving me my waitlist ranking too. Does anyone know how many categories they have for their waitlist ranking system and what they are?

This would be 2 years ago now (2007)... but I was "high priority" as well.

My understanding is the alt list is divided into thirds. "high priority" being the best place to be...

Middle third, you still might have a shot.

Bottom third, I'd realistically start exploring other options. Sorry, but I've been there.

highest priority, higher priority, high priority.

Okay, I just called to confirm what Depakote had said, and he is correct that there is a high, medium and low 🙂 So :luck: to everyone, and heres to good waitlist movement!

Got the high priority e-mail as well. Good luck all.

Is anyone not on the high priority list?

Is everyone high priority? That kind of defeats the purpose of the ranking...

lol, I sure hope we just represent the small minority... I'm sure thats the case, as it usually is with SDN...

This does seem odd ...

There is probably significantly less self reporting for low priority, and even the mid level. Plus, SDNers are probably the most zealous of applicants - not the best sample to extrapolate from.

There are 161 students on the alternate list, so assuming they break up each priority level evenly (don't know if they do) there will be about 50 in each group. I'm also in the high priority group IS. Like someone said earlier medium and low priority would probably be less likely to report. Hopefully there will be a lot of movement this month.

Did someone in the admissions office tell you that there are 161 students on the alternate list?

Yes, I emailed them and asked how many students were on the alternate list and how deep they typically go into their list. They told me 161 and to check back in a few weeks to see how the list is moving because there is so much variation year to year.
