I'm fine, just a bit stressed. As long as I get in somewhere, other than UTSW and UTH I'll be happier... I do have my preferences but I will not be making them known until I get into or am rejected by my top choices.

Haha thanks. And I promise I'm not completely awkward, I have a normal life that involves friends and going out and things other than SDN.

I'm constantly trying to stop obsessing, it's a slow process but I have to start it some time.

Accepted today, got the call at 7:30 pm.

Hold, as in you got a waitlist letter?? Please elaborate on your "hold" if you don't mind. Congrats by the way! 😀 ha
 
Yea, scg, did you get the "waitlist/deferred" letter a few weeks ago and then get the acceptance call today?


I went to check my cell. I had 1 voicemail. It wasn't Vandy. 🙁
 
It was that really ambiguous letter that no one knew if it was a hold or waitlist I think. I believe it was the one that said "you have many strengths but we can't accept you right now" or something like that. (or that might've been case)

I don't have the letter with me right now and I'll be leaving tomorrow morning for an interview but I can find out for you guys when I get back on Saturday.

Do you remember when you got the letter? It gives all of us hope to know that somebody who got the ambiguous letter later got accepted. Congrats!!!
 
Just listened to my voicemail - message from Dr. Zic at 9.14pm EST last night. I'm in!! So stoked.

Interviewed 10/14.

NICE! Yea the "The Committee took note of your many strengths and accomplishments" but "we cannot offer immediate invitation at this time" letter is definitely the one all of us got. Good stuff scg, did you send any kind of update or LOI??

Congrats guys! So it's closer to 6 weeks post interview that we should expect to be hearing back?

No, I didn't send a LOI or any updates but I'm stupid. I strongly recommend you guys to.

I interviewed on the same day as you! We must have met 😛
 
So I got an interview invite today in the mail. I was originally really stoked until I really sat down and thought about how many people have already been accepted and how late I am.

Do you all think I'd essentially be interviewing for a waitlist spot?

There really aren't that many that have been offered acceptances...so I don't necessarily think that that is what you would be interviewing for. I say complete the secondary and interview at Vandy, because I think you will fall in love....

Can anyone tell me something about Vanderbilt's acceptance/rejection/waitlist post interview? I interviewed there mid September and have not heard anything yet.
 
Has anyone else gotten a request to fill out a second background check approval form? I'm a little bit confused because I thought I already did the Certiphi background check.

Yes, I also received this, even though I completed the Certiphi background check months ago and gave them permission to release it to schools. I'm thinking Vanderbilt is just being formal and asking for permission to view the Certiphi background check, and it almost seemed like they were going to do one for themselves, too. I'm not sure. But, just agree and all will be well.

yay i got into vandy!!!! interview: 10/6.
 
This has probably been well established. But you get a call for an acceptance. Do you get an email or a letter if you get waitlisted?
 
i didn't get a phone call, and i didn't get a waitlist letter. i got my acceptance letter in my mailbox at home. my dad actually opened the letter and then called me. completely unexpected; i thought i had gotten waitlisted since some other person posted a 10/14 interview date and acceptance before i got my letter.
 
Weird that you didn't get the phone call. I interviewed on either the 13th or the 14th. Haven't received anything yet, but was sure it would be bad news. Now you've given me some hope, which, of course, will make the inevitable bad news much worse. 😛

For those of us who have already been waitlisted, we shouldn't expect any other mail from Vandy except Acceptance/Rejection, right? Do they send out updates like, "You're still waitlisted." lol
 
Yeah - Vanderbilt was definitely among my top choices; it's such a relief to get into a great school like this..now I know that even if every other school rejects me, I'll be going to medical school at Vanderbilt!!!

Retsage: If you look back on this thread, you'll see that I had a rather unique situation - I interviewed in August, but I had my picture uploaded in mid-October and so my review period started then..It was as if I interviewed on October 20th instead of the end of August.

Correct, you get one waitlisted/defered letter and then they won't you send anything else until the final verdict.
 
I interviewed 10/10 and I haven't heard anything. Is it safe to assume I'm not gonna hear till the next batch of accept/waitlists? The only reason I can think of for the delay is I didn't send in my picture until a few weeks after they requested it, but that seems like a rather trivial hindrance.

As trivial as it sounds, you may have to wait awhile. There were several people on this forum who had forgot to turn in their pics. Turns out there app wasn't complete and it wasn't marked complete until the sent the picture. Thus your review time is pushed back. You may not even hear during the next waive. Sorry. Best of luck.
 
I interviewed 10/13 or so and have yet to hear anything either.
 
I feel kind of bad about this whole turn of events with Vanderbilt. I believe that it's by far the nicest school that I applied to. Unfortunately, it was my very first interview, and I was pretty nervous. Looking back, I can see how I have gotten much betters at interviewing, but it really irks me that my very first one (and probably my "worst" one) was at Vandy! I didn't do anything embarrassing; I just didn't mediocre.

I hope my waitlist turns into something. 🙂

Sorry to hear that 🙁. Have you considered writing a letter of intent? You have great stats, so I wish you all the best--would love to have you as a classmate!

I'm in the same boat (although my stats aren't as good). Vandy was my first interview and I fell in love. But I do think I would have been less nervous and done a better job had it not been my first. Now I'm trying to not get discouraged and wait it out...:xf:I guess we'll see

Same here, also first interview and I was really nervous and actually said something not that intelligent at one point

Good deal. I understand why you might not want to send a LOI quite yet. It is still rather earlier, and you don't necessarily want to be wholly locked down to one school. But, if it is your top choice definitely let them know, as I do think you are extremely competitive at Vandy and are likely to make it off the waitlist if you express your desire to go there above other schools! Best wishes!
 
A friend of mine got a scholarship offer from Vandy last week. Any others hear likewise?

Yeah, I got that waitlist letter too (nicely worded!). Just called (then they told me to e-mail) to let them know they remained my top choice, etc... I'll send a detailed update with grades once I get them. Good plan?

I just got the Canby Robinson scholarship. I found out this morning. So when I looked up the scholarship online, I found some descriptions of it being tuition + stipend and others saying just tuition. Anybody know which it is?
