probably not with the holidays coming up. Adcoms need vacations too...

Yeah, I think after next week things will be slow for a bit because of holiday vacation.

But, there hasn't been a standard time from small pooling --> invite. I was only small pooled for a day before my interview, my friend waited 6+ weeks. So it really varies. Hopefully you'll get a quick turnaround for the interview 🙂

I have been complete around 10/20 and I just got the small pooled today.
Realistically, would I get an interview invite (similar to everyone else in this thread) 2 to 3 weeks from now or is January more plausible?

This makes me want to cry, I was complete 4 weeks before you and my status still hasn't changed.

just hit my 10 wk mark~

do you mean ten weeks for pre-interview hold? because if so, i'm sorry to break the news to you, but you are unlikely to get an interview. it seems almost everyone is placed in the pool. then after being put in the pool they then reject another small number of people. people with interview invites usually get it 1 day to 1 week after being small-pooled. i have been small-pooled since october too 🙁

has anyone who is/was small pooled tried calling the office? or more specifically has anyone tried the "in the area" approach? i've been small pooled for over two weeks and am trying to work out my travel plans for a dartmouth interview, which is pretty close (I live far away from both).

AHHHHH!!!! I just found out I was accepted at UVM COM!! I'm so incredibly excited!! Interviewed 12/4 and received acceptance email 12/12!!! I'm so happy!

They told me that too but I just checked my status page and I'm waitlisted.

congrats Addison!

Correct me if I'm wrong but you're an OOS reapplicant? I'm guessing they really admired your enthusiasm and persistence! Again, congrats. 🙂

Congrats! That is very exciting!

Has anyone, who had been on the waitlist before been accepted now? I am just wondering if this was another admissions meeting for UVM where they accepted some people off the waitlist. I've been on the waitlist since early Novemeber....I'm really hoping to get into this School. Loved UVM.

I'm actually an OOS reapplicant who lives currently VT.

I'm really excited since this definitely is my first choice! I LOVED THE SCHOOL!

Thanks for all of the warm congrats all! Good luck everyone!!

So when would it be a good time to send LOI because UVM was definately one of my top choices because of their focus on primary care.

I was waitlisted on 10/15 and just got accepted yesterday, 12/12. I sent them 2 letters while I was on the waitlist. The admissions staff are really friendly and helpful so I would say send those letters, it looks like it helped me. I love the school and will most likely be attending. Don't get discouraged as it seems like a large portion of the class comes from the waitlist.

Did you e-mail the admissions office your letters or did you send them through the mail? I'm trying to figure out which they would prefer.

They said to email the LOI on the website, so thats what i will be doing.

Congrats to everyone who has just been accepted!!! For those of you who are waitlisted, be patient (it is NOT necessarily a rejection). I was waitlisted in October and got in two weeks later.

Congratulations again!!!

Skijump, did you receive a letter in the mail or was your status page updated?

The notification came as an email, I then ecstatically checked my status page and it too had been updated with the good news.

Small-pooled for like a month! Whennnnn UVM wheeeeennnnnn

Hey Skijump, how long were your letters and what did you put in them? I remember them telling us that they did not want to get long emails and that just a short email saying we are interested was best. The moment I found out I got waitlisted I sent them a quick email basically just saying I was still very interested but I wasn't sure what else to do? It seems a little redundunt to send them another email like that in say a month but I will if it might help.🙄

I've been in the small pool for four months. Stop making waves, I'm trying to enjoy my pina colada over here.

haha bradstein, a lot of people seem to have not caught on that most small-pooled WON'T get an interview.

that's nice, considering that i haven't yet caught on that not being small pooled after what seems to be an infinite amount of time means that i won't get an interview

Received an interview invite yesterday after being small pooled for 3 weeks. This was also several days after I sent an "in the area" email, and they gave me the day I requested...so UVM was very accommodating, it seems.

Small pooled either Nov. 24th or 25th and received an interview invite today for March 3rd!

My status page went back to being:

"We have received all application materials that you have submitted. Your file is under preliminary review. The review of your file may take several (6-8) weeks.

Once the review is complete your status will be updated and you will be notified via the Online Applicant Center.

Please continue to check your status periodically through the Online Applicant Center. We appreciate your patience!"

This was after having the supremely short message for quite a while. Anybody else have this happen to them? I think they are slowly telling me that I am rejected.

This happened to me too, its been almost 3 months since I was complete and I haven't been small pooled. It's strange because I know the reject people pre-interview so I wish they would just get on with it if that is what they are going to do.

Real sensitive, bluesMD.

I apologize for the waves bradstein, hopefully soon it'll be celebratory pina coladas.

what are the chances of getting in after being waitlisted, anyone have an idea?

I didn't find anywhere that discussed the preference for UVM to receive LOInterest from applicants?

I sent an email to Mr. Reynolds a couple of hours ago (most definitely after office hours) so I anticipate a response either tomorrow or after the holiday. But, if someone can show me the webpage that shows that email is preferred over snail mail then I can just email a LOInterest asap!

i'm sorry didn't mean to offend anyone, just wanted to give people a heads up and let them know the reality.

This paragraph is from the waitlist page on UVM application center.

"It is not necessary to submit additional letters of recommendation, letters of reference, etc., as these will not influence your place on the waitlist. If you would like to submit a letter reaffirming your interest in the UVM College of Medicine please do so via email to [email protected]. "

Hi all!

I know there is some discussion going on regarding the importance of LOI's at UVM. I'm not the resident expert but here's my take on it. I say go for it with guns blazing! No, seriously. I'm speaking from personal experience. I was sure as hell that I would never even get an interview at UVM and then I sent in a very enthusiastic letter of interest/update letter. A few days later I was small pooled and three days after that, I received an interview invite.

Sure it may be coincidence but it clearly shows that the LOI didn't hurt me. And it was about 1.5 pages single spaced. After interviewing I sent in a letter to Patrick saying how much I loved the school, that it was my first choice (because it is) and that I believe its the PERFECT fit for me. 8 days post interview I was accepted even though at the interview he said we wouldn't hear anything for at least a month.

Showing passion and interest in the school can't hurt. At worst it won't help you and you may have wasted a couple hours drafting the letter. But I'd rather lose that than constantly wonder what if.

Anyhoo, Bottom line: If you really love UVM, let them know.

Good luck guys!

Addi

does anyone have the average stats for vermont, gpa, mcat, acceptance etc. i have been pretty intereste in UVM, but it seems unlikely for interview. i hear you addision but i don't want to be wayyy below their average.

Hey BluesMD,

I'm not sure what the stats are for the C/O 2012 but UVM COM has the stats for 2011 posted as a 3.6 median GPA (both overall and science) and a 30 MCAT (10's on all sections).

Hope that helps!

Wow they are already interviewing into March. I guess they are pretty much done with interviews.

whattt!! droshan where did you get that info

oh crap. when do they stop interviewing?

haha thanks. i feel kinda ******ed.

I'm sure people would be posting if they had news, but I thought I'd bumpity-bump this up...

I'm hoping/wishing/praying that there will be another round of invites this week or next... (and that I'll get one... ha!)

Anyone heard anything?
