It's so funny, today i was thinking to myself... "Hmmm i wonder if VCU will start pulling people from the waitlist early this year?".

Guess i got my answer. Haha congrats anyways! Go out and celebrate.

Hey Guys,
I just called VCU for other reasons but decided to see if they would tell me the number of people on the alternate-list. So here is what I found out if you're curious.

There's approximately a little over 200 on both the in-state list and out-of-state list. So that makes a total of 400 people on the alternate list if I understood her correctly....kind of intimidating 🙁

But Good Luck Everyone!!

these are the stats from 2007:
In state:
777 applied, 351 interviewed, 205 were accepted, 104 enrolled
Out-state:
4887 applied, 383 interviewed, 205 were accepted, 80 enrolled

so, 400 is not so bad, assuming ~ the same number of acceptances are given out.

So, if I'm reading this right. Approximately 100 acceptances were given out initially and the remaining approximately 300 interviewed were waitlaisted (making about 200 waitlisters). So another 100 or was accepted from the waitlist due to others declining their acceptance. So approximately half the waitlist could recieve acceptances? Sounds good to me!

If this is true, I wonder how they justify waitlisting 200 people both in and out of state? After they've sent out all of their offers by march 15th, which includes roughly 80 OOS for example, it is VERY unlikely that even 100 out of staters will be pulled off of the waitlist. SO, why would they keep 200 waiting?

the stats above show 125 OOS people were offered acceptances beyond the initial 80. so, it's totally possible 100 OOSers could be pulled off the waitlist (assuming i'm interpreting the data correctly).
 
Has there been no IS waitlist movement out there?? Has anyone called yet and asked about waitlist movement?
 
From what I remember from applying last year and being waitlisted, there tends to be a lot of movement on the OOS list, probably because they're more likely to withdraw their acceptances or off the waitlist to go somewhere else. The IS list, in comparison, moves very, very slowly because the IS acceptances withdraw less frequently.

👍 Yeah, that's been the case the last few years.
 
Does anyone who interviewed remember the other Financial aid application, besides the FAFSA, that they want us to fill out for VCU??
 
First acceptance!!!!! After a LOOONNG time of stress and distress..

Just got off the wiatlist today my friends. Male OOS interviewed back in February.

Thank you for all your help and best of luck to those who are still waiting..
Looking forward to meeting you my future classmates/Doctors in August 🙂))))))))))

I never post, but I wanted to help out those keeping a tally...

I was accepted off of the waitlist yesterday (4/22) via status change email at 6:04 pm. I'm OOS and interviewed on 2/2/09.

Good luck to everyone else!!

Congrats to you too, and good luck to those of you still waiting. Remember that there is usually a decent amount of waitlist movement on 5/15.

Thanks for all your support and for giving us hope. I know i'm not the only one getting myself sick with anxiety about this stupid waitlist business. Hopefully we will all hear good news soon :luck::xf::luck:

Yep just talked to admissions. 10 people have been taken off the OOS waitlist. None have been taken off the IS waitlist. I hope IS starts to catch up soon!
 
I just got into Miami, so I might be turning down VCU... have to think about it for a while... Wishing you guys luck!!!
 
Wow! so much movement in this thread since yesterday! So exciting and congrats to everyone who got in!! Im an OOS hanging in there for good news too!

TO those still waiting, it is only April 23rd and there already has been a lot of movement in the waitlist. That's great news, and it only means that around May 15 ish, many many more new positions are gonna open up. So keep your fingers crossed, and best of luck to you all..

I guess the OOS waitlist DOES move!!!!

I got my notification two days ago! Chances are good that I'm going to VCU!!!!!!!!!!

To all those waiting, there is a light at the end of this awful, stinky, dark, long tunnel!

I was just notified at 6:04PM on april 24th that i have been accepted from the waitlist. I am in-state.

It's funny, because im currently at EVMS for preview weekend.

Nope, I clearly remember being told on my interview day that its impossible b/c the only way u can become a Virginia resident is if u go there for reasons other than education.

I will be withdrawing soon... VCU is only giving 4K scholarship and 42.7K in loans🙁 Good luck to everyone one the waitlist.
