so apparently gender and race plays a big factor in this because say a white male drops an acceptance, they choose a matching gender and race from the waitlist to fill in his spot, which is sad, but thats the way it is..

Wait really? I thought it was just male/female and IS/OOS. I didn't know they counted race in that too...that makes it so much more complicated 🙁

Maybe, but it's worth a shot. Sometimes she'll give you a hint now, other times she will tell you to contact her after May 15th since the waitlist moves significantly at that point.
 
Does anyone know if your chances are better with the "I've been accepted at another medical school but still wish to be considered" or "I have not been accepted and wish to remain on the alternate list" ??? I've been accepted to a D.O. and put I've been accepted elsewhere but now I'm afraid that might hurt my chances.

Ultimately, shouldn't you just be honest? If you have received an acceptance somewhere just tell them. Besides, changing it now would look rather fishy I think.

I agree, like I said I've put that I've been accepted to another medical school and would not change that answer now...but my question was if you put that you've been accepted elsewhere, will the admissions committee accept someone who hasn't been accepted before you or put you lower on the alternate list?

I don't think they'll bump you down the list but when it's August 7 and orientation starts in 3 days they might call the person with no acceptances first because they're more likely to fill a last minute spot that way.
 
Do you guys know if we'll be notified if we're accepted from the waitlist by email, regular (snail) mail, phone call or by a status change in our application account? I'm currently studying abroad right now, so it would be bad if they contact me by regular mail and phone because i would be unaware of it to reply back, that is why I'm asking. Thank you so much for the help!

Btw, I'm an OOS WL .

I'm pretty sure that you will receive an e-mail saying you have a status change and of course your status on the VCU web site will change.
 
From what Dr. WC said at my interview, once it gets closer to orientation, they'll usually call the next person on the waitlist to see if they're still interested in attending before they offer them the spot.
 
Does anyone know when M1 orientation begins and when the white coat ceremony is? I'm planning my vacation and want to make sure I'm back in the country in time. Thanks.
 
White coat is scheduled for the 13th of august. it's a tentative schedule though so maybe it'll change but it says on the orientation website that the ceremony is supposed to be on 8/13.
