If it's been a few weeks since my AMCAS was verified should I be concerned that my email filtered it out? I was having some email issues with even safe email addresses being deleted.

Anyone know how I'd be able to pay if this did happen?

If you are really worried about it, call them or contact the admissions committee via email. Perhaps they have not seen your primary yet.

Oh boo... I added this school a bit later though so perhaps I have not been reviewed yet. Oh well, no rejection = hope that will last me till about the middle of August anyway.

Another member (JasonE I think) received the LOR request yesterday at that time. As far as I can tell there has been 3 batches of LOR requests. IMO, if you didn't get the LOR request and did not get rejected, you are not in a terrible position. They are likely just holding on to your application for a later date.

When I visited Mayo, the student tour guide was from Rochester, so I don't think that being from Rochester will be a negative against you. In fact, she made it seem like Mayo actually likes instate students, because they are more likely to stay in MN.

Not at all. If anything, we have the advantage over others. I've lived in Roch for 14 years and have experienced a lot through Mayo Clinic. Most people that apply to Mayo only do so because they know Mayo is one of the tops, but that's it. I've personally experienced a ton of what Mayo has to offer, and I'll be sure to let them know that if I get a crack at interviewing.

So, while most people can only spout off things like "Mayo is the best school, and I want to be the best" or something generic and boring like that, we can tell them things about what we've personally experienced through Mayo and whatnot that has swayed us towards them.

I do agree that personal experiences with Mayo are probably more powerful, but I don't just plan on saying something generic about why I am choosing Mayo. That's a good point. 16 years here 🙂 Actually, in my PS, an important part of it had to do with a really great experience my family had with a Mayo physician. Of course, in the PS, I just say what kind of doctor they are, not that they are from Mayo. But if I can interview, I will definitely elaborate on how much I loved the patient (and family) centered care given by that doctor.

I'm sorry if I came across as arguementative. I was actually trying to say what you said, that there are good arguements for both sides. I think each type of student probably brings something unique to the school, and thus adds to its diversity and overall quality.

Haha, that was one of the first things I thought of. I can't believe we guessed it correct. Now I don't have to be that neurotic premed checking my email all weekend. I am super happy right now. If they just got your last LOR yesterday, you will probably be in the next batch. I'm sure that won't be long from now.
