So I'll go ahead and answer my question from earlier today, they accept Fridays as well...how do I know this? Well....

At 3.14 this Friday afternoon I was Accepted at UAB!!!! Wooo I'm going to med school! By the way I'm IS/27m/3.9! Good luck guys, I'm sure yall will get good news soon!

Wow! Congrats! 👍 I hope they accept people more than once a month bc I didn't get accepted today and I would hate to wait another month! Course I'd prob just be happy to get waitlisted. Its the waiting I cant take

Interviewed yesterday and they e-mailed me today that I was accepted! Amazing. I loved loved loved the school at the interview -- the hospital is incredible, and the interviewers were really nice, low-key and seemed really intelligent. Overall, I'm floored.

UASOM class of 2014! Haven't gotten a campus assignment yet, but I selected B'ham only, since my sister lives here and I'm hoping to move in with her for $$.

-sol

EDIT: if anyone's curious I'm IS/37S/3.65

Even if you are waitlisted, you do not find out about it until March or so.
Similar to USA, I think they determine the list sometime in late spring.
So there is a huge window as to when you can expect to hear about a decision.:scared: Very long.

The med student I toured with said she interviewed early Oct, but didn't get an acceptance until Dec.

So the wait continues...blah...
I think once the three week window has passed, I will start to forget about it. At least I hope so.

Congratulations Piazza and Sanityonleave! Are you looking at other schools or does this seal the deal for you? Perhaps, we will be enduring the next four years together! Where do yall attend school now if you dont mind me asking?

Well I am 99% sure I'll be at UAB, but I have a few other schools I'm still following thru the process with just to be open to other options, namely Stony Brook and Univ of Colorado...plus I wouldn't mind making the interview trips out to either of those places haha. UAB is honestly just such a good school with such a cheap price tag that it would be difficult to turn down even in the unlikely occurance I did get in anywhere else. I'm at Samford right now...looking forward to those four years of toil on a much less green and much less republican campus haha..where are you at?

Yeah the Brunette one? I remember her saying that at lunch. Ha, she got mad at me for leaving the tour!

I wouldn't despair -- from the orientation packet they gave us at the interview, "Timing of acceptances reflect a number of factors and should not be interpreted as a sign that an applicant is more or less desirable to the Committee."

I think they're pretty honest about that -- I don't know how they do it, but I got an e-mail acceptance less than 24 hours after I left Volker from interview day and my stats are honestly not better than many other people who I know are still waiting to hear. It's an agonizing process, but simply because it's taking a bit longer doesn't reflect on your app!

I hope to see all you guys this September! Good luck everyone!

I have a 3.88 post-bacc, a 32Q and solid ECs. I wonder how many people like that get rejected from UAB (in-state).

Depends. Some one told me their friend got rejected with a 32 but that he had like no shadowing and f up the interview. I also know a girl who got a 31 who killed the interview and had great stats and was waitlisted to the middle tier.

That's comforting. 😱

Yea there's definitely a lot more to acceptance than MCAT and GPA stats...like they have to know you aren't a tool and that you're in it for the right reasons...which is why the interview is so clutch. I've heard that your scores will get you an interview, and an interview will get you in.

In all honesty, there are definitely some tools getting in. But then again, they are in all areas of life.

Yep.
Tsk tsk you could have gone on the tour with us.

Within 24 hours?! That is wonderful. Congrats! It must have been a shocker when you saw that email. 😀

You have no idea... interviewed on Thursday, and Friday afternoon my phone vibrated with an e-mail from [email protected] -- I thought "oh yea they're reminding us to make campus preference choices" and lo and behold it was titled UASOM Acceptance -- I was completely and totally floored. No idea how my app got processed so fast, but I'm happy nonetheless!

Anybody else here who has already been accepted, did you guys get a campus assignment immediately when you were e-mailed your acceptance or did it take a bit? They didn't give me enough time to submit my preferences between the interview and my acceptance 😛 -- I've submitted now but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get bumped to the bottom of the queue.

As a sidenote, anyone on SDN interview with me on 11/12?

I had my application submitted on 10/22 but am still under review - anyone else in the same boat, waiting on an interview for that long?

Mine was "complete & under review" the first week of October, so yeah, I'm on the same boat. I didn't check, but I've got a feeling it's named The Titanic.
Also, congrats to everyone being accepted!!!

I still haven't received my campus assignment. I think I was accepted 10/21, so I think it takes a little while

It doesn't sound like anyone has gotten a campus assignment yet - maybe they do it after they have the class complete or something.

I have this bad feeling that if I'm not accepted by Jan. 1, I'm not getting in this year.

I interviewed on 9/23....there are people who interviewed AFTER that who have already been accepted. I'm trying to figure out what they don't like about me.

Ya, I also interviewed on 11/12. I think they liked me but you never know. I hate this waiting game! No reply from them yet. I just submitted the campus preferences.

I feel the same way. I interviewed before the first acceptances in october, and people with lower stats that interviewed after me have already been accepted. The waiting sucks, but people last year on SDN waited from october to february and got in, so there's really no telling until march rolls around. Then comes the wait list. :xf:

Same here

I have been "Under Review" since early september. So I am not sure exactly what is taking so long. I haven't even been put into the "Remain under consideration" group yet. Getting a little nerve racking. I figured at least something would have changed by now.

My stats are IS 3.3/29Q

You should call them. Most are under review for like one or two weeks. Maybe they didnt get your LOR or something.

Hey guys. I've noticed most of y'all do not have an MDapplicants profile. It lets people see what your stats are and helps people compare their stats to yours to get a good look at their chances of getting in. It also tells what schools you are applying to and what date everything happened. (i.e. secondary complete, interview, accepted, waitlist, etc.) You can also link it to our SDN profile so people can easily click on it. Its under the avatar here

Just thought it would be good if everyone had one so we wouldn't have to ask so many questions. It is at the website: http://mdapplicants.com/

Let me know if there are any questions.

I have a friend who got in with a 29. He interviewed last Thursday and was accepted on Friday. It pisses me off because all of his stuff was submitted way late, haha. I'm really happy for him, though. He definitely deserves it/worked hard enough.

I'm guessing the next batch comes on the 4th of December.

Yeah, I have a feeling that they only send out acceptances once a month. Bummer! :boom:

BTW this is me every 5 minutes when I check my email and see that I have no acceptances or even interviews. +pissed+

Haha that's hilarious. I do the same thing except I keep seeing rejections from out of state schools 🙁. Oh well, atleast we're all done with our in state interviews, meaning UAB and USA!

Hey guys,
Congrats on your interviews and acceptances. For anyone else who hasn't received an interview yet (like me), post it on this board when you do. I feel like they aren't even sending interview invites out anymore, and I would just like to know when they do. Thanks and Good Luck the rest of the way.

I haven't gotten an interview yet, been "Under review" since mid October. Is there a certain day of the week they review files? If there is, then I could at least cut down checking my email every 5 minutes to one day out of the week!

Not to sure but I can tell you that I received my invite on a Monday morning around 11:00. I'd like to say don't check your e-mail every five minutes bc it will make you crazy but I would be a hypocrite bc I check mine every 4 min and have gone slightly mad:poke:

Some people I know were accepted today.

Sucks for us! :wtf:

Dr. Zaius. What are their stats if you happen to know and wouldn't mind sharing. Your stats as well if thats cool. Also have you been accepted to UAB yet?

Yea I have had the "Remain under consideration for an interview" status for almost 3 weeks now. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. Hopefully I will get an interview at some point.

I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure they're about average for UAB...maybe slightly lower on MCAT.

I'm 3.7+/35+ (to remain anonymous in case any UAB adcoms are watching >.<)and I interviewed in late September. Haven't been accepted yet. I feel like everything went really well with my interviews. I wish they would tell me something soon 😡.

I've actually had this status for over a month.

I'm starting to get really worried. But then again who knows. This whole process is so bizarre

If you haven't been accepted with a 3.7+ and and 35+ then I'm screwed, I'll just start looking for a job.
