Hey all,

just invited to interview here in six days. honestly not sure if i will attend or not. I currently go to school an hour away so getting there should not be a problem. i have always heard great things about UC, just not sure if i would attend over another acceptance.

could someone please explain to me their experience of the MMI? Thank you.

Oh! and most importantly, like MiniMoo said...DO NOT let poor performance at one station influence your performance at the next. Remember...the interviewers have absolutely no idea how you're doing at other stations. If you think you messed up, when the bell rings, suck it up & move on to the next room with a smile.

When you get in the room, they give you a copy of the prompt that u're supposed to respond to so that u can refer to it while u're there. I promise u, at EVERY room, I almost walked out with it & they had to remind me to leave it in the room LOL! How i kept forgetting...idk. I felt stupid each time but i remembered that it's not like they knew how forgetful i was really being haha. in their eyes, it was only a one time deal lol

thanks all for the help. I am definitely going to go after a bit of reflection and talking to some older friends.

I actually am sorta looking forward to this interview now, the responses definitely helped ease some anxiety due to the unknown. ha.

Don't worry, I did the same thing. I actually took some of the prompts with me into the next room and didn't realize until I sat down. So did a couple of other people I interviewed with. I think it has something to do with getting a sense of security from holding that stupid piece of paper. I always went straight for the prompt in every room, even if I didn't need to look at it.

The UC facilities are really nice and overall I liked the school a lot more than I thought I would. It's now one of my top choices to go out of state. So perhaps the school will surprise you as well. Good luck. 🙂

Hey guys, thanks so much for expressing so much detail about the MMI. I need to know what to expect should I be given an invitation to interview. I have been complete since August and haven't heard anything yet. I called the admissions office today and they told me the last interview date is going to be on March 16th. The lady at the admissions office also told me that they will be giving out interview invites up until the day before. So, it is possible that I, or someone else in my position, could get an invite on March 15th for a March 16th interview. Oh how much that would suck lol, especially for me since I am OOS. I really want to go to UC, so if that was the case, I would be on the next flight out! Haha.

+1!!!! Thanks so much for posting this info! I'd love to get invited; but, I have been complete since JULY and think that it's about time for me to give up here.... 👎 Too bad.

placed on the alternate list. woo! 3 for 3 in waitlists from all my interviews with no more left. looks like may 15th is gonna be huge for me.

for everyone else still hoping for interviews, when i interviewed a couple weeks ago, there were only 40 spots left with 4 interview dates still to go so it looks like if you get an interview now, your chances arent high for getting in

Yah there were only 20 spots when I interviewed last week so the later interview dates are probably for waitlist. When did you interview lebron?

p.s. the cavs are going to dominate the magic tonight

not to doubt you guys about seats left in the class (because I am sure you did hear that), however, i am not worried about there being no seats. When i interviewed at tulane in December they said the class will absolutely be full by christmas and i know for sure there have been people interviewing even in february and and achieving quick acceptances. I also know someone who got into UK with the same scenario.

So, my point to those who are about to interview (me) and those who will interview in a bit more distant future, always think you can get a spot and do not worry about the waitlist. I have no clue what goes in with admissions numbers and meetings but I believe if a school wants you, they will accept you.

Your name constantly reminds me of how much i wanna get a MacBook Pro for med school...they're beeeautiful! lol

When I interviewed last thursday there was like 40 people interviewing..and the guy said only 15-20 spots were left. He also said they were interviewing 120 more ppl after us.

So 160 ppl for 15 spots = FML

I applied to UC a long time ago like November. Have not received anymore after Emily or whatever her name was about Pharmcas academic update. Do you get a ntoification by email or mail? Do I still have a chance??

You guys think those of thus that interviewed on feb. 4 will hear anything this week? It was only 2 weeks ago but that would be sweet if some decisions were posted tomorrow.

Really? Because of the snow i presume? Maybe they will meet on wednesday and thursday instead who knows. And thanks for the luck.

ha hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they will not. dr. manuel said they are pushed back a week

Is anyone else concerned with the long lectures (9-5) everyday? That doesn't leave a lot of time for studying and balancing a life. Most other schools I've been to normally had half days (ending around 12-1) to allow for studying, etc. Any thoughts?

Not sure where you're getting your info, but I have plenty of time for studying and life and I'm a class-goer 90% of the time. Class 9-5 everyday? Maybe some days, usually when a required Gross Anatomy lab is involved, but most others we do end at 12 or 1, or even before. That's in first year. In second year, it's even more true. You might be at school from 9-5, but you won't be in class straight for that long...there will be study time and other things to do. Believe me, you will have time to master the info and have a social life IF you manage your time correctly. Classes are taped and the notes/powerpoints are posted, so if you really feel like you need more time to just study on your own, then just don't go to class for a day. There are few that are mandatory... Talk to other current students...some may agree that the days can be long or that some days have a lot of classes, but I think all of them will tell you they work around it and have time for studying and socializing. You will be fine, promise!

Got the "any interviews from now on will be for waitlist spots" e-mail this morning. What a bummer. Does Cincy reject post-interview?

"This email is in reference to your upcoming interview at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. I wanted to let you know that students who interview between now and May 1st will be placed on the Alternate List. It is unlikely there will be remaining offers by the time you are reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

Each year, there are approximately 250 students on the Alternate List; and over the summer, the College of Medicine typically makes between 35-50 offers from the List. However, there have been years when the number of offers from the Alternate List has been fewer than 15; and conversely, years when the number exceeds 70. At this time, we have no way of predicting how many offers we will be making this summer."

I don't see the message on the status page.

This information is absolutely horrible to here. Does anyone know if there were still MMIs on Feb. 16th even though there was snow? When was the last MMI interview day for which people were actually interviewing for real seats?

like I said before there was only 15-20 spots left when i interviewed on feb. 4, so this is no surprise. Hopefully there are still some spots, when they get to my application which should be next week

The interview day did occur on feb 16th (i was there). when we interviewed they made it seem like every one who was to interview had a chance to earn an acceptance.

Wow! so how many people were there on the 16th? UAAWolf said there was 40 on the 4th? I wonder if the same number were there on the 16th? In which case, there would be 80 ppl for 20 spots, which isn't absolutely horrible but for the waitlisted interview dates...well that just stinks

Has anyone had any success with in the area emails for interviews?

That's a great question. I was thinking about doing the same thing. Maybe someone has had success with it?

Also, has anyone been outright rejected at this point? My status still says the same thing, and I was wondering if UC rejects people throughout the year, or sends out rejections after the interviewing period is over. I am anxiously awaiting an interview invite, even if it is for the waitlist.

If you read back through the thread, you'll find that in at least one instance such an email was followed by an interview invite the next day. This could have been a coincidence. Either way, I say go for it. Same with the other schools you asked about.

The last person that I knew who was accepted, interviewed @ the end of january, 1/28 I think? Some people that I knew who interviewed on Feb. 4 and 16 have not heard anything yet. I think the adcom meeting was canceled for those who were on Feb. 4 and they will likely here sometime later this week.

And yes, they did still have interviews on Feb. 16 despite the snow.

Anyone else get the schedule for second look? Looks like a jam packed day. I'm excited. 🙂 Sad we can't bring guests though. I wanted a second opinion about the place. Ah wells.

I did and would love to come, but cost of ticket from Cali is quite a bit. Plus I emailed the admissions office and they said student housing wouldn't be provided as it was for the interview.

I was here a few days ago and absolutely loved the school. I hope I make the top 1/3 of the waitlist :xf:

The MMI was pretty fun, btw

Yeah unfortunately Delta has something of a monopoly on flights into Cincinnati, which is why ticket prices are so insane. Flights into nearby Dayton and Columbus can be half the cost. I'm considering flying into Dayton, renting a car for the day, and driving the hour or so to get to Cincy.

Yeah I even checked the surrounding airports, round trip still comes out to ~$350ish. Anyone recommend a good but cheap hotel to stay at, with preferably a shuttle to campus?

~$350 is still a lot better than the ~$600 to fly into Cincy directly. I would try using Priceline to bid for cheap hotel rates. The Marriott Kingsgate Conference is within walking distance of campus and cost me around $60/night when I bid for it. There is also the hotel on campus right across the street from the med school called Holmes on Eden. It's about $59/night when using the UC rate.

Hello!
I interviewed February 4th and received an acceptance yesterday!! Super-excited and good luck to all of you...I need a roomie 😉

Interview invite today for March 16th! Nothing like interviewing on THE last interview date haha. But this being UC and with Cincinnati being all but home by now, I'll take what I can get and hope the waitlist is generous...

Congrats! You probably got one of the very last spots in the class!

By the way, idk what's up with these delta flight prices - I was able to fly us airways for cheap back in december for the interview. Ugh! So annoying. Either way, I'm really excited for welcome wknd!!! I hope u guys r staying in town on saturday to explore the city - nightlife & all, lol. I am! 🙂

I'm excited too! I live in Cincinnati, so for those of you who are staying, I can show you all around 🙂

Does anyone know if it's possible to get off the waitlist before May 15th?

Just got an invite for March 16th! Wow, I honestly can't believe it.

I was complete August 14th, OOS, with no updates.

I don't currently have any acceptances, and I know its for the waitlist but I'm so excited anyway.

👍

From what I heard when I interviewed, they don't re-evaluate applications or admit anyone off the waitlist until May 15th. This was confirmed by 2 other people who I knew that were waitlisted.

Hey guys I was just wondering this may be stupid for me to ask, but does everyone who interviews here get put on there UCCOM listserv? I have gotten two emails now from their listserv, but have yet to be accepted...just hoping that maybe that means good things.
