Hi ICarly,

The office doesn't frown on contacts. Call and explain your situation. The Admissions Dean will have the file reviewers check your application. If your app looks good the office will try to accomodate you.

Thanks! i actually cant find the exact date but my guess is mid september. I have a lot of family in the area (my dad went to miami for his undergrad) so it should be a fun and hopefully rewarding trip 🙂

ive been in lab since 9:30 and a nervous wreck! anyone else in the same boat?? i really really really REALLY want this one 🙁

It goes something like " (indiscernible, "I'm Bryan" maybe?)...I'm calling from the University of Miami, uhh....I'm being briefed, um that, to call back the Admissions Committee as soon as possible, uhhh, 305-243-3324"

Hey, are any of you pre-med people here currently in college at University of Miami? I know, this is the place where getting into medical school is discussed, but I'm in my final year of high school currently and plan on applying to the University of Miami, so I was wondering if there's someone who can tell me from personal experience how hard it is to get accepted to the UM college, approximately what grades are required on SATs, what does particularly the UM look for most in a student etc.

FYI, I hadn't heard anything from Miami and I sent them an in the area email last week. A couple days later they offered me an interview. So it seems like they are receptive to that kind of thing and perhaps want an indication of your enthusiasm for the school if your OOS like me

Just wait it out. Last year I'd passed out and woke up to a similar message. Called the next morning (since it was after 5 when i woke up) and they said I'd have to wait till one of the admissions people came in. Received an acceptance e-mail later that day. I don't think they like giving acceptances in voicemails, hopefully that's the situation for you. Good luck

I got my phone call on 11/11 and got accepted into both the Main Campus in downtown Miami and the Boca Raton campus!!! I'm super excited because UM is one of my top 2 choices for med school!!! I can't believe it, still in shock.

They'll send it to you via snail mail, like all the other schools 😀

I got into the Miami campus too. Dr. Weisman told us it was supposed to be a December decision, but apparently they managed to squeeze us early Nov. guys in for the last adcom meeting and now we're in ahead of time 😀

Does anyone know if and how Miami likes to receive an update on an activity? I recently created a charity event and am helping to organize it. I think it would be great to have in my application, but do not know where to send it? Should I e-mail it to someone or mail it to the mailing address?

I would have included it in my secondary, but the event was only approved last Thursday long after I submitted my application. Thanks.

Anyone know about th Alternate Lsit? When do they start accepting people from the alternate list- do they do it continuously or do they wait until after all of the interviews are finished?

my guess is they wont start looking on their list till after interviews are done. or they might if a lot of people with acceptances decline. who knows.

So I got a call from a student at Miami telling me I was accepted and to expect an e-mail, a few days later I got the e-mail from Miami repeating that I was accepted and to expect a formal acceptance letter in the mail, and a few days after that I got a letter in the mail from Boca telling me I was accepted and how to respond.

I'm confused. I haven't gotten a call or e-mail from the Boca campus, nor have I gotten that formal acceptance letter in the mail from Miami-- did I get into both? Of those of you accepted at either campus, what form of contact did you have with them that told you you were accepted?

I plan on calling Dr. Weisman tomorrow just to clarify, but I thought I'd get a faster response from one of you all.

P.S. FYI, I was complete first week of September, interviewed October 22/23 Boca/Miami, and heard Nov 11 (call from Miami), as promised.

Oh sweet! Congrats! I just talked to the admissions secretary and confirmed my acceptance with both campuses, as well. She said she wasn't sure why I didn't get a call from Boca, but I should still be expecting a hard-copy letter from Miami. If I didn't get it by the end of the week, I should call and they'd re-send it. Hope this helps others in similar situations. YEY!

Not exactly sure when I was complete here. It has to be sometime in September or early October though.
