After losing all hope and forgetting about this school, I finally got the secondary today. I'm OOS and was verified before 6/24.

Fee is $68? seems like a random number.

Me too and me too, but I was verified late-July.

Gives me new hope! I am very excited to fill out this secondary.

So even though it says in all the emails they send you,
In State Applicants

Our Interview Coordinator will contact you via email with instructions for scheduling your interview.

if you're in-state AND reapplicant you get reviewed to see if they even want to offer you an interview. I didn't find this out until I called them to ask about my interview time because it had been 10 days since they said my application was complete (I'm instate). Kind of frustrating b/c you expect to be an auto-invite.. but it turns out that's not the case.

If I had know that I would have spent a little more time doing my secondary. I just put in the highlights of what I have done to improve my application assuming I would be able to explain more in the interview....

Since this is the case, does it make sense to send update letters to admissions about additional shadowing/volunteer experiences?

From the website it looks like they like to see lot of improvement from reapplicants before deciding to offer interview, so essentially you get reviewed twice.

Have any reapplicants been invited for an interview yet? My file has been complete for a few weeks now.

Hey, I'm a reapplicant this year...I'm interviewing on Sep. 30. Good Luck!

Hey Yall,

I finally got my interview (I was verified Aug 7)! I am interviewing the morning of Oct 30 and live near the airport so if anyone is interviewing that day and needs a ride from the airport let me know! from the looks of the schedule it sounds like we are doing 2 one-on-one interviews and then I guess touring the campus and talking to students? anyone interviewed yet?

how unique of UNC, thanks for letting us know. haha just playin, but congrats. I'm still on the fence about filling out my secondary (OOS). Anyone got any unique views of UNC to motivate me?

I don't know if you have visited the campus or not but it is BEAUTIFUL! The hospital is nice...pretty good reputation. I took some undergrad classes there during the summer which were pretty intense...made me glad I wasn’t full-time there. But the best part is just the area it is in...Chapel Hill is a great place. The secondary wasn’t too bad so I would say fill it out and visit the campus.

Lets see UNC prides themselves on producing a good mix of physicians in academia (i think Dr. Bashford said roughly 25% of graduates have stayed in some sort of academia), PC, and a good mix of competitive specialties.

Hello. How long did u guys have to wait before u were invited to fill out 2ry application? Anyone applying out of state? Thnx

As to your question, it was about 2 weeks from the time they received my primary to when they invited me to do the secondary, BUT it took about a month from the time I submitted my primary to when they even acknowledged it was received by them. Hope this helps. Also, if it makes you feel any better, I submitted the secondary over a month ago and haven't heard a peep since then 🙁. I'm starting to wonder how much it even matters that I got a secondary in the first place.

I'm OOS too. Good luck to you and to all of us trying to get in here -- we're going to need it!!!

UNC is slow and it is hard for OOS and it is same in other state schools as well since they have to admit primarily the ISS. If all schools show stats for ISS vs OOS, I bet the stats are higher for OOS - may be they admit some OOS just to improve thier admission stats. UNC has also set the bar high for reapplicants which appears some what unfair.

I agree with the above quote. I was excited to receive a secondary as an IS Reapplicant. So I filled it out and I was complete in August. I have not heard a peep since. I have made substantial improvements to my application. The silence is deafening.

Reapplicant here, my secondary was complete on 8/21 with a confirmation letter on 8/26.

Finally got my interview schedule invite today.

Good luck Birdsbeak

Got my invite today as well and I'm a reapplicant to UNC.

Good luck all

Hey any of you guys that have interviewed already...how about creating a few interview feedbacks for those of us who haven't been so lucky yet? 🙂 Also, anyone willing to share who their interviewers were?

Disagree, i think what they mean when they refer to this is if you werent good enough to get in the first time, then why would you be good enough to get in the second time unless you made improvements somewhere?

Anywho, good luck to yall..and if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm.

I was offered an interview. I am excited. Much earlier this year than last.

Hey all

Good luck to you all. Thank you for the info.

I agree. Of course you have to make improvements otherwise no point in reapplying if you have nothing to show interms of improved GPA/MCAT/activities etc. Well, the way the website info sounds as if even if you make some improvements it may not be enough unless you are at or above their averages. So someone with improvements may not get interview over a new applicant whose stat may be less than the reapplicant.

Once again, I disagree... a good portion of my classmates are reapplicants, but even if i am wrong...try not to worry about it and do the best you can.

So, I got the "complete" email and an interview invite 4 minutes apart. The log-in info they gave me isn't working. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe that second email was a mistake lol?

Are you a first time applicant or reapplicant? That may have something to do with it. Are you using your old log in password? The system appears to be the same.

Nice to know that a lot of your class mates are reapplicants. In general the reppplicants invited for interview are good candidates and good luck to all of them.

well i still can't log in, but does anyone that scheduled very recently know approximately the earliest interview dates (preferably fridays or mondays) that were available? I just wanna gauge my schedule.

I hope people interviewing will post their experience to see how things went.

interview was every bit as pleasant as i could have hoped for. the people here are amazing.

Have a couple of questions!
Do they do rolling admission? After secondary is sent, how long does it take for them to process it?

Like Chubs said, a good portion of our class is reapplicants. I applied three times (got in third time). Either they got sick of me applying, or they decided I'd be a good fit (I hope the latter). I didn't get an interview my 2nd year, but made considerable improvements for my third time around and got into several other schools.

Yes, they do rolling admissions. And it varies widely on how long you hear after your interview. I've heard as little as 2 weeks (VERY rare) to as much as 5 months. As far as how long it takes for them to process your secondary, it also depends. What time of year you sent, how many others they are getting in, and generally how motivated they are.

As I've said, and Chubs can attest to, UNC admissions office is realllly slow with pretty much everything. Incredible school though. Well worth the wait.

Good luck.

so slow...👍

The admissions office is not indicative of the rest of the school though..idk what the hell their problem is.

Btw Aladdin, how you dong beautiful? You dreaming about howard brimbley and diabettus yet?

I have a question for Aladdin and Chubby,
Is the school diversified? My first time in UNC forum.
Thanks

92 girls...68 guys... 15% black i think....maybe 10% asian...rest white.

Married students, older students, decent amount just out of UG.

Plenty of non-science majors and ppl that have done some crazy stuff .

Tell your school to pay attention to us OOSers. We feel unloved.

Quiet you! You already have about 12 acceptances in the bag. Save some admissions spots for us common folk.

A 39 MCAT hardly lets you lump yourself in with us common folk. 🙄

hey guys and girls!

to those of you who have interviewed, did you know who your interviewers were beforehand? if so, how did you find out? it seems like in the past UNC let you know (????)

thanks 🙂

Nope, you don't find out till you get there. They said it's cause people's schedules and availability change all the time. I think one person in my group actually was told he had one interviewer in the morning but by the time he interviewed, it was someone else.
