Seems like UNC keeps a pretty tight lock on information like this. I've called the admissions office multiple times and I haven't been able to pry any information out of them.

it seems like people in last year's thread were always aware of the class size during the cycle. people posted that some guy named "eric" was informing them. maybe it was eric shuler, the person who's sent us secondary info

So I am an out-of-state applicant, and somehow i got an interview at UNC. My interview is coming up very fast and, considering that i would choose this school over any other I could possibly be accepted to, I was hoping to know how this school was towards out-of-staters after getting the interview.

I had a very strong gpa, a mid to high 30s mcat, and more-or-less the filling of the pre-med activities.

How willing is UNC to accept non-North Carolinians? I'm hoping its better than I have heard...:xf:

During 07-08 they interviewed 98 non-residents and 25 matriculated. I'm not sure how many oos applicants they actually accepted, but I hear getting the oos interview is the hardest part. Best of luck

interviewed IS in late september, still no word...praying that tomorrow will be an extra lucky monday!

Anyone who interviewed in January know if we got reviewed yet???

Did any IS get a letter in the mail recently confirming that you would be paying in-state tuition? I thought it was really weird because I haven't been accepted yet, and I about died when I saw that small envelope in the mail

I haven't gotten any word from UNC since my December interview. I can only guess with that letter that an acceptance might be coming soon! Best of luck to you!

Here's to getting some good news this week!

They send those to everyone who completes the in-state resident for/application and it comes from a different office. I was a post-bac there so mine got processed fast and I received it right after I sent it in a few months ago.

Sorry to disappoint you but I am pretty sure it is just a standard practice for everyone who fills out that form...

It scared me too. I got it before I was invited for an interview and my heart sank... lol. Aren't we a dramatic bunch?

Waiting since mid-November... I had a dream last night that I was talking to one of my interviewers (like chit-chat) and was really happy. Think it's prophetic? 😛

Anyway :xf: for me and everyone else for tonight!

And if we didn't get a letter confirming in-state tuition...? I've lived in NC for 18 years. I haven't heard a peep from UNC since my interview except for a December update letting me know they were going on break.

Anybody know what time the committee usually meets on Mondays?

Does the financial aid letter that you have been getting come from the medical school office of admissions or does it say its from a different department?

I got the in-state for tuition purposes at my permanent address today.. not sure what office it was sent from since it was my mom who opened it for me. Almost entirely sure that when they send these letters is mostly random in relation to admissions decisions though.

It was from the medical school admissions office

I just got the call- 6:30 tonight. I am in-state and I interviewed in January.
I just wanted to say- good luck and don't give up. My stats are pretty much exactly average so you don't have to be perfect to get in. Best of luck to you all! 🙂

Congrats! Hopefully I'll be seeing you in August. Enjoy the acceptance and go celebrate 👍

last year I got the instate tuition letter and then a rejection later in the year. I don't think it's any kind of indiciation of accepted/rejected decision... it's just saying that IF you get in, you'll get to pay in-state tuition.

I just recieved my tuition letter yesterday (interviewed 1/13) and still no decision

So I decided to take a trip to the admissions office to settle this. The tuition letter is completely independent of admission - though it does process through the same office, technically. Sorry for getting your hopes up.

Still wishing you the best of luck!

See, I thought the financial aid office did it. No rejection email so maybe no decision yet...

Got the acceptance call this morning - caught me entirely by surprise and made my day. UNC's my first choice so I will be in Chapel Hill this fall 🙂Hope to see you guys there!

For those who will most likely ask, I'm in state, 41P/3.4cGPA/3.3ish sGPA at an ivy, and interviewed around Halloweenish. My interviewers were Drs. Bashford & Roberts.

Good luck to everyone enduring this process - what a long and painful wait! Here's hoping they start making a lot of decisions soon for the sake of everyone's sanity 🙂

wow awesome! congratulations guys. at least they're still handing out good news, that still leaves me with some hope 🙂

so do you think it's too late to send in an additional reference letter? at this point i'm willing to try anything that'll push me over to the maybe pile.

Has anyone heard anything about scholarship info yet or will that all come later in the year?

Nope nothing. It's been all quiet for me since acceptance packet (except for neverending emails about fafsa stuff which I've already completed). Has anyone who has already been accepted had any communication from admissions about anything other than fafsa recently?

do you guys have any idea how much apartments cost down there. if anyone is looking for a roommate def message me (guy or girl). from trojan to tarheel this should be interesting

those of you working on fafsa, does it really matter all that much about submitting early?

I'd say in my experience its hard to find anything under $300 and up to $600 but it depends on a lot of things: how far away you live, how nice your place is, if its located in the sketchier part of town...

Anyone been accepted and not received a phone call?

I've heard some telling me that they've been accepted without a phone call, but according to the admissions office, that just doesn't happen. If you're accepted, you WILL get a phone call. Every time an unfamiliar 919 number calls me, I just about jump with excitement - I'm all too frequently disappointed. But still keeping my fingers crossed!

Not true. I didn't get a call.

i didn't get a call either until a week after my package came, it was one of my interviewers

Just got the big envelope in the mail today. Interviewed back in December. OOS. No call. Pretty excited.

The later it gets tonight the more depressed I get

Ditto. I usually give up hope by 8pm. 😛

ETA: 30 minutes until I lock myself in my closet and cry myself to sleep. haha

Every other Sunday night I can't sleep because I think today is going to be the day, and then when Monday comes I feel worse than the previous time

I'm also always optimistic and secretly think that each meeting Monday will be my day. 😳
