Truth! Five pop into mind immediately and I don't even know that many folks' 'admission story' from our class.

Also, thought you guys should know that a FB page has been started for your class. Expect a number of the names to be current students who want to keep up with you guys/be available for Qs.

OU COM Class of 2014!!

Editing to remind you all that there is an OUCOM thread that has a jillion posts - plenty of MSO reading to keep you occupied until August. OUCOM on SDN...come on over

Thanks for reaching out. Second Visit Day sounds like it's going to be pretty cool also.

Does anybody have an update from the school? Since 2nd visit day was last week, do you think there will be a sudden rush of acceptances from the waitlist? Thanks!:xf:

Fellow future doctors,

I have been called up from the waitlist (letter addressed April 14th arrived yesterday) and will be accepting a spot in the class of 2014.

I know many people like to ask about stats and such so I'll just mention that I was a resident applicant, 3.7 GPA and average MCAT, with a good amount of volunteer and medical experience.

I wish everyone still on the waitlist the best of luck. Keep checking those mailboxes!

Whats an average mcat? OU's average of 31.5?

Sorry I was being intentionally vague because I didn't want to create issues with people feeling slighted if their MCAT was higher or what not. In fact I would have really avoided mentioning any stats except that I know a lot of people are interested for whatever reason or reasons. I'll go as far as to say my MCAT was between a 27-30, a number that I believed was average relative to those who interviewed in January and February and made the waitlist. Hope that helps, sorry I don't feel too comfortable saying a specific number, I just wanted to let people know that the waitlist was indeed moving along...

Congrats on your acceptance HSOU15! If you got in, you deserve it, regardless of your numbers.

As of today, 23 have come off the waitlist and there are 23 accepted applicants still holding multiple offers.

Hello all,

I have been keeping up with this thread throughout the admission cycle and it has served as a valuable resource...mostly for calming my nerves🙂. My number finally came up in the admission cycle...received the crimson envelope yesterday...with letter printed April 14th and I am planning on accepting the spot🙂.

I will not get into stats but will advise that if you are wait listed do not lose hope...you could be next🙂 Best of luck.

my pre-med adviser said that he thinks a lot will move from the wait list soon

yeah, it has been moving a lot if 23 people are already off the list, and 23 people hold multiple acceptances. I was just checking into this thread. Hope you all are doing well!

by the way..
DRMRL? It's pretty pathetic that the only thing you have to do in your free time is get on here and pose as someone else.

do you all actually think ppl tell the truth on this.....hahahahahahaah wow; you all are great. i go to osu like i told u marshshshshsh and i applied last year, but didnt get on this thing. i love how u all freak out soooo much. its just med school hahahahahahahahahahahaha my goodness

ill be honest....i made a 14, then 21, then 38, and then a 40 on the mcat, and got accepted to all of the schools i applied to....oops. I'm having too much fun with this that I have to delete myself hahahahah

never call me a "he" again

my pre-med adviser said that he thinks a lot will move from the wait list soon

Here we go again. Why can't "he" stay away?

did anyone get any love from the scholarship committee??

None at all! Guess I shouldn't have held a job down during school after all. Makes me look like I'm not going to be a poor medical student next year... 🙁

ETA: Wow. Do I sound whiny up there or what? Anyway, it's not the end of the world. I've still got a semester's worth of scholarships from undergrad left over, and they know that, so maybe that's why. Or maybe it's because this year's class has a lot of really great people to choose from!

Yes, the Coburn Scholar was up for the running this year if I'm not mistaken

Hello, my roommate just got accepted into OU medical school. She has a 25 and 3.75.

Congrats to TJ87's roommate! Does that mean the waitlist will move more next week ? There seems to be steady waitlist movement each week. good news right?🙂

BRE showed up today! Funny thing is the letter was dated today.

Congratulations to you and all the others that have been pulled off the waitlist thus far. Hope to hear some more good news soon.

Congrats just one! That's a really fast letter if it was marked today! I wonder how many were sent out this week?

Thanks, I took a close look at it and the letter was dated today and the envelope was postmarked yesterday.

Since there has been some lying going on earlier in this thread, thought I'd post this pic to remove doubt. Also I'll repost my stats for people on the waitlist.

3.56cGPA, 3.87 sGPA, Biology Major/chem minor. Last 130 hours is 3.93 over 8 years. First 60 hours (ten years ago) was 3.03. 28 MCAT, very minimal volunteering/shadowing.

Hey, I posted this in the "University of Oklahoma- everyone welcome" thread but it seems like this one probably has more traffic. So if you guys could help me out I'd really appreciate it:

"Hey everybody, I just have a quick question about the University Village apartments. My best friend is starting at OU med in August and was just notified that there is a studio available for her if she wants it. She is out of the country and can't go look at it. The floorplan looks TINY... is there any way she could fit 2 couches, a coffee table, and a very small kitchen table in it?

She is also looking at Deep Deuce and Lincoln at Central Park...

Any suggestions as to what she should do?

She asked for my advice and since I frequent SDN and know you guys will know better than me, I figured I'd ask here.

Thanks for your help in advance."

I'd go with the Lincoln at Central Park, for the space and apartments. Deep Deuce has poor managaement from what I hear, and The University Village is convenient, but the Lincoln is not too far from campus!

I took a tour of HSC today and got the chance to meet Dotty. She gave us a list of all the (tenative) stats for the entering class of '10. I'll post it to this thread or the one for '11 when I get a chance (prob tomorrow morning)

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on this website (as you can see to your left.) I received an invite for a position in the 2010 class this afternoon with a April 28th date. My AMCAS GPA is a 3.59 with a 28 MCAT. I have several activities including a year and a half of research, many hours shadowing, and volunteering in community/abroad.

I will be accepting the position and I hope the information I provided will give others an idea of where they may stand on the wait list. It's a pretty cruel setup they have going for the wait list, but it does make it exciting for when the letter is received.

I look forward to meeting all of my fellow 2010'ers and wish the best of luck to the people remaining on the dreadful list. If it doesn't work out this year for some of you, don't give up. I know how difficult it can be to remain optimistic in the situation that many of you are currently in, but at some point you have to accept the ways things are and continue shooting for your dreams.

Keep your heads up and God bless.

Does anyone know what going on with the new curriculum? Im still confused and i know 1st years are not looking at it in a positive light.

Can you clarify your question? Are you asking if there is more going on with the new curriculum that they haven't told us about? If so, I can't answer your question. I guess up to this point I've never been too concerned because I now know as much or even more about the new curriculum as I ever did about the old curriculum.

Also, I'm curious as to why 1st years are not looking at it in a positive light. I've only heard from a few current 2nd years and most of them were actually jealous of the new structure and the capstone course we'll have at the end of year 2. The others were pretty ambivalent about it because it has no impact on them.

Please share any additional insight that you might have. I'd really like to know more about it as well.

That is exactly what I have heard... When I had my interview one of the students who was showing us around the campus, etc, was actually involved in the planning of the new curriculum was actually really excited about the changes and indicated that they had done a lot of research and were confident that the changes would benefit the students. That's most of what I remember about what was said, however, if I remember anything else, I will post it.

I just received an award letter from the office of financial aid, is this normal if you are only on the wait list?

They have me listed as out of state in error, so I called in to check on that. I imagine it is pretty standard to send these letters out to everyone who has filled out a FASA, but it just seemed a little weird. I double checked my AMCAS and it has me listed as in-state, so like I said, I just thought it was weird.

Hey all, hope things are well. I have watched and been apart of this Forum for a while so I just wanted to let those of you that are waiting know that I gave up my spot today. I am in state and was one of the ones holding multiple acceptances. Best of luck on this trip. Congrats to JustOne who was my dissection partner and will be a great MD! Seems to be a lot of movement on the wait list this year so I hope you all get in!

It's normal to get a financial aid packet even if you are never pulled from the wait list. But, with that being said, I know of two people withdrawing applications from their spot here. This means three more spots just opened up for you all since KeithOKC is withdrawing, too. Best of luck on this distressful wait. 👍

Yep. I got one of those financial aid packets too.

Anyways, i thought thought there is suppose to be a lot of movement around this time. the thread has been pretty slow... does anybody have good news to share??????

I had the same thing happen to me this week. I got a Financial Aid Award letter which mistakenly listed me as out of state. So I called the financial aid office and they said to wait until I hear back from the Admissions Office. As far as I know, I am still waitlisted.

Wow. it's a tuesday and i have not heard/read any news on people getting accepted from this time when there's supposed to be a lot of movement!!! I feel like there is less hope as each day passes...

There has been a delay from letter generation to arrival to posting. Don't give up hope yet, there will be movement all the way to august. Almost half the waitlist has been pulled (32 at last count), in my opinion has been a decent amount until now. Dotty told me on average 24-36 get pulled each year so we are on pace to be over average. Good luck.

There were 35 off as of last Tuesday. I think there may have been a delay because Dotty was out of town all last week.

Just talked to Dotty this afternoon. She said that all the letters from the May 15th rush have been sent out. There are still 7 more students who hold multiple acceptances.

when she said that they have been sent out, does that mean they are currently in the mail or that they have already been received by people?

I think they were sent out yesterday. I was told that no movement was going to occur last week because Dotty was gone. There were 35 off last Tuesday and 42 off yesterday, so I imagine 7 letters were put in the mail yesterday.

New update: "42 have been accepted from the wait list. There are five candidates that still have multiple offers."
