Looks like above a 30 mcat and around 3.75 will get you that first round interview. Does anyone know if they will continually send out invites or will they come in waves?

I would imagine they will send out the invites for Oct. 22nd pretty soon...

One of my friends got an Oct. 22 invite yesterday. Sorry.

First round implies October 21st and 22nd. They also get a choice to push back to January. Second Round will be November dates. Probably when I will get mine (I hope!!!) Third round will begin in January.

Oh that makes sense...everyone I have talked too got Oct. 21st so I assumed that was all they had sent out!

I'm hoping I get second round too, it will be depressing to have to wait until January

I'll shoot for the 17th if the miraculous october date isn't offered

Just got my UMich interview, no love from OU yet. I guess it's Round 2 at the earliest now.

Haven't all of the October interview invites been sent out?

You would think it wouldn't take long to hit send on an email, but few October 22 interviews have been reported, so who knows.

Just keeping my hopes up for November. Hopefully they'll come out about the time the first interviews are being completed.

Will they wait to send out November interviews until the October interviews are complete?

they will probably wait until all the October slots have been offered and confirmed. If people turn down an Oct slot, I am sure they'll keep moving down the list until all slots are confirmed. However, I would think they would give ample time so I see them going out by the week of the first round interviews.

According to last years thread, first interviews were October 21 (just like this year) and the first posted 2nd round interview invite was October 29.

I didn't get my final supplemental data in until 9-30-2009. (*slap my head in shame)
My MCAT is a 31 and
my total GPA is 3.7, my science GPA is a 3.86 (higher than my total gpa)
It appears that I turned my stuff in too late to be considered for a first round interview. My question is how much damage did I do to myself to be considered for a second round inteview in November?
Also I dont know how to calculate my interview score.

You are fine, good chance at second round, 12.10 score.

Just one, did you get a first round interview? I'm rooting for all of us here to get one soon!

Nope, I suck
I had a 3.0 GPA from an associates degree ten years ago, when factored in with my 3.93 in 110 hours over the last three years it's only a 3.56 (3.87 science)

But that's 10 years ago!! Seriously something wrong with the whole process if that remains your obstacle. Anyway best of luck. I wonder if the interview groups are the same size for October and November?

I figure it wont hurt too much during the interview or decision, but they won't look at that when determining interview order. As far as interview size, I heard roughly 30 per day.

So we only have 3 confirmed SDNers with an October 21 interview and 1 friend with a 22 interview. So much for the theory of SDN having most of the highly qualified applicants (for OU anyway).

Haha I think there are just a lot of lurkers browsing around in the wood work.

This is to Just One.
Thanks for the info!
I am in a similar situation that you are. I got an associates degree with a 3.5 gpa, and since I switched to premed I have made somewhere around a 3.9 at OU.
Once they take a look at your transcripts a little closer you will be a much more competitive candidate. If you don't mind me asking what was MCAT score?

28 (9-ps, 9-vr, 10-bs)
I am not an expert or anything but I have talked to people who have gotten into OU with sub 9 mcat scores. For you I think it will depend a lot of how much they will way your vastly improved recent undergrad work compared to your old college work. If they their logic works like mine I would at least give you a de facto 3.7...but of course you never know.
Obviously non GPA/MCAT factors also go into play....Volunteer experience, interview...etc.
I am sure I am telling you stuff that you already know.

I've been thinking, which usually gets me in trouble but hear goes. OU interviews 280 ish applicants for 162 spots. So since the interview number is fairly constant along with the matriculant numbers, I m guessing that around 15-25 people turn down OU, so by these figures 180 out of 280 interviewees get accepted. Sounds like pretty decent odds.

I have thought about that too...wondering how many people turn down OU. I know a few people in Norman that have MCAT scores close to 40 who just applied to OU as a back up, and I'm definitely hoping they get in somewhere else so I can have a better shot 🙂

i think the cutoff is an 11....what do you all think?? 11 as in the answer to that formula. By the way, I know a guy who got into OU with a 24 and 3.4

Yea I talked toa 4th year who said she got in with a 24 MCAT...not sure what her GPA was but there was a reason behind her low score so they accepted her anyway. She was not a minority but I'm sure under certain circumstances people with low scores can occasionally get in

I had Org II with a guy last fall that had a 26 and was accepted second round. It happens, just not the norm. We'll all get our shot, patience.

Thanks for the reply. I am staying pretty optimistic. An acceptance off the waitlist is still..........an acceptance. Everyone I know that has applied from my school with stats (my stats meaning the old stuff included) very close to mine has been accepted, waitlist or regular. I cling to that. Not saying that everyone with my stats gets accepted, just everyone that I have personally talked to at my school.

So if you get OSU and OU, which one do you think you'll take?

Yeah, I know a guy who got in w/ a 24 and 3.4....i mean, if he GOT IN, then he got an interview too obviously haha, so I'm sure 24 and above will get an interview. Patience is a virtue, I guess..

I just realized that I could have gone home 5 seconds into the Biological Sciences section of my MCAT, not answer a single question on the BS, and still get a 25. 😱

Haha but you have to have at least a score of 7 on each section! 🙂

If you don't need the points, I'll take them. 😉

Heh, it'll do you no good though, I'm still hoping for a 2nd round interview.
WOMP...you must have made a good MCAT score. Is there is a reason you didnt get a first round interview?

I think it's because I'm OOS, and have lower than average GPA for OU (tough undergrad). Although it could be something entirely else. 😕 I did mention wanting to do urban medicine in my PS. Oops. Although in my mind, OKC is pretty urban, I was from southern Oklahoma.

It would have to be because you're OOS, but I would think that since your from Oklahoma that would be quite helpful in the state ties department! Just be sure not to mention that your GPA is low because of a tough school at your interview, I hear that is a big no no!

I agree with both parts. Strictly OOS in my opinion. I can't imagine that they would not send invites to people who want to practice in urban areas or rural areas. As far as the GPA, things such as school difficulty just sound like excuses (whether valid or not).

did anyone ask for application materials for OU-SOCM (tulsa) and decide NOT to fill it out??

I have the secondary for the school of community medicine.....still haven't filled it out.

Managed to pull a 34Q on the September 10 MCAT. I got a waitlist last year with my 3.1 overall/2.9 Science/30Q MCAT, so hopefully this additional 4 points will help me get a spot for real this time around.

Congrats on the MCAT!

Any news of a possible class size being raised? Heard a rumor but have no real source

I don't think this years class will be any bigger, but in the next few years they are going to increase it to 200.
