Hi I was wondering if people were still following the financial aid timeline on the website even though Penn hasn't sent out acceptances yet. I have my FAFSA in, but I'm still working on my needaccess application.

Anyone know when we find out? Also how we find out, whether through email, call or mail?

Thanks,

PhiAlpha

From last years thread: last week of march by status page and email.

mini heart attack upon seeing an email from the UPenn Admissions Office...but it's just a penn med-life in philly email

so. tortuous.

Yup, me too! Also, like an hour after I sent in my update letter (I momentarily thought I had sent it too late). I think with your 40 MCAT, 4.0 GPA you'll be A-OK. Good luck!

Last years thread tells us that its most likely late March.

I emailed admissions yesterday and they said March 15. Specifically, they said "We plan to announce our decisions on March 15 via e-mail and the status page."

Yeah...they say that every year though and it gets delayed until the end of March.

I emailed today (3/8) and they said "The release date will be no later than March 30."

Guess they're falling behind

I have a feeling we will hear, when we hear. Has anyone heard anything about when the second look weekend is? I'm not trying to sound overly optimistic but it just might be a nice FYI.

Last year it was April 23rd. But....Worry when you need to worry about it 🙂

I predict March 26th this year for decisions.. It's a Friday. So, 18 days to go. I actually have an interview on Friday this week in Los Angeles. I'm always amazed at how long this process is.

Ahhh 3/26 feels SOOOO far off right now, but you're probably right. GL at your interview!

Haha, I just got an e-mail from Certiphi saying "An additional participating medical school has requested a copy of your national background report." I was just accepted to Duke but they don't use Certiphi, apparently. Hmmm, I wonder if Penn likes me since it's the only other school I'm waiting on... Haha, I doubt it but it's good to dream, huh?

why does the status page still say march 15th if everyone is assuming march 30th?

When I sign in it says this in red:

"Please Note: All admissions decisions will be announced by March 15."

I don't know if it has always said this and I know there were considerable delays last year, but I'm thinking Monday might be the day...

The link I posted says "by March 30" and when I emailed to clarify they said "March 30 at the latest" so I think they wanted the 15th but are falling behind, unfortunately

Fortunately it is a status page so when they finish up we could find out very quickly and won't have to wait for a letter to be mailed.

Word on the street is that you guys will be hearing very soon. Good luck -- hope to see you all here for preview (April 22-24th -- save the date)! If you have any Penn or Philly-related questions, feel free to email me.

Thank you for the info. The waiting is always the hardest part. I'm really excited about Penn so hopefully I'll get to be there in April. :xf:

slight tangent, but I just realized that the picture of the med school on the admissions website:

http://www.med.upenn.edu/admiss/images/stock_17.jpg

looks familiar. Very familiar. Anyone think it looks like the Princeton Plainsboro hospital where House works? It looks VERY similar to the PPTH when they do the flyby of the hospital in the opening theme 🙂

I know it doesn't look like the ACTUAL plainsboro hospital since I live in plainsboro 😛

I can see the similarities, although actually, the aerial views shown on House are of Frist Campus Center at Princeton 🙂

don't tease us like that

don't tease us like that

Haha, if he means this Monday, then a lot of students' spring breaks will either be made or ruined. Hell, I'll probably be on south beach when I get the news... :scared:

Here's what I know -- we got an email from the admissions office recruiting students to help out for preview, and the first line said that admissions decisions had been announced. It came late Friday afternoon, so I'm guessing they're holding them to actually send out until Monday. Although I'm sure things could always come up, especially with getting them all posted online, that might push it back a day or so. Shouldn't be too much longer, though -- hang in there.

hopefully we find out monday.

it was better not knowing when decisions would come

OMG +1

It was wayyyy better not knowing when decisions were going to come out. However, I suppose not much has changed! As someone said earlier in the thread, we will find out when we find out.

In the meantime, I will try to enjoy this rainy weekend.

thanks for thinking of us!

gah WAITING i am not a fan. I'm pretty thoroughly cleaning my apartment just to while away this Sunday.

Hmmm I'm still somewhat skeptical...one of my friends is a M3 and he gave me the sense we weren't going to hear March 15th the last time I talked to him (although, that was a few weeks ago). Last year, MD/PhDs found out a day early if that's any sort of predictor. Super nervous, I've gotten too many waitlists recently that I need some good news from a place that's so high on my list. Please, Penn? 🙂

well, MD/PhDs who were accepted last year found out a day early. If you were waitlisted (which is not necessarily a bad thing at all), you found out the day the MD applicants found out. I've also heard that you guys will be finding out this week because the MD/PhD office sent us an email saying decisions go out this week. Good luck everyone!

so I know according to the new AAMC trafficking rules they need to inform their MD/PhD candidates by tomorrow at the latest and their MD candidates by March 30th at the latest. (Or at least, admit a number equivalent to their expected class size by those dates.) So if in years past, MD heard a day after MD/PhD, that could mean Tuesday for most people. I don't know if they would be okay with a 2 week lag between informing MD/PhD applicants and then MD applicants.

on another note, my apartment is now really really clean

Wow, I got such a surge of adrenaline when I read that we might figure out tomorrow or Tuesday.

is there any reason they won't post MD/PhD and MD applicant decisions on the same day?

Wow talk about this week coming from out of nowhere...I feel like I was just thinking "only another 5 months to go."
