Just got an invite! completed July 30th.

Interviewing on Friday Oct 16 - anyone else?
 
finished secondary 3rd week of July so I was surprised that I just got an interview, scheduled it for October. good luck guys.
 
It feels like everyone's getting an interview at Pitt except me.

If you're looking for someone to give you a reason why this is happening, your mdapps aren't helping that much...

Hey when you guys note you were completed, is this the date when you submitted the secondary or did you actually receive an email saying you were completed? Thnx

umm, I never got a complete email, and my status page still says "invited to submit supplement", was I supposed to get a "application complete, under review" status or something like that?
 
NO, they don't send a complete email and as long as everything is complete on the status page, you are fine.
 
yo do u guys know if they look at LORs before giving out interviews. i just wanted to check that all my recs were fine (since i didn't go to class at all in undergrad)

Oh I'm sorry I thought this was a different school thread, yes you do not receive any type of email, in fact you just stay "invited to complete secondary" until you get an email saying you got an interview

I'm not going to give the deluge about being unfit. Honestly, there are many people who have missed class, although you may one up them. But, as far as I am aware, most schools do look at them. The only thing I really have to ask is if you got the letters from profs who knew you at all. If they base it on your resume, schools will know, or so they say. If they know you personally, it looks better. I don't know. All I can really say is that the schools WILL look at letters at some point, and what's the point getting an interview if you get rejected after anyway. Good luck regardless.

how long does it take to get from submitting the secondary/$$/letters to being marked as complete? My app status has not changed in a while, but all the required stuff has been received????

i've been complete for awhile... do you think they'd flip out if i called them to ask about my status? is it still too early in the cycle to contact them?

My app was never marked as complete, but all my stuff is in. I called about a week ago to make sure, and they said I was complete. But no hint of an invite yet...

Okay so I'm trying to figure out what to right in regards to the ethical dilemma essay (and similar essays for other schools, like discuss a difficult situation and how you coped/found support). The only things that I can think of are really personal, and I am not sure if they are appropriate to talk about. One situation is that I was the victim of an assault, and involves my decision whether or not to press charges. I did not, but I did deal with it in my own way, therapy etc. Way too personal?

Ooh, Grats!! and you give me hope, since we have the similar stats pretty much, altho my ECs are prob just average. At least it seems like Pitt is starting to look at some of us non MCAT rockstars.
 
woohoo first interview! complete....yesterday. This process is so random..
 
I never know what to write for these diversity essays and it seems like every secondary has one. I'm thinking about going one of two ways, but the way I see it, each is flawed. First, I'm a non-traditional student and have a lengthy employment history working in finance, clinical medicine (what I did was pretty unique, but talked about it some in my primary) and research. So I thought I could talk about my employment, but really how unique/diverse is that? Plus, its kind of boring. Second, I went to a very non-traditional high school (yes it was a long time ago) that had a unique curriculum. I had some awesome experiences there, and it really shaped my view of education, personal accountability, etc. But it was high school so I don't know if it is appropriate to discuss.

i would say high school is fine. I also went to a pretty unique high school; definitely mentioned it in some secondaries. as for diversity, i've mentioned unique aspects of my life dating back to my childhood. they want a picture of what makes you you. if high school is what shaped you, great. write about it. i dont think you should worry about how far back it is.

also, i think it would be ridiculous of them to expect everyone to have developed their "uniqueness" in college.
 
Interview!

I'm too excited to set the date yet haha. I'm thinking Oct 7th or after the 13th (my birthday) 😀

interview invite here too.

i scheduled it around my birthday as well. i'm down for 10/26. my bday is 10/27. i figure i wasn't going to go into work on my bday anyway, so might as well make a trip out of it.
 
Interview here as well! Complete something like 8/5, interview requested 8/14.

Sooo excited for Pitt!!!
 
So I didn't apply to Pitt because I don't think my stats are high enough and it would have been a reach school for me. However, I got this email today

Are they just humoring me, jerking my chain, and looking for an extra $75 from me? I doubt they somehow got a hold of my AMCAS for the hell of it and decided to email me, but I still have to wonder. Did anyone else get something like this?
 
No, but schools can sort of get a hold of your MCAT scores if you checked a certain box on test day. So schools try to recruit a lot of people.

Yes, I just got this too. I'm pretty sure schools can find out our MCAT scores if they want, because I got emails/letters from a few schools saying "congratulations on your score, apply here!"

I can't decide if it's actually worth it to apply though...

I got this too and decided to come and see what others thought. Maybe it's through med-mar. I know other schools recruit in that regard. Should I give it a try?
 
i just got an email encouraging me to apply here but it didn't seem like a personalized email so i dont know what to get out of that 😕
 
I've just got this email too. I can only imagine it is to everyone with MCAT scores above some threshold, there is just no way they actually pulled our AMCAS.

To be honest, I'm not sure how much weight the email really has, although I have started to really consider adding this school. How friendly is Pittsburgh to OOS applicants and do they give out much in scholarships?

Also I've heard they do auto-invites, anyone know what kind of stats they're looking for?

As far i know, financial aid is not that great from this school
