3.7 and 39, with what I felt was a great interview, especially the student one.

Have to say though, I'm really not digging this whole waitlist almost everyone then fill the class from the waitlist strategy though. While I loved Pitt its hard to imagine giving up another acceptance mid-summer after going through finding an apartment, moving in, etc.

It should *hopefully* start moving in March. That should give the newly accepted some breathing room to decide before May.

Still, there's a special place in your heart that you reserve for those schools who simply accepted you right off the bat.

Drats! Waitlisted. Interviewed mid Nov. Stats are 3.9+ and 32. I thought the student interview went very well, but the faculty interview was a bit odd - felt like the faculty member was trying really hard to sell the school to me. Kinda left me feeling a false sense of security.

I know exactly what you mean. I might end up at Case Western merely because of the warmth I felt on October 15th when I got accepted!

Pitt Med's Second Look is April 29th-May 1st this year- please save the dates! Now that it's later, more people will have heard from the waitlist by then, so hopefully more of you can make it out for a great time! I know it helped me decide...

For the waitlistees on this thread, I'm sorry, I know it's really hard, but if you really want to come to Pitt let them KNOW. It really does help. About a third of my class came off the waitlist. Don't let the haters push you away to other, less awesome schools- don't stop believing!

I'm excited for it! Even though its really close to the deadline. Pitt is amazing. Does anyone know how Second Looks work? Do they put you up with student hosts again? Or secure your housing elsewhere? Or do you have to do it by yourself?

congrats rockaction! haha u dont need to fret too much abt vandy

Interviewed Dec. 2. Anyone know if it'll be this week or next week when we get our status updates?

I think Pitt is a good enough school that people will go to even if they are WL at first. Also, for the people with 3.9/37, they will probably get into even better place and drop Pitt's WL before April, so in the end, Pitt will look good because of a high matriculation ratio, its pretty smart.

But i agree, I think I eneded up at my undergrad because they send me an early letter in feb and took the stress off of college acceptances. And i got 2 extra month to get comfortrable with the idea of going there, and ultimately turned down my original top choice for it.

i wonder if the status page will be updated today for late nov interviewees...suspense!

anyone checked yet? I am too freaked out to

EDIT: my curiosity got the better of me. Nada yet for dec 1 interview

I checked a few mins ago - nothing (yet?). Will prob check back in about 30 mins or so. Times like these make me wish that my job didn't entail so much sitting in front of a computer. Makes it way too easy to be kind of obsessive about this stuff.

This waitlist is OUT OF CONTROL!!!😱

I seriously doubt they're going to have accepted enough people to fill their class; I predict waitlist movement very early again this year.

Did all the other wait-listers receive an email from Pitt reminding them to fill out financial aid applications? I wonder when they start accepting people off the waitlist...

Got that as well. Pretty sure it's sent to everyone : )

Be prepared for a bunch of teasing emails from admissions. Your heart rate will jump, but it'll just be "Hey Pitt is awesome"... Just a warning.

All of these people getting waitlisted has somewhat diminished my excitement for hearing from Pitt this week. It seems like 2 or 3 people on this thread have been accepted outright, 2 or 3 rejected and 9,000 put on the waitlist.

The FinAid email says to have all information in by April 15...so they have enough time to set-up a package for us if/when we receive an acceptance off the waitlist.

This means they're not gonna move the waitlist 'till a couple of weeks after April 15...my opinion.

Last year the waitlist started moving the first week of March. Bear in mind that the second look is in April, and they will want people to come to that to help them make decisions. So they're probably going to accept people before April.

Purely speculation, and I said this before, but I really think there is going to be early waitlist movement again this year. It seems impossible to me that they are accepting enough people to fill their class outright before the deadline. Impossible!

Is anyone else excited for thursday to find out that after 7 weeks of indecision to be waslisted because Pitt still can'tmake a decision?

If last week is any indication, we should be finding out within an hour or so.

I am so nervous. They only got up to nov 20 last week, but I am assuming there's no interviews in late nov bec of thanksgiving, so this week should be 1st week of dec.

Edit: It's up

Rejected.

Sorry to hear that Infinity 🙁. Just to clarify, you interviewed the first week of Dec?

Sweet fancy Moses, I can't handle this tension... I'm refreshing over and over and logging in and logging out repeatedly...I'm gonna single handedly bring down their server...AAAAGGGGHGHHGHGH!!!

For those on the waitlist, did you have to email saying that you want to stay on the waitlist? I've been out of the country and I haven't been able to read the letter they sent, just able to check my status page. I def wanna stay on the waitlist, just trying to figure out if I have to tell them that. Thanks!

nope... pretty sure they just assume you want to stay until later in the year, come mid-May/June they may be sending more of those emails.

Obviously this is a school in very good financial shape. Does anyone know when UPitt will start to send out scholarships this year?

I think it was March last year?

edit: actually looks like based on last year's thread, first person got notification at the end of February

oops, I missed that!

what makes you think they go out with acceptances?

I got that impression at my interview. If I remember correctly, they said that merit scholarships can be awarded at any time from acceptance to matriculation but financial need scholarships will go out a bit later in the spring. Also, this seems to be the case from last year's application thread.

Waitlisted 😛

I guess I'll wait a couple more months....I've been waiting long enough already anyway ^^

interviewed week of dec 7th. any hypotheses about when we're supposed to get a status change?
