Well I grew up in NYC and have only been living here about 15 months so I do like San Antonio better because its a bigger city than College Station.

I believe both schools cost around the same per year so what exactly do you mean when you asked about financial aid? Does one school have more scholarships available or something? Maybe I need to review my financial aid info that I received during the interviews.

I just meant like if you had been offered a scholarship by one school and not another, that could be a deciding factor. I'm not really sure about if one school offers more or less than the other. So yeah, definitely review the info they gave you 🙂
 
Just thought I'd let ya'll know that a friend of mine pre-matched today 😱 (interviewed in early November)

It seems like SA sends out a couple of offers every Monday...? idk.

It definitely seems like they're prematching on a weekly basis instead of the 2 or 3 batches they said they were gonna do. I also wonder if they aren't evaluating applicants by their interview dates. I interviewed on 11/16. Has anyone from that interview clas or later gotten a prematching offer yet?

Also, waiting patiently...

Not that this answers your question, but I also interviewed that day and I also have not gotten that email that I check for over and over again.

Today is the end of prematching for TMDSAS right?

The end of pre-matching is December 31st.

As bad as I would like a pre-match offer, this end date will be somewhat soothing, knowing that checking my email every five minutes will not result in any good news after the 31st. Although, I am certain I will still be neurotic, you never know, hahaha.

Any ideas when the next round of pre-match offers will go out, if any?

I think they added one additional interview date this coming Monday... so, after that, the last pre-match batch will go out.

Just interviewed here on Monday, but I can't remember how many they said they would be sending out... It was 30 or more I believe but not too many. They are saving 50-70 spots for the match I think...

sorry for change of topic but was wondering if any medical students/applicants know whether there is a limit on the # of away rotations you can do in M3 and M4 ? I remember during my interview, they said it's very flexible..but how flexible? Like can you do more than half or almost all outside SA? Thanks!

The only away rotation you can do during MS3 is at their satellite campus in Harlingen, TX. You can either spend a whole year there (where you pay for your own housing) or you can do select rotations in Harlingen and the school will pay for housing but there is a limit of how many rotations.

In MS4, there are 9 4-wk period rotations. Of those 9 rotations, 2 of them have to be in San Antonio or Harlingen and the rest can be anywhere. There is an additional 5 wk didactics that occurs in March/April time period that is mandatory.

In addition to the above quote, I have a friend that is interviewing there today, as I type, and she called to tell me that Dr. Jones indicated that there will be another batch of pre-match offers going out before the end of the year.
 
Oh, and I was just speculating and trying to acquire thoughts as to which day exactly.
 
They only have a few more days to offer before the end of the year too. http://www.uthscsa.edu/status.asp According to that link they will be closed the 24th-28th and have minimal staff the 29-31. so they have 5 days that they could give prematches before jan. 1 by my count.

Great point!

I would venture to guess that tomorrow (or Wednesday) might be a great day to send out pre-match offers. The day after the final interview day of this cycle and right before the Christmas holidays.

Early Christmas present? Hopefully!!
 
It would be nice to get an early Christmas present...but there is a lot of waiting in this whole process so I'm not going to hold my breath for anything
 
This process is almost entirely waiting. I had an inkling they might send some out today, as well. But at least, we know they are sending some more out soon. Heres hopin the hope. I feel a little neurotic with way often I check this forum and my email, but everybody let us know if they get a prematch offer. Thanks, everybody.

I sure hope so too. The waiting is killing me. We should all form a support group, haha.
 
When did all of you waiters interview? I was 11/16. Fingers crossed.
 
interviewed 11/30 how sure are we that they have more prematches to release?

I interviewed there yesterday. He said that they were going to hold that interview in January but wanted to get it done before the end of the year so they moved it up. I THINK they also want the pre-matches out before the end of the year.

He said they would push the interviewers to get the narratives of the students from yesterday done last night or this morning. They meet 4 times a week to discuss admissions (twice at 6:30 in the morning and twice after noon). I don't think they would send the pre-matches out before they get a chance to look over all the students from yesterday which means that they wouldn't have been done today. I would bet the last batch goes out late tomorrow or when the minimal staff come back at the end of the month.

Now if I'm wrong in thinking that yesterdays students will be considered for the pre-match, then my argument is pointless haha.

So i've been wrong 5 times in a row now. But since the prematch period is til the 31st, and because "they" like to meet asap to rank interviewees (that is, I don't think they would want to wait after the days of Christmas and Eve), my money is on tomorrow. $2 dollars on tomorrow, any takers? :laugh:
 
Oh and I forgot to mention that he said about 150 offers were sent out but that could only amount to half of them being acceptances. Don't lose hope guys!

Hahaha. I think I am in the boat with you, just like I say the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl every year, I think today will be a good day!!:xf:
 
You know I normally don't like Dallas (I'm from Houston haha), but I hope the Cowboys make as many touchdowns as they can! Papa Johns gives a free topping for every touchdown lol
 
I'll take the UTHSCSA Prematchoffers in the over (that is after Christmas). They have a strong O line, and ill take that $2 bet. Also, as a fellow Cowboys fan I've learned to be cautious about making bets in December. But this year hopefully Romo wins a playoff game and I get into medical school.

HAHAHAHA!! Very good! That's kind of my angle of thought... The Dallas Cowboys won a significant game in December, this must mean that I am getting into medical school.

I hope to join the UTHSCSA Prematchoffers, I heard they were undefeated, like the Indianapolis Colts. I hope they send them out today. I am not sure I would bet $2 on anything in this process though.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!! I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO MY NUMBER ONE MEDICAL SCHOOL AT 12:35AM. The best Christmas present of my life. Congrats to everyone else. I look forward to meeting you all.
