+1 ... sorry to hear about the rejection... if you don't mind me asking: did your status page change?
I'm pretty sure Utah does rejections/acceptances via snail mail.

Nope...the status still says complete. The rejection was via snail mail.
The status changes for acceptances...

I couldn't delete the comment so nevermind, instead. The status changes for acceptances...
Definitely not Sundays![]()
If I remember correctly they said that the admissions committee meets Tuesday of every week, so maybe Wednesday is when they are sent out.Does anyone know if there is a certain day letters come via snail mail or is it random each week?
Oh, thanks. My mistake. The letters will still be sent out on random days for acceptances and rejections.
Oh, thanks. My mistake.
I had my interview yesterday. OOS. I was pretty impressed. I was told during the orientation that letters will be sent out at the end of March, so we should get them very early April.
There is only one more group of students interviewing, next week I think.
People are so quiet on here. You'd think people would be discussing if they will be bringing the class back up to 102 students, I guess not.
They rejected all the people that talk....myself included.

I know there was extensive talk regarding this a few pages back. I had heard some rumors recently regarding a cigarrette tax increase that would bring in extra money to for the school but I would assume that if that was the case the University would be publicly promoting the tax increase and encouraging others to do so as well which they haven't as far as I know.
I'm pretty certain that if the cigarette tax goes through, the class size will indeed return to its previous size. The Dean of the medical school told the students this several weeks ago (I heard directly from my friend who is a MS1). I've also seen this in print, both in the University's newspaper and either the Salt Lake Tribune or Deseret News. So hopefully it's true and hopefully it gets passed! It'd be bad news for smokers, but great news for us!
Don't count on it... Sorry.Ok, so what are the chances that goes through in time for the entering class in 2010? Further, what are the chances that it goes through in time, and they call me up and say that 20 extra spots came up and they want me on board after all?![]()
Don't count on it... Sorry.
A Senate committee voted 4-3 Thursday to shoot down a bill that would nearly triple the tax on tobacco products statewide.

Here is the latest in the tobacco tax and where the new money will go. Doesn't look like any money is earmarked for Utah School of Medicine, but I could be wrong.

"$1 million » for University of Utah Medical School"
I think it's encouraging that there's even one senator out there trying to get money for the school. It's sad though that SOM's piece of the pie has already been cut down so significantly. Add to that the very anti-tax political climate we have now, it's unlikely such a bill will get passed this year.
I just spoke with admissions to clear up exactly when we all would be notified about decisions. I had heard and been told around the 15th of March, but the receptionist told me letters would not be sent out until the END of the month for the majority of people. March 31st, she said. So another whole month basically. I don't know where I've been getting this March 15 idea...😡
so i was told they accept 19 out of state, of which 8 are from idaho, so 11 not from idaho. does anybody know if the 11 includes the out of state for md/phd slots?
also, immediately after i interviewed i got an e-mail letter telling me about research opportunities and the md/phd program and telling me to contact them if i'm interested in applying but the date said by November 1st, so i was a little confused by the e-mail. just wondering if other ppl also received the same e-mail or if it was sent to all people who interviewed but was no longer valid after november 1st?
also, who here is out of state and has an acceptance? care to share?

Got rejected today (weird that somehow I got a rejection letter on a Sunday). I kind of had an inkling a long time ago that Utah was not for me, but now I know with every fiber of my being beyond a shadow of a doubt that the U truly is not for me.
Its a pitty for Jim that the ball didn't go in the hoop. But for me, its better in this case that the ball didn't go in the hoop.
I wish every U hopeful the utmost success. For those with big Utah dreams I hope the ball goes in the hoop.

I feel it... the end is near....
The wait has been so long that it almost seems impossible that its almost over.
Is anybody else having a hard time trying not to get their hopes up for Utah? I have been pretty good up until now of telling myself not to count on Utah for an acceptance and to treat it as a rejection. However, as we near the mid-late March and everyday a certain letter is absent from my mailbox, I find myself actually starting to visualize what it would be like to attend.![]()
I feel the same way, Toketa. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I envision walking to the mailbox and finding a small, but slightly thicker envelope from Utah Medical school about everyday.
It's hard to not get the hopes up. Especially after all of this time.
That's what they're waiting for. They're waiting for you to let your guard down and get your hopes up so they can cut you off...at least that's what happened to me.
No, but in all seriousness, good luck to you all. Especially you Toketa😍
👎idea:👍
Accepted!!! Interviewed 10/9.

Great, now you got me envisioning the same thing. A little positive energy and hope can't hurt right?
