chill, madam. just chill. looks like you've got a great app, and already a couple invites. I bet UVM will come around for you, albeit a little later than you may have hoped. I don't think it's going to hurt your chances that much, since you're a strong applicant.

FINALLY complete!!! submitted like 7/22....such a relief.
 
Finally complete as well, submitted around the time the secondary was released (like 7/24 or something?). They say about 6-8 weeks for review. Hang in there!
 
made my hotel reservation.....so long $$$$$$

Yay I was small-pooled today after having been under preliminary review for about 10 days so at least they looked at my application and didn't hate it.
 
Called today. Student hosts are not available yet. They are going to ask 2nd and 3rd years to volunteer today. They said to call back on Friday to get some contact info for student hosts.
 
I ended up getting a local hotel with a airport/school shuttle.. i didnt want to wait til the last minute for student hosts

same here...dont wanna risk it...plus its not too bad cause without shuttle you'd have to pay cab fare
 
Interview Invite. My first! 😍

Was complete early August, had been small-pooled for about 3 weeks.

guess now I should actually read all those posts about lodging.

did you guys' status change as well or just email?!
 
No change of status, or anything but I'd never looked at the status page. I just received an e-mail. Honestly the best thing to do is not go on SDN unless you get an interview, it's just too much worrying to stay sane...trust me i'm a reapplicant

i know what you mean.. its been my next stop after emails.. so when i have no inbox i come here hoping for some updates 😉

and working in front of a computer everyday doesnt help!

Staying at La Quinta. Airport shuttle and whatnot, close to the University. My interview is on the 22nd

Yea I haven't been able to confirm my interview date online. Not sure why.

I'm just going to email the interview coordinator.
 
did people notice the little "Interview" option to the left on their status page before? I click on "scheule" option just beneath it, all excited, but it says "no interviews scheduled for you" or something like that. and plus my status says I'm complete and under review. Well, I promptly proceeded to ignore my actual status and called the admissions office. The guy who answered was so confused!! I feel so bad for him, and am SO embarrassed! haha oh look what this process does to me :meanie:
 
I had the same 'interview' option show up today and I don't remember it being there before. I haven't gotten the complete confirmation yet, so I don't really know what's going on with it either, but you're not alone with that option popping up. I'm just hoping it's a sign of what's to come and an email with an interview will follow sometime soon.

I have this too. Was this there before? I might shoot them an email just to ask them about it, can't hurt

EDIT: Ok I talked to them, yea they were just experimenting with stuff. It's not an interview invite. The guy said it would be very clear if you have one.

Total: 629 Interviewed, 222 accepted, 111 enrolled
IS: 62 interviewed, 42 accepted
OS: 566 interviewed, 180 accepted

WOW. those OOS numbers are atrocious. What's the point of only accepting 1/3 of those interviewing, just interivew less people

they don't have 100% matriculation out of those accepted so they have to accept more. even harvard does that (though not nearly to the same degree.)

I'm not sure if you are agreeing with me or not. I was saying that they interview a tremendous amount relative to what they accept for OOS residents. Given that they accept some off of the waitlist to account for the total of 1/3, that means that they accpet about 1/4 right out after the interview. Those are not happy numbers.

But I agree with the poster above, it is a state school.

i mean, i think it's hard to make a decision about many people until you meet them face to face. i see nothing wrong with giving an applicant you're on the fence about a chance to persuade you by offering him/her an interview. so i totally get why they'd interview so many.
 
hey i'm not sure on the terminology for this school. what's the difference between small pool and hold status on an application?

Yea, but other schools don't do that. OSU accepts about 62% OOS, and Miami accepts about 77% OOS interviewees, for example. ~30% is pretty low for a ranked school, I think only Vandy has a ~30% acceptance rate but at least they don't give you a secondary until they've invited you for an interview.
 
So has anyone heard anything about student hosts, since Bryson informed us that current students were being asked?
 
I can't remember what my status was before (I think it was the 6-8 week thing), but today it was this:

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

Our interview season runs from September through April."

Is this the "small pool" message to which everyone here seems to refer? I never got an email saying I was complete.. I submitted 7/20.
 
I've been sitting here in Burlington for a couple of days already waiting for my interview tomorrow.

I've lived in small, homogenous towns before. But honestly, it feels kinda awkward. I feel I'm the only non-white person who's not part of the hotel staff. And everybody knows each other at the eateries.

Looks like they have a great curriculum though! 👍

anyway from what i can guess it's probably just a typical college town, where the students are in their own separate bubble from the 'townies.'

i just got offered an interview. it seems like a great town but i definitely will have to do some rotations back here in california. at least people can never really tell i'm part mexican. they just know i'm not white haha

Does anyone know how long they take between the interview and when we find out?
 
i really don't have a clue. i remember there was a problem with my transcript cause UCLA has a really weird chem series. other than that, i remember checking and my status page showing that i was in a group of applicants that maybe offered an interview. is that what is the small pool, i have no idea.

i'm excited that a family friend offered me jetblue standby tickets... so i'm just going to take wed, thur, fri off and get there and back for about 100 bucks. and if i want to spend the weekend in nyc with friends only 50 more. good way to blow off steam after an interview. point being, get to know someone who works at jetblue
