I finally got put in the small pool after a very long wait, complete in mid-August, I probably had the 6-8 week message for around 12 weeks.

I just got an interview invite! very excited. does anyone know how many people uvm accepts vs how many they interview? also, is interviewing later in the season (january) a bad sign?

angsty pre-med, I know

Out-state admissions data 6030 applied, 495 interviewed, 162 were accepted, 78 enrolled

Only for a fellow Ute...

haha and probably something like 161/162 were waitlisted first?

I've been complete since 10/5 and in the small pool since sometime within the first week or so of Nov. All this waiting is driving me nuts! I'm really hoping for an interview here...

So I interviewed on 10/6, and ever since then I'd been checking my application status page and it would just say something like "we hope you enjoyed your interview... blah blah blah...". Now it says:

"Dear xxx:

Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We will be contacting you shortly regarding the status of your application.

You can view your supplemental application by clicking here."

Is this a good sign? They waitlist by email right? So does that mean I'm either rejected or accepted?

Contacting can mean e-mail too, I think.

So this is probably a very stupid question but I dont know when my complete date was for UVM. I never got a "your application is complete email" but on the website it says they have received all my application materials and that i'm under review.
Any ideas on where I can find a complete date? Just trying to keep my timeline in place to satisfy my pre-med neurotic behavior...

there is no completion email. all of the info is updated on the website without notification to the applicant.

there is no waitlist via email. you just log onto the website and it says you are waitlisted.

I have already interviewed and when I logged on today it said that my file has been reviewed and I will be notified shortly. It also said that the page had been updated today.

1) Does anyone happen to know if this message is left over from pre-interview review of my file?

2) Does the message always say that it has been updated on the present day? (I can check this one tomorrow)

Thanks.

I can't comment on the interview stuff, but I've been in the small pool for a little over a month now and every day that I check the site it says that it was updated that day, so the update date really doesn't mean anything.

all i want for Christmas is an UVM acceptance... 😀

Small pooled today after 13 weeks. Im not sure if this is a good thing. I have pretty much lost hope for this school

Got this update today:

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

Any ideas?

It's a good thing. You're in the small pool. Now you just have to wait for the interview invite. It took me about a month to get an interview invite after I got this message.

Sometimes I really wonder how "small" this pool is... sorry if anybody's already covered it but can someone tell me just how many of those small pooled are eventually spotted by the adcom life guards? Good luck to all!

YES! Got accepted off the out-of-area waitlist.

Interviewed: 10/6
WL: 11/10
Accepted (via email): 12/18

For those wondering, I wrote a 3 paragraph LOI and sent it in 5 days after being wl.

OOS, Just accepted, Wooo Burlington! Interviewed middle of Oct. I don't think I was ever put on the waitlist (I checked yesterday afternoon and still had "hope you enjoyed your interview" message).

Just accepted, also sent a LOI after WL'ed, interview 10/06

best.Christmas.present.ever 😀

woot!

OOS Acceptance, interview mid-November, update letter in late November, never waitlisted.

I just got put on the waitlist. Interviewed 12/10. Does it seem odd that I was waitlisted so fast after my interview?

yay!

interviewed 9/29
accepted 12/18 (no update or LOI sent)
OOS and in love with uvm!

so excited!!!

if you are accepted and plan on matriculating... join the class of 2014 fb group - message me for info

OOS WL 11/10

Accepted!!! 12/18 🙂 M-0 status!

g. luck everyone

Accepted from OOS waitlist today!

I was on the waitlist for just over a month.
No status updates or LOI sent.

OOS tuition = lots of money, but I am excited about the acceptance.

I'm OOS. I just don't want to get my hopes up, but this is one of my top schools.

don't worry about it - look at half the kids who were just accepted, they were oos waitlisted first. if you're interested in the school send an LOI and hope for the best, which is all you can do anyways!

Interviewed: 10/6
"Will be contacted shortly" message: 12/15
OOS Waitlist: 12/18

It depends, I have been on this for a few months now without any word.

it's just the next step in their process. think of it as having passed the last pre-interview screen before they actually do/don't make the decision on whether to extend the offer to interview. it was however posted in this thread earlier (can't remember how long now) that thousands receive this "small pool" status every year. 600-something are interviewed every year. good luck!

Is the information at the top of the Online Applicant Center considered my status?

All it says is "Your supplemental application has been received.

Due to the extremely high volume of materials the admissions office receives, please allow 4-6 weeks for all application materials to be processed and your status to be updated. Please note that your letter(s) may have been received by this office but are still being processed."

I don't have the exact date, but I definitely submitted the supplemental a while ago. Does this mean my application hasn't even been reviewed at all? I'm going to send updates to a few schools soon with my fall grades and new activities- would it be bad to send them to UVM at this stage?

For those of whom that were accepted, how did they notify you?

the interwebs (email and status site), no phone call or letter....although I am in another country right now so they theoretically couldve called my cell and gotten scared by an operator speaking to them in spanish.

Rejected on Friday (post-interview) 🙁. Congrats to the rest of you lucky ones!

sorry to hear that. 🙁

do you mind sharing when you interviewed and when you were waitlisted, if you were? thank you and good luck with this grueling process.

Woops, I meant early November, not December. But yes, rejected without any other updates.

Are people getting rejected pre small pool status? Or does UVM wait until March to reject everyone they were never considering for an interview?

My status still says under preliminary review and I am pretty sure I was complete in mid to late October...
I found out about Vermont later in the application process from an acquaintance which is why I decided to apply despite the fact that it was October...is that going to completely kill my chances as an OOS?

I just got an interview invite for March 4. Am I just interviewing for the waitlist?

don't think like that! go in there and impress the crap out of them. make them accept you nah mean??

im still wading in the small pool so just the fact that you got an interview is a good sign!

Hey all-
Congrats for the guys that got in off the OOS waitlist! I'm currently sitting on the list as well. If you guys wrote thank yous, did you write one to the admissions office and to your interviewer? I'm having a really hard time finding an address for the guy that interviewed me.

Cheers,
JD

I didn't write one, and I am a firm believer that it doesn't matter. If you want to ask your interviewer something, or feel you are duty-bound to for some reason, then go for it.

or if you are genuinely thankful...?

many interviewers put a lot of time and effort into this whole process as well.

Oh I agree they're to be commended, and some people feel they need to send letters, which is fine - go for it. But I've been told twice at interviews that they inevitably get their desks cluttered by a gazilion letters long after they already sent in their evaluations. I'm sure somewhere out there, an interviewer actually reads all the letters they get, but so far not mine!

UVM specific - my interviewer there was the only one who didn't give me a card or an email address.
