LETired, that was a great message and it really captured the hugely positive side of going to a southern school 🙂

I was wondering, when did you hear back from Vandy about your admission decision? (since we're all interviewing around the same time you did) 10/15-ish or later?

AMCAS says it's less than that, plus given that a number of schools included uncompleted secondaries as applications to the school, i don't think vanderbilt's interview rate is that high.

Wow this is early! I go back to school the 20th or the 21st and have to schedule my flights... you say they are cheaper the 21st? My school may or may not be in Nashville... 😉 BNA is a very easy airport!
 
Haha I hear yeah. I'm glad that I live 3 miles away from Vandy. I won't have to worry about transportation for my first interview.

I got my interview invite today, super excited. I just need to write an autobiography now.
 
What was the latest date that you interviewed/rejected people got the "we acknowledge you" email from Vandy?

Just curious...I wanna know

I'm waiting patient for Mayo (probable rejection), BU (certain rejection), and Vandy (probable rejection), the rest I dunno....but based upon what I've heard this is how I expect things to unfold.

From what I can tell it is going by dates of verification unless you are from Vandy or Nashville. They have reached the apps that were verified around 15th June or so.

I think most of us are still from the July 14th email date,
 
Yeah, I got the verification email 6/17 and haven't heard anything.
 
I'm so anxious I'm stress eating...

It is not normal to plough through an entire bag of chips ahoy
 
haha stress has the exact opposite effect on me. I can't eat anything. O well I am not stressed yet and neither should you be. This is a nerve wracking process and just going through this requires a lot of patience. I think its too early to be worrying about anything.

While walking today I was thinking of this thread and realized that here at SDN we try to figure out the tiniest details like how committees review app - in order of submission, verification or even last name haha. At first I was worried about not having the Vandy letter (R or I) but now I know to wait for atleast another week or so.🙂

seeing your post made my day, we have pretty much the same stats, so if you got an invite, there's still hope for me too :xf::xf: i submitted later than you all did, just got the confirmation email this past week, i hope to hear soon!!!

and if it's a no . . . at least that means i won't have to take orgo 2 this semester. i just hope I get some news either way before classes start. about how long did it take you guys between the confirmation email and the snail mail?
 
How's it going guys and gals? Congratulations to everyone who have received interview invites and best wishes to those still waiting to hear back!

It looks like LET has taken care of you guys pretty well. I'm also a MSI at Vanderbilt, so I'll try to help out with what I can. If you have questions, just PM me because I don't check this site that often. Although I will probably agree with most of what LET says, some of you might appreciate the perspective of a male West Coaster instead of the well-traveled LET!

I am almost sure most of the people who have received invites to this point got their confirmation email on 7/14
 
I have no clue if I'll make it past their screening, my stats are so weird. Anyway, I got their confirmation 8/4, so I guess I shouldn't expect to hear until September?

yeah, i checked and mine was 8/4 too. I guess they do stuff in batches. Did anyone get the email between 7/14 and 8/4?

It sounds like it took a little over 2 weeks from the email to the postmark . . . so for the lucky ones in this batch maybe it will be by the end of August?

Got my confirmation the same day...I'm an undergrad here though, so according to some of the rumors I could get my letter (and by "letter" I mean "rejection" 🙄) a little sooner.

Yeah...but that just helps people who applied late. The 7/14 people are worried because the adcoms have had time to look at them already but still haven't said anything. Although you really shouldn't lose hope, if the later applicants are unimpressive you could get lucky.

but I don't wanna take orgo 2 this semester unless I think I have a chance there . . . not to be picky but it will be a scheduling nightmare, there's only one session and it conflicts with another class i have to take . . . (i know, i know, but i didn't realize until after I applied that they want all prereqs done by fall. that seems like a crazy rule to enforce!)

although if i don't take it in fall and they decide to interview me in january, i guess that rule isnt as firm as i thought?? 😕

You're welcome everyone! (and Vman, go back to reading about ethics!). I just got back from hanging out with my awesome classmates, so I've got all kinds of love for this school.
I actually heard 10/15 on the dot. Dean Zic (the dean of admissions) calls in the evenings, and that day there was actually a presidential debate so he didn't call until after that...it was 8ish or 9ish Cali time actually, so I can imagine how shocking it was for the east coasters! You'll see, there'll be a big faction of SDNers online on 10/15 throughout the whole day basically holding hands and freaking out together. It's the greatest phone call ever, and I still get a smile on my face when I hear Dean Zic's voice in the hallway.

Anyway, I digress. 10/15! Expect to get a phone call in the evening if you've gotten in, but don't despair if you haven't (as I said, no news is just no news and there are people who didn't get a phone call at all).

Don't worry yet. As we discussed previously all of the 7/14 batch haven't heard back yet. Except for Vandy undergrads and other Nashville people they are going in order of AMCAS verification and they seem to be around 15th June or so according to the posts on this thread.

We still have some hope!! Gotta be positive until a letter tells us otherwise 🙂

Well that sucks since I was verified 6/4 and I haven't heard anything (besides that 7/14 email), maybe they are scheduling all their interviews and then getting rid of everyone else... 🙁

I am sorry about the delay with your app. I don't think hope is completely lost yet. I think most schools also have some sort of hold pile that they review after going through more apps. No news is always considered good news in this process. :xf::xf:

I think we've speculated that their snail mails are based on dates of AMCAS verification, NOT date of receipt.

so... for anyone who was AMCAS verified past JUNE 15th, ya'll got hope! Like me!
 
Yikes, I was verified June 8th... even less hope now haha

I was verified June 18th, if that helps refine your theory any.

O well so much for us non-letter people 'trying' to hypothesize how they are going about it. Now its just wait and watch until we get the snail mail 🙁

Likewise on the early verification but no letter (6/8) - I feel your pain. Plus ksmi, who lives only an hour northwest of me, got her letter almost a week ago. So if it exists, I should have received one by now.
I feel doomed, since the only posts are interviews - maybe rejections come later...

I would assume they only sent out interviews, for the initial batch of applicants...maybe we will be reviewed later if not deemed good enough for the initial interviews? Id assume thats how its done..though theres no doubt many of us will be getting rejection letters later this month who did not get the initial invites.
 
I got the interview letter today after receiving initial contact from vandy on the 14th. It was postmarked July 30 though - evidence of how jammed up letters can get in the postal system. Don't lose hope.

I feel the same way. Initially I was patient and optimistic, now I am not so sure. I hope the mailman delivers some good news soon.
 
Anyone have the link to the secondary... my roomate left me a vm with my login information but i can't seem to find the online secondary on the page... i feel so "challenged" right now
 
To those who are theorizing - I was verified on July 2nd and got the secondary on 7/31 (postmarked 7/30).
