any one interviewed already? How was it?

i interviewed here too, I also had an amazing experience. I'm very familiar with some large medical centers but Vanderbilt took the cake so far...

people were amazing. accents were lovely. whatnot. i think it would be a good place to be a student, for some.

if you are interviewing, you will find out more, whatever you deem good and bad.

its a relaxed interview, primarily based on your AMCAS. i think your interviewer will definitely read your file. however, the healthcare debate has reignited so you should know something about that and you should know a lot about the field you are entering into - essential position interviewing.

but yea the students were amazing.

there is a HUGE vandy alum bias. just go look at the class of 20XY posters and the institutions of the students. it will be obvious

no i'm pretty sure that the primary AMCAS application is all that the interviewers have. they don't get to see the LORs or the secondary application

I'm interviewing there 11/5 - anyone else there on that day?

Apparently - they send out SNAIL MAIL to inform you that you got an interview. My gut reaction to seeing a letter that small is always "damn I got rejected". So that was a pleasant surprise. Problem was - they sent the letter out aug 13th to my apartment. I had to go home for about a month (last minute thing), so I didn't get my letter till the second week of september! GAH! 🙁 So now my interview's in Nov.

Oh well. I'm just happy I got one!

Anyone have overall comments about the interview? Pressured? Not pressured?

And I've got an important question: Do they end on time? My flight's out is at 7pm... and they are supposed to end at 3:45. That's cutting it close as is for me - but it's nashville - not too many flight options 🙁

take the shuttle they suggest you to take. its much cheaper

and you have more than enough time, you are gonna be bored to death at that airport

also we have answered the interview questions in couple of posts above yours

How long does the shuttle take? My flight out is at 5:15. Would I be able to make it to the airport in 45 minutes or so?

I took the 3:35pm Gray Line shuttle and was chilling by my gate by 4:15 for a 5:35 flight. I definitely could have stayed for the Children's Hospital tour and taken the 4:05 shuttle. Good luck!

I've requested a student host, but they don't really get back to you until Friday the week before. Any recommendations on a reasonably cheap place to stay the night before with no penalty for cancellation? I was thinking of perhaps reserving a place in the meantime so I'll be sure I'll have a place to stay.

Can I get the Grayline round trip if I'm leaving from a different stop than the one I'm going to? In all likelihood I'll be going to the hotel/motel/student host the night before and taking it from the medical center after the interview.

the interviews here are low pressure and conversational. its hard to know how you did afterward because you just chat though.
i honestly loved vandy... its just a friendly environment. from the people in the admissions office to every student i talked to and my fellow interviewees...

I just got an interview letter in the mail today. I was for sure that I'd been rejected since it's just this little letter. I submitted my primary to them at the end of August.

I'm really confused about this autobiography. Are we supposed to mention stuff about medicine and what events in our life led us to medicine and stuff like extracurriculars and stuff or is it just strictly an autobio like "i was born here, moved here this, then, then, then and my family is this this this" etc??

first rejection... kind of exciting actually

good luck guys!

those who are receiving notifications today, when did you get the email confirming receipt of your primary application?

I got the e-mail notification on 8/18 and the interview invite today

Where is my rejection letter? 😛 Seriously though, I'm wondering how long one should wait between the complete email before calling to see if something's wrong.

when did you get your email?

August 4th. I think there are still a couple of us waiting so at least I'm not alone.... but there have also been plenty of people rejected/invited from that day too. I guess I'll try to be patient until the other stragglers post that they've received a letter. 🙄

ah, I see. yeah, I received the email several weeks after you guys, so I guess I'll need to sit tight for a bit longer.

Finally I got the long awaited news. Looks like I was "extra special" got the first rejection from this crowd...lol.

Oh sorry to read that you guys got the dreaded letter.... guess mine will be here next week. 🙁

Has anyone from August 18th heard anything? I'm waiting for any news...

glad to see i'm not the only one from 8/4 still waiting. i am paranoid that my mom is gonna hold out on me and not want to tell me that i got a rejection (even though i told her i'm expecting one, and need to know ASAP so i can move on.) i am using my home address for applying but live like 3 hours away, so i don't go home much. so I am putting all my trust in her to open my med-school mail and be honest about the contents . . . 🙂

Does anyone know what the earliest available date is for the remaining interview dates? I think we're into November now, but anyone know how far? Thanks

8/4 group, got my rejection today. heh, I was getting sick of checking my mailbox everyday anyway. Good luck everyone!🙂

So I've heard there are in fact student hosts available here, but I haven't been able to find out how we go about arranging that. Anyone know where I should be looking?

So is anyone from 8/4, 8/11, and 8/18 getting invites now? Or are all letter coming to those groups at this point rejections? I check the mail obsessively, but I really think I'm just waiting for a rejection now.

hey guys! i've been stalking sdn for too long now to not contribute. i was part of the 8/11 email group and I got my secondary/interview invite yesterday in the mail. location: california

hope this helps those who are wondering/gauging their own progress

i just submitted the monstrous secondary after two weeks and scheduled my interview last night for 10/5. there are plenty of dates open as early as september to as late as december i believe.

anyone know if the hosts would be willing to accommodate two nights?

Wait, really? I submitted my secondary several days ago (9/12), and the earliest date open for me was November 3rd. How is that possible?
