For those who were waiting for today's announcement,
did you all have the "we have met to discuss your file" hold status??

Congrats!
Did you have the post-interview survey status page or "we have met to review your file..." hold page before the announcement?

Or could anyone else still waiting answer this question?

(I still have the post-interview survey page)

My status was updated a few days ago and said that my file has been reviewed and a decision has been made. It said that my decision would be released on 2/1 or in March. I forget exactly what it said, but I got the impression that if I didn't hear then if just meant they weren't sure if they wanted to reject, accept, or waitlist me (basically on hold). At about 3:06 I got another 'status update' email and when I signed in it said I was accepted.

Congrats to the others who where accepted today!

I still have the post-interview survey page staring back at me
I guess I wan't reviewed yet for this annoucement..

I suspect that I'll remain waiting because every status-change I've gotten from VCU has been very shortly after 6 PM EST.

Congrats to all those that got in today 🙂

For those of you that were accepted today, what was your status number before your interview? (ie. 1, 2, 3, 4)

I have never before heard of this "a decision has been made" status - I was under the impression there was only one hold message you could receive prior to an acceptance. I'm also IS - my stats are above the average of previous entering classes. I did not receive an offer today. when I interviewed, our guide told us that the accepted priority score INCREASES at each acceptance date. Does anyone else think it is reasonable to assume that the average stats for a currently accepted student are currently higher than the ultimate average and that the current accepted average will continue to decline as previously accepted students pull out, and those with lower stats receive offers?

I am also instate with well above average numbers and did not get an offer today. I interviewed december 16th.

Yes that is what I was thinking as well.

Also consider this... for the 2008 entering class, they accepted 205 IS for 111 spots. The current class is probably 3/4 full or about 83 people. Add say, another 30-40 for people who have dropped out, for a total of 113-123 admissions so far. That leaves 82-92 more acceptances. You would figure that the applicants with the higher states/profile have been accepted already, probably having interviewed earlier. Add the fact that the profile of admitted students is probably better that the profile of the actual entering class, as the higher range of admits goes elsewhere.

I think this means that if you are at or near the middle of the entering class's stat's, you probably get one of the later 80-90 offers. I'm not worried... yet!

IM IN! got an am email at 6:11 EST.

1st acceptance, im OOS, and i am freaking out!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in!!!! OOS.. love this school!! so excited.. first acceptance!! Thank you VCU! 😀 I interviewed 1/19

Congrats everybody who got in today!!!

Especially OneMCATAway, you have the most posts on this thread and have been waiting for a while - I know you wanted this one!

Hope to see you all at second look.

Congratulations to everyone who just got accepted!

Sadly, I'm still waiting. I'm really getting nervous. I started interviewing at schools in early October and I still don't have any acceptances. What are the chances of having 4 interviews and not getting accepted anywhere?

I really liked VCU 🙁

Hey Point Break,

What is your application status?

Does it say something like "we have reviewed your file...we will be making announcements on 10/15, 12/15 etc..." or do you still have the 'post-interview survey" page?

I think hotcocoa is referring to the first application status as the "hold" status...

I think...😛

Mine said something like that. I was writing it down from memory so they might not have used exactly the words I mentioned earlier. Sorry if I confused anyone :/

congrats to those accepted! I am still hoping and waiting, I have interviewed 1/7, instate, and have not had any updates. I do not know how this is looking for me.

#2 and for someone else who asked that was the "may" status!

Thank you thank you im still in shock and so happy to have my first acceptance 🙂

i dont think its stats but rather the ranking number that the committee gives you 😉

Thanks metallica its nice to finally officially join the class of 2014 😀

so correct me if i'm wrong... if we didn't get rejected today, that means we are probably going to waitlist?

you can still get accepted on march 16th or waitlisted later in march, dont lose hope!! good luck to everyone who's waiting :luck:

It would have been extremely nice of them if they would post our priority score, post-interview, on the status page.

This is understood. But certainly your stats influence your priority score - and since we can't know our scores, the best indicator we have to work with at this point is our stats.

In state, interviewed 12/10/09. Any thoughts on why I may not have been presented? I know I wasn't presented by the 4th year who interviewed me on Dec 15th but I figured I would this go round, any thoughts?

Hopefully someone can answer your question. i have so many of them myself. I am hoping that maybe somehow they did not possibly update everyone's status and there could be more acceptances later on in the week since that had rough weather there. Keep your fingers crossed guys.. There still may be hope for us. The wait is killing me though. Can't even read tonite

I think that they have to enter them so it may take some time for the status update to show up. No worries

Transparency would be nice.
I mean someone who interviewed on the same day got an acceptance while I still have the interview survey page for weeks now...
which prb means I haven't even received a priority score 🙁

in-state, interviewed mid-december...still waiting. i have the "the committee has met to discuss your file. offers will be made 12/15, 2/1, 3/15, etc" status, which I got about 2 weeks after getting the interview survey status. and yeah, like some of the rest of you, i have higher stats than last year's matriculating class, too.

i find it really odd....yet oddly....encouraging, that none of us in-staters seem to have been admitted this round yet. perhaps they're gonna tell some of us tomorrow?! here's to hoping!

love the attitude, definitely one we need to all take. mine is still the survey message as it has been since around 6pm of 12/10/09, the same day I interviewed.

Well that's the case of every school. Anyway, I didn't hear anything today either and I have the decision has been made status.

wait a minute, what "decision has been made" status are we talking about here? I thought that, after the interview survey page, there was only one possible status update to have before admission/rejection/wait-listing, which is the

"The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in late-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school."

Is this the message you're referring to? It never explicitly says that a decision has been made, hence my confusion.

Does anyone know what the accepted priority scores are? Is it 3, 4, and 5 are generally?

Also, I talked to the Admissions office today and this is what she told me:

You are presented and the only two decisions they decide upon then are whether or not to continue looking at your file. She told after being presented to the committee, expect an update on your status by Thursday at 6 as to whether or not you will be considered for admission on the March 15th date.

She was very friendly as everyone there seems to be though!

Good luck everyone!

Accepted IS Interviewed 1/5 . My email came at 6:05. I had the "Committee has met to review your file... on hold for action at a later date... expect to make offers on 2/1 ect..." message before. Average sats (in my opinion), lots of research (2 publications), and significant clinical experience.

Does anyone know what the accepted priority scores are? Is it 3, 4, and 5 are generally?

I was under the impression the lower priority score, the better (ie 1 is best, 5 worst), but that was just my understanding after the morning talk with the dean at the interview.

guess im waiting until march... :xf:

To everyone that is still waiting...have you guys tried emailing Dr. W-H Cook/admissions office asking if students with similar priority scores as yours got an acceptance from previous cycles?
I was browsing thru previous cycle's forum and Dr. W-H Cook answered that question but i don't know if its still too early to ask that now...what do you guys think?

Hey everyone, anyone get that standard message:

"The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken."

And still haven't been invited for an interview yet? I guess I'm a little worried that it's already February, which seems to be such a pivotal time for acceptances/waitlists and the next real decision is March or nada. I didn't know if I should call about any potenital interview openings or if that may seem a little too pushy?
