no surprises 🙁... ooh vcu, why you do you do this to me?

Accepted! I never expected to see that email! Congrats to everyone else who received an update.. and good luck to the rest of you <3

o well....waitlist it is

EDIT: For the hold people, I wouldn't worry too much. I believe there is a fair amount of waitlist movement here.

awesome, so some of us can look forward to more waiting lol.

aww, i hope at least for your sake that the news comes out soon, given what happened with the other school we applied to. i, myself, have not heard from VCU, though it's my first choice. good luck to all.

*sighh
still no acceptances 🙁

officially emo now

oh well... i guess that's that. im just happy that i dont have to continue waiting for another stupid notification date. i guess after 4 months of cooling off and heartbreak from this school, i just don't care as much anymore.

Yea in my opinion, this was the stupidest way a medical school could accept people....

I'm not too bummed as I have some schools to pick from, but still I hate you to VCU (I'm not bitter 😀)

Sorry everybody that didn't get in. Especially koko and dadocca since I see yall here a lot. 🙁

Wow, there weren't many acceptances posted this time around.

yeah, i really wish they'd change up their procedure for admissions. it would have been really nice to have known i wasn't getting in back in October.

did they give out any rejections today? do we assume that nothing tonight definitely means wait list?

Hey guys - got the acceptance email at 6:06pm.

Good luck to everyone!

im wondering the same thing - i called this morning and she made it seem like everyone woud hear today. also the status site says that decisions will be out today - so it doesn't really make sense

Has anybody actually been rejected? or is everyone (besides those definitively accepted) still on hold?

Last year, the waitlist was released on the 27th, but I would like to know about rejections as well...

I hope they form the waitlist earlier this year because I need some kind of answer soon or I'm going to go out of my mind!

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm still on hold. I think they make the waitlist in a week or so. I wonder if they'll reject anyone then? Or maybe we'll all be waitlisted. Would be cruel to make us wait another two weeks just for a rejection letter, when you'd think they would have done that by now... sigh

To those who got acceptances today, congrats! To everyone else waiting still, I share your pain/disappointment 🙁

as an alcoholic drink away his anxieties, so too will i play video games to waste my life away. in 2 weeks! good luck everyone, feels like i'll fail so w/e

I was also wondering about the wait-list or rejection update?? would they both be uploaded at some point in late march or do we just wait around thinking we are on the waiting list but end up being rejected?!?!

Also..will the acceptance email be sent out for the rest of the evening or just about at 6 pm (ET)??

So if our status still says hold, does that mean we're on the waitlist?

I believe so at least from what I have read in other, older threads...Good luck to everybody that did not get accepted today...Lets just hope and wait (story of my life for the last 9 months)

I read back through the thread and I guess the wait list will be made in a week or so? Does anyone know how to find out our priority score?

As far as I've read about VCU, you never get to know your priority score. (I wish I would - then I would have some sort of answer as to where I stand-ish) Some people in other old threads said that by e-mailing the Dean, she had said that "people last year with your score have gotten off the WL", but nothing more specific than that (and even that will change year to year).

I have no idea of how you could do that...if anybody does please help!!!

I guess the official waiting time starts now for some of us.

Accepted! I got the e-mail at 6:05pm but I was in class so I just saw it. This school was my number one choice when I first began this whole crazy mess and I'm so thankful that I got in but I have some other offers that I'm a little reluctant to let go. Congratulations to those of you who got in! For those of you who are still waiting, I wish you all the best!

Thanks metallica81788! There's still a chance I suppose but who knows? The whole med school process is such a crapshoot that nothing surprises me anymore.

Are you fully set on attending VCU?

It's looking more like LSU everyday now. I really really liked VCU and it seemed like I would be happier there than at LSU, I just don't think it was enough to justify more than doubling my debt, you know?

We'll see, there's still time. Today was a "I want to go to VCU" day.

i'm in the same boat. trying to decide between Stony Brook (where i'm IS) and VCU (which is OOS). I loved VCU though, so I'm thinking the debt might be worth it. It's so impossible to really know for sure.

I really don't get why the couldn't have made the waitlist and rejection list at the same time...I was waiting till Feb 1st, then found out I gotta wait till March 16th, and now again more waiting....Ohhh well 🙁

Good luck. I love seeing posts like this because it lets me know I'm not the only one that is considering taking on much more debt in a situation that's not as easy as 'state school v Harvard'.

I was only in Richmond for less a day, so I'll be going back over spring break to get a better feel for everything.

It's a good school, but if I were in your position, I *definitely* would not double my debt to come here.

That's pretty much what I've convinced myself over the last couple of weeks. Either way, my spot will go to someone who really wants it - me or someone from the waitlist.

The key for me is just learning to like/accepting the other school more and not feeling forced to go there, you know?

Absolutely. I don't know what issues you have with LSU, but keep in mind that the view that you have of MCV is primarily based on the minimal interaction you've had on the interview trail and perhaps with current students. Your knowledge of LSU may also be thusly limited.

Until you matriculate at a school and spend a significant amount of time there, you know very little about the scope of issues affecting students. Although I only have direct experience with this school, I suspect most, if not all, medical schools suffer from the same kinds of political and bureaucratic challenges. You'll probably have a very similar experience in either place, but at LSU you'll come out with half the debt.
