Withdrew my acceptance today! Good luck to everyone else who's still waiting.
If I remember currectly when someone drops the person on top of the list (highest ranking among the waitlisters) gets their spot. This can change a little bit for the people on top of the list and the dean can make that decision. Don't read so much into it just keep hope alive and if VCU is your top choice make sure to call/email showing interest 🙂
Good Luck everyone![]()
Thanks to all who drop their acceptance (especially oos people, hehe)! Anyone know when the next batch goes out? I am trying to hold on to some hope![]()
Right there waith ya dadocca! ..sigh.
So, do they send acceptance offers in batches? Or just as people drop...?
it would be REALLY nice of them to send acceptances out on the Friday evening before a long weekend.... 🙄
😍
i find myself increasingly obsessseddddd over this waitlist... driving people around me crazy![]()
same here, my friends refuse to talk to me, bc this is all i talk about 🙁
Just got accepted off the waitlist (OOS)!! However, I'm pretty sure I will be withdrawing. Hope one of you gets this OOS spot!
got the status notification email today with my first md acceptance! 🙂 i loved vcu and plan to attend.
I interviewed back in november and have been waiting since then.
Oos, nontraditional, female, gpa <3.5, mcat <30
edit/i wanted to add that i didn't contact vcu at all. I was afraid to hear what my place on the waitlist was and didn't send in updated transcripts or letters of intent or anything. I honestly didn't expect anything from vcu.
so far it's always been in batches. i think they are waiting 2 weeks or so after the 5/19 notifications to see how many of those people (as well as others that are accepted from earlier days) drop before sending the next batch.
Oh okay, thank you for the info because I was wondering about that.
Good luck once again to all those still waiting..... . . .. . . . .
One of the doctors who I work with is an MCV alum (fresh out of residency) and said that VCU has a scholarship for the last student accepted into each class that was set up by an orthopedist who was the last accepted into a class many years ago.
Even though it would suck to be accepted last out of everyone, a scholarship would be pretty sweet. I'm wondering if this is still true?
I am currently on the waitlist as many of you all are..I was wondering how that adversely affects your chances of getting loans? Since we will be filling our loan applications so late, is there a chance that we are denied? Or not allowed to receive them due to limited funding? I've been wondering about this, and if anyone could help clarify this, that'd be great. Thanks.
Hey guys, I have a few questions. First I'm an out of state student.
1) I will be living outside... if I rent a house, as opposed to buying a
house, will I become a Virginian resident after a year or two?
2) If I become a Virginian resident, will I be able to apply for in-state
tuition?
Thank you for your time!
I don't believe that owning versus buying has any effect on your ability to gain Virginia residency. I am not certain of that, though.
You will not be able to apply for in-state tuition if you come to Virginia for school. You'll pay out of state tuition for all 4 years. Even married people who have a spouse working here have been unable to get in-state tuition.
You were supposed to submit your financial aid by the April 30 deadline I believe. You can still do it now. The federal government loans (e.g. Stafford) shouldn't really affect you though since they're given by the federal government but through the university. I'm not sure how the other loans are affected by this though.
Anyone resubmitting AMCAS today? I just dusted off my ol' MCAT review books 🙁

Thanks for the support everyone. My application is just about ready to be sent. I figure, it can't hurt to send in a reapplication to the schools you really care about, especially the ones you're WL-ed at. The only trouble now is trying to figure out when to do a retake. Ideally, I'd retake in mid-July, but I have a 2 week trip during that time that will almost surely keep me too busy from studying.
I'm contemplating studying hard up until the first week in July, retaking on the first day it's offered, then leaving for my trip and hoping for the best. Otherwise, it's take a 2 week break in July, and wait until August. Guess I should get off SDN and start get back to the books 🙄
