I interviewed here and those two complaints seem pretty legit.
The buildings are old (like 1970s old) and not very pretty (ironically in stark contrast to the ugrad which is gorgeous). They are currently doing some construction now, so maybe it will be a bit better next year. But I heard that the neighborhood had issues with construction, not the school itself, so it seemed like their hands are tied a bit in terms of updating the school (so it's not that they don't care about students like others on this board have said). Still, it seems like a good hospital, with many embassy workers and other politicians receiving care there. Pretty buildings are nice but that shouldn't be determining factor. But I was very surprised by the look of the school (bad surprise).
Competition is an issue, one that the adcoms even brought up. But, I would think many med schools have their share of competition. The biggest issue to me was that the SMP students take classes with you. So the lectures are quite large, and there is a group of students that absolutely need to get honors (their future depends on it), so I think that is where a lot of the competition comes from. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think the performance of the SMP students really affects you as a med student though in terms of the curves, at least that's what my host says. I need to look more into that though.
If you are interested in the school, I would at least apply and go if you are offered an interview. I heard many negative things before going. Some were legitimate. But, I enjoyed my day, was accepted, and I am now seriously considering it.
