Rejected. Not sure I really wanted to attend an institution that relies on the desperation of pre-meds for its fiscal viability (the SMP), but that could just be my bitterness talking.

anyone know the timeline for the ppl who got pooled??

do they wait until all interviews are done before they start accepting/rejecting ppl who got pooled? if so, when is that??

I also interviewed Oct 1st. Wonder what's taking so long. Knowing Gtown, it could be another few weeks..

Do you guys know if it's an open or closed interview? As in.. do they read your application before the interview?

I'm interviewing next week - so any advice would be great!!!!

I interviewed here yesterday and it is a semi open file interview. They have access to your personal statement, secondary and list of activities but no numbers. However, my interviewer did not read my essays before the interview.

i interviewed the same week (oct. 8th or something) and have yet to receive word.....fingers crossed

with one post-interview rejection under my belt i'm really needing an acceptance to boost my confidence :/

I hope to get and interview here. Already got an invite for GW, but gtown is where i really want to go...

Have you considered an in-the-area email?

I actually got a GW invite, then wrote one to Gtown. I had only been complete a few days, but they offered me an invite so I was able to do the two in consecutive days.

Is anyone else interviewing this Tuesday? I'm really excited for the interview. Hope it goes well!!

i'm on the fence about applying here too. i've heard a lot of negative things on sdn and from med students i've talked to. the one thing that really turns me off is the over-competitiveness. i think the issue was addressed a little earlier, but from what students have told me, the students tend to be gunners/very competitive. can any current gtown students on here comment about that?

Many classmates of mine at Vanderbilt have said to not apply to Georgetown after they interviewed. They cited antiquated facilities and competitive students as their main reasons. I've always loved Georgetown and would've gone there if I hadn't got into Vanderbilt, so I was a bit disconcerted. Also, my friend a year above me had a 3.73/33Q and didn't even hear back from them at all. I'm wondering if the shear amount of applicants muddles up their application process. I cannot find anyone on SDN speaking well of the school, but I still am considering applying in June.

Thanks!! didnt really consider writing one, but I'll whip up an email and send it first thing tomorrow

I interviewed here and those two complaints seem pretty legit.

The buildings are old (like 1970s old) and not very pretty (ironically in stark contrast to the ugrad which is gorgeous). They are currently doing some construction now, so maybe it will be a bit better next year. But I heard that the neighborhood had issues with construction, not the school itself, so it seemed like their hands are tied a bit in terms of updating the school (so it's not that they don't care about students like others on this board have said). Still, it seems like a good hospital, with many embassy workers and other politicians receiving care there. Pretty buildings are nice but that shouldn't be determining factor. But I was very surprised by the look of the school (bad surprise).

Competition is an issue, one that the adcoms even brought up. But, I would think many med schools have their share of competition. The biggest issue to me was that the SMP students take classes with you. So the lectures are quite large, and there is a group of students that absolutely need to get honors (their future depends on it), so I think that is where a lot of the competition comes from. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think the performance of the SMP students really affects you as a med student though in terms of the curves, at least that's what my host says. I need to look more into that though.

If you are interested in the school, I would at least apply and go if you are offered an interview. I heard many negative things before going. Some were legitimate. But, I enjoyed my day, was accepted, and I am now seriously considering it.

Georgetown library, facilities, technology and administration = 👎barf:

Let us know what you find. I hope I'm not the only one who would be interested to hear!

Talk about taking their sweeeet time! Sullivan did say it would be around early Dec though...I was hoping it would be sooner

I assume there is still hope and there are no silent rejections? I've been complete since early September and the initial e-mail said up to 8 weeks.

I have to agree with others. The rooms, chairs, and buildings are really old. When I was interviewing at Gtown they were in the process of removing asbestos.

But there are a lot of good things too about the school - mainly its reputation when applying to competitive residencies like Orthopedic. Plus, it's in a highly spiritual/cultural community.

The students who gave us the tour were really friendly and relaxed. I never noticed the competitive environment.

Hoping they accept me soon!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about it yet, I know someone who was complete for 14+ weeks and got an interview.

Cen, do you know if they sent an update letter? I've been receiving mass rejections like it's going out of style.

No, she didn't send an update letter. When I interviewed at georgetown it seemed like they're really receptive to update letters so you might as well go for it.

are you allowed to curse on this thing?

they're taking $&&*%* forever to get back re: my Oct 1 interview.

I saw this thread get updated with your post and I thought S***, he got a response and my status is still completed. I fully support your bid to curse😎
I have a gut feeling it will be this week though...it's gotta be!

Decisions are out for Oct 1st interview group!

I got competitive applicant pool...I'm gonna withdraw my application anyway as I've received other offers.

Good luck to everyone else!

+1 on the rejection. Gotta seat somewhere already so it doesn't matter

The resemblance is uncanny....

rejected pre-interview. (slightly) non-trad, 3.6 GPA/ 3.63 sGPA, 32, complete 10/18 (submitted 9/25). 🙁

Edit: I haven't even logged in yet.. just got an email saying they've reached a decision and I haven't interviewed. Only one option in that scenario. lol

Rejected Pre-Interview as well.
OOS Complete 10/22

Good luck to everyone else!

Competitive applicant pooled. Surprised me because my interview went pretty rough.

At the interview they made it sound like a huge portion of their class comes from the pool- after they write a letter of intent (or multiple ones). They made it sound like they want students to grovel at their feet to get in. One of the weirdest admissions procedures I've encountered yet.

I'm not going to play their little game, I'll be withdrawing.

This...exact same feeling I got.

Oct1st interview and still no result...waiting sucks

Rejected today pre-interview.
Also non-traditional, received graduate degree two years ago and have been working past two years.

Complete 10/21

Nothing better than to brighten up our Friday than mass rejection emails, lame.

Still no word from them, completed on 9/14. I guess I'm still being considered and survived this round of rejections. Either way, it would be nice to hear something, still waiting on 12 schools 😕

They do accept at least some people without putting them in the competitive pool first. I got a call from my interviewer last night telling me I was in, and then my status changed to accepted this morning. I interviewed during the last week of October and was honestly surprised to be accepted after they emphasized how many people they wait list after the interview.

I'm not sure whether or not I'd want to go to Georgetown - I didn't get the best impression from my interview day but I'm willing to go for a second look.
