anyone know the timeline for the ppl who got pooled??
do they wait until all interviews are done before they start accepting/rejecting ppl who got pooled? if so, when is that??
has anyone from the Oct 1st interview group heard anything? it seems likely that they will send word this week, right?
pure anxiety
Do you guys know if it's an open or closed interview? As in.. do they read your application before the interview?
I'm interviewing next week - so any advice would be great!!!!
i interviewed the same week (oct. 8th or something) and have yet to receive word.....fingers crossedI also interviewed Oct 1st. Wonder what's taking so long. Knowing Gtown, it could be another few weeks..
I hope to get and interview here. Already got an invite for GW, but gtown is where i really want to go...
still no news for the Oct-1st group?I also interviewed Oct 1st. Wonder what's taking so long. Knowing Gtown, it could be another few weeks..
i'm on the fence about applying here too. i've heard a lot of negative things on sdn and from med students i've talked to. the one thing that really turns me off is the over-competitiveness. i think the issue was addressed a little earlier, but from what students have told me, the students tend to be gunners/very competitive. can any current gtown students on here comment about that?
Have you considered an in-the-area email?
I actually got a GW invite, then wrote one to Gtown. I had only been complete a few days, but they offered me an invite so I was able to do the two in consecutive days.
still no news for the Oct-1st group?
Many classmates of mine at Vanderbilt have said to not apply to Georgetown after they interviewed. They cited antiquated facilities and competitive students as their main reasons. I've always loved Georgetown and would've gone there if I hadn't got into Vanderbilt, so I was a bit disconcerted. Also, my friend a year above me had a 3.73/33Q and didn't even hear back from them at all. I'm wondering if the shear amount of applicants muddles up their application process. I cannot find anyone on SDN speaking well of the school, but I still am considering applying in June.
total silence.
I interviewed here and those two complaints seem pretty legit.
The buildings are old (like 1970s old) and not very pretty (ironically in stark contrast to the ugrad which is gorgeous). They are currently doing some construction now, so maybe it will be a bit better next year. But I heard that the neighborhood had issues with construction, not the school itself, so it seemed like their hands are tied a bit in terms of updating the school (so it's not that they don't care about students like others on this board have said). Still, it seems like a good hospital, with many embassy workers and other politicians receiving care there. Pretty buildings are nice but that shouldn't be determining factor. But I was very surprised by the look of the school (bad surprise).
Competition is an issue, one that the adcoms even brought up. But, I would think many med schools have their share of competition. The biggest issue to me was that the SMP students take classes with you. So the lectures are quite large, and there is a group of students that absolutely need to get honors (their future depends on it), so I think that is where a lot of the competition comes from. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think the performance of the SMP students really affects you as a med student though in terms of the curves, at least that's what my host says. I need to look more into that though.
If you are interested in the school, I would at least apply and go if you are offered an interview. I heard many negative things before going. Some were legitimate. But, I enjoyed my day, was accepted, and I am now seriously considering it.

Talk about taking their sweeeet time! Sullivan did say it would be around early Dec though...I was hoping it would be sooner
I wouldn't worry about it yet, I know someone who was complete for 14+ weeks and got an interview.
are you allowed to curse on this thing?
they're taking $&&*%* forever to get back re: my Oct 1 interview.
right there with you. rejected post-interview, pretty surprised. oh well....another one bites the dust!rejected post interview. i am surprised i wasn't CAPed. my interview went very well.
Rejected pre-interview. Too many rejections on here this morning!
+1, my second rejection of the morning 🙁
rejected pre-interview. non-trad, 3.6 GPA/ 3.63 sGPA, 33, complete 10/25. 🙁 Hope the interview at Drexel goes well. Still waiting to hear from 15 other schools...
Competitive applicant pooled. Surprised me because my interview went pretty rough.
At the interview they made it sound like a huge portion of their class comes from the pool- after they write a letter of intent (or multiple ones). They made it sound like they want students to grovel at their feet to get in. One of the weirdest admissions procedures I've encountered yet.
I'm not going to play their little game, I'll be withdrawing.
