So sorry to hear that, girl1234. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I'm in your boat too... I should probably just call them and find out but I don't want to hear the news LOL

So, still haven't gotten the letter...but I have a friend who is a student there and who spoke with admissions; confirmed that I've been wait-listed. Super bummer.

Seriously? They told a third party your status?

well, the student/friend is on the admissions committee...so knew monday, but waited until today to let me know.

What the hell, I'd bop my friend *LOL* Does he/she know when letters were sent out, so I know when to expect the dreaded thin envelope?

Also, any idea if it was accept/waitlist, or are rejections on the table too for interviewees? /dread

Ha...I'm not upset with said friend; just the way it goes....and I have no idea re: when letters were sent or whether they send rejections to interviewees. I feel like, according to previous posts/info gleaned during my interview day, they send letters out fairly promptly following decisions...so my notion is that we will be getting them soon. Hope yours turns out positively!

Checked online status today for the first time in a few weeks and ... Rejected. Pre interview. No email, maybe there is a letter out there somewhere.

This one stings. I aced Loyola's post bacc program, got strong letters from 3 profs at loyola (no, i did not see them, but the head of the committee and committee members have been consistently complimentary), I did research volunteer work at their cancer center, good GPA, mcat at their median, decent volunteer experience. Sheesh. I thought we were a good fit. Apparently they didn't.

Oh well. Move on.

gl all.

I'm sorry to hear that 😡
Do you mind me asking when you were complete? I'm still waiting to see if I'm lucky enough to get an interview

I've been at the status of:

Your file is complete and under review by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or email.

since early August, I'm guessing its a good sign but does anyone know when they review old apps like mine? or should I just call next Thursday to see if I've been put on hold?

I would call to see where you are at. Certainly won't hurt you.

Secondaries received and acknowledged late Sept.

Accepted by snail mail! I did not get a call. 3.8/38/OOS. Interviewed on 1/11/11. Sooo excited!!! I love the school!

congrats ipod! ...but damn, i wish i didn't just read that. now it's the agony of hope all over again!

btw, does anyone know how much they factor religion into their decisions? i loved the school and its people so much, but i'm not jesuit... or catholic... or even christian :[ it's not so much that i'd mind learning at a jesuit school (in the sliiightest) as i'm afraid they'll mind i'm not.

First of all how would they know you weren't Christian or anything about your religion in the first place?

Secondly, religion plays little to no role at all in their decision, and most likely none. They are looking for qualified applicants that have the potential to be good doctors and if that happens to be someone not of the Christian faith it wont matter. However, in keeping with Jesuit philosophy of serving others and bettering your community I'm sure they want to see significant community service and care for less fortunate people in society.

Granted I am just going through the app process like you and can't say for sure but I attended a Jesuit undergrad and had classmates of all religions so it doesn't matter that you aren't Christian.

FWIW we have several obviously conservative jewish as well as conservative muslim students in our class. Loyola most definitely does not hold your religious beliefs (or lack thereof) against you. Nor does it force the jesuit religion or even christianity, upon you once you arrive. The most important way that it influences the school is the philosophy that you must treat "the human spirit" and that service is an important part of being a well-rounded individual and physician. That is most definitely what the admissions committee is looking for.

Silent pre-interview rejection... Best of luck to the rest of you!

If you haven't heard from this school there is still hope....I just got an interview invite call the end of last week and they listed a good number of dates in the beginning of March for me to choose from, and it is my understanding the interview into April. Good luck to you all, and if you haven't been rejected via the status page yet I would say there is a good chance you might be getting an interview call sometime in the near future 🙂

Thanks Huskie! Good luck on your interview! :luck:

OMFG I got in!!!!!! So happy!!!!!!! I loved this school 🙂))))

I have to say though -- my god, the psychological games! *LOL* No phone call, no status update, nothing for a week... then today I go to my mailbox and there's a THIN ENVELOPE, and I think it's a WL or rejection... but it was an acceptance! I'm still wondering if I'm hallucinating it *LOL*

Anyway, stats:

OOS, C: mid/late Sept...?, I: 1/15, 3.5cGPA undergrad, 3.4sGPA undergrad, 3.7 graduate GPA (s and c), 41T MCAT

Congrats elementals! Nice to know I don't have to sweat it out for a "fat packet" haha!

Thanks Goober, best of luck to you! :]

Also, thanks for the input re: religion and Loyola! That's really good to know... though obviously now I know religion isn't a factor in their acceptances 😉 I was just a little worried because on interview day it felt like 75% of the people there mentioned their Christian/Catholic/Jesuit backgrounds (I'm sure it wasn't that many but that's how it felt, haha) and I sat there totally silent on that subject... LOL

Wahoo! Huge congrats. I hope you got the same vibe I did when I visited: super happy, good looking, normal students. 😀 Hope to see you here next year! Definitely come to second look. It's a great time.

Is there anyone out there still waiting for an interview? I am just wondering if they are sending out rolling interview invites, or in bulk.

Still waiting as well... Complete in mid/end August I forget exactly... And a whole lot of nothing since then... not even a rejection.. 😕

Does anyone know what the chances are of getting a out right acceptance from an interview in the second week of March?? Or am I just interviewing for a wait-list spot? I hope not because I am really excited about this school!

I interviewed last year on March 31st(ish) and got accepted. They make a point to save spots for the entire interview season (although my guess it there are probably not as many in the later season as in the early season).

Best of luck on your interview, perhaps you will see Bender or I on your tour 🙂

Thank you so much for your optimism...It really is refreshing during this stressful time! 🙂

If u've been rejected officially it will show on the status page. did such show?

Yeah, there's a nice message telling you that your application is closed. I would quote it for you here but I deleted the link from my bookmarks.

Hey guys, I got an interview invite about a week ago after being complete since August. There's still hope for all.

Congrats! Good to see that Loyola is still passing out the invites! Definitely starting to get a little anxious 🙂

Interview invite today.. complete very late (end of December). OOS 3.8/33

Nice! I was complete early december so that still gives me hope, wish I wouldn't have been so damn late! Oh well. Congrats on the invite!

Anyone get calls tonight? Pretty sure Dean Jones said the committee was meeting today...

anybody waiting to hear from the 2/3/11 adcom meeting?

Interviewed between 1/17-1/21 and got the acceptance call from Dr. Muraskas at about 6pm CST!!!!! Ahhhh I am so excited!!!!! This school really has my attention 🙂

I'm happy to hear it, Goober!!! *high five* In all honesty I didn't even know that much about Loyola before going, but after the interview I really fell in love with it 🙂 There's a really big chance I'm going to matriculate here in the fall!

Just wanted to say I've been following the thread and I'm super pumped for the new interviewees and especially excited for the new acceptees! Congratulations! 🙂

If you have any questions whatsoever about Loyola, the interview, or if you're interested on why I chose Loyola out of several different schools, please do not hesitate to shoot me a PM.

Again, congrats!

hey guys,
I really like loyola and after a long season of waiting and interviews it's probably one of the few schools that I am waiting on that could change up my decisions. I looked at my status today (complete since august) and this is what it reads

"status feedback not yet defined!!!!"

exactly like that. I don't know what this means and was wondering if any of you got this message or could give me some insight. Otherwise, I'll wait and call on thursday. Thank you!!!!

I just got an interview invite by phone today and they offered me like 4 days in mid-march so it would seem they still have plenty of interview slots open. I was complete in October, btw. Hang in there if you're still waiting... and for those accepted, congrats. Loyola is a great school!
