Hey crabdoc4, Congrats!!! When did you interview?
I also interviewed on 10/4, did they send you an e-mail first saying that you had been reviewed by the committee, I haven't heard anything from them since the interview, I am hoping they just haven't gotten to my application yet.

MSTP Interview Invite!!! I am super excited!
For those who have visited the school, what is it like? What is rochester like?
Hey I got an MSTP interview here too... I'm trying to decide if the 8+ hour trip is worth it. Does anyone know how the research is there? And how it is living in Rochester?
I actually chuckled to myself when I read this. Are you serious? For a possible future MD/PhD, you sure didn't do your research. Mayo is spectacular for research. I mean, common - go to PubMed or whatever engine you use and look up some researchers from the Mayo Clinic. If you some up with any specific research questions I'll forward them to some of our beloved MD/PhD students, but do a little searching first.
As far as living in Rochester, we are all pretty much deleriously happy. If you are a big city person then you can hit the Twin Cities whenever you want, but we have a lot of fun just staying in town.

For all students who have been accepted (congratulations!), if you use facebook then search for "Mayo Medical School Class of 2015 Accepted Students". I made a group today so you can talk to each other, to current students, etc. This is a good place to ask any questions you have.
Love,
Nerday
Also, for those of you who got accepted and somehow aren't yet convinced that Mayo is the place for you, I would like to preëmpt some questions by saying that although the admissions office does not host a formal revisit weekend, the first-year students will be putting on an "unofficial" revisit for you. Details will be forthcoming as we get closer to next Spring. Join the facebook group if you want the latest details as we work out the plan. Also, we'll be polling the facebook group for input to see what you guys and gals want to get out of the weekend.
Congrats to those who have recently been admitted andto those still waiting!
Accepted 10/18 morning as well =DD Super stoked!!
Nerday, I can't find the facebook group. I only found the 2014 accepted group. Is there another title for the group? (BTW, you hosted me when I interviewed there, thanks so much for all the valuable info! Can't wait for "second-look" weekend!)

same boatSo I am guessing if we have not received an interview invite we are in trouble? my understanding was that Mayo moved quickly through applications to give interview invites.
3.82 OOS 30P Good and unique EC's (Lots of diversity/service and research)
I had LOR's requested 9/1 received 9/10 and just waiting since then. Maybe I should give them a call? Send an update letter?

Not gunna lie, you Mayo folks got me pretty excited about coming up there this weekend. I mean I already was excited, but you guys have taken it up a notch.
Anyone else gunna be there for a Monday interview?
I'd watch the "gunna" talk. We don't take to kindly to those types 'round here. 😉
And to Nerday: I'm not surprised you have hosted two of the acceptees...I mean you have hosted something like 90+ % of the applicants, right? 😀
Oh, and CONGRATS to those getting the call this week!
Nerday and I were two of those who organized last year's unofficial second look, and if you need (or just want) to see more of Mayo before you get up here plan on being there! It is a GREAT experience.
everyone!
So 15 students accepted thus far--about 35 seats left. I really hope I get in, I loved what I saw of Mayo.

Now don't be harsh on those of us of diminutive stature. Check out Lynn Hill, first to free climb El Capitan (see pic on avatar)! We should all be so bold.
im pretty sure they accept 70-75 outright and then compile a waiting wist after that. Also, I was under the impression that they accept 7-8 every round of admission offers ... how did you hear that they accepted 15?
The Republic of Texas doesn't apologize for the speaking of Texan.
So, at Mayo, you have gunner's but no gunna's?
And if you and Nerday do the presentation will it be short and loud?

May I ask how you know 15 offers went out?
Comes directly from Marcy.
As for the fifty seats, during my interview, when Marcy explained the process of what happens after the interview, she said that initially fifty people are granted acceptances. Then, as people decline offers, more seats are given one by one. By the end, around 70 to 75 people have been granted spots in the incoming class. However, only fifty seats are guaranteed--the others depend on whether those who have been given a seat accept or decline. If everyone accepts, then no more spots will be available.
That's all I know, so feel free to fill in.
Thanks, that certainly clears things up. Do you know when the next offers will come and how many there will be?
so i guess mayo is still giving out interviews? I received a LOR request 8/30 as well, but have yet to hear anything else since they received them.
