well alleluia, finally complete.

AMCAS verified 7/12
NYMC secondary invite 7/27
NYMC secondary submitted with letters 8/5
NYMC secondary complete 9/08

Got an interview invite - I'm so excited, I love this school!!!

Does anyone know approximately what % of interviewees end up getting accepted? :luck:

Goodluck all!

According to MSAR, they interview ~1400 for a class of ~190. I'm guessing they accept around ~400, so less than 1/3 chance about.

From Eduers (2007): 8319 applied, 1349 interviewed, 669 were accepted, 195 enrolled

It seems like a high number of people are getting accepted, but if its true that means if you interview you have a 50% chance of getting accepted.

damn didn't realize what a low yield NYMC had for accepted students choosing the school

Generally how long does it take for NYMC to send out the secondary after submission to AMCAS? I added NYMC yesterday early afternoon.

Congrats on all the interview invites! Looks like they review and give out invites quite often. I was not complete until 9/1 so it will probably be a while before I hear back, but thats okay. Seems like its approx a month before you get news now.

Anyone else interviewing 10/18?

For everyone interviewing, are you staying with a student host?

just got an email from NYMC asking to send an unofficial and official copy of fall 2010 semester grades. Does this mean they are waiting until then to decide if I am going to get an interview or not? Thats what I interpreted it as 🙁 Anyone else had this message?

How did people list course names and numbers for LORs from professors you took more than one course from? Did people list multiple courses? Or just pick one?

Does anyone know if the secondary required us to enter our prerequisite courses??

does anyone know when the first day of interviews start?

can anyone who had this same issue answer how they approached this? thanks.

I didn't have this issue, but if you can't fit both class names, just put the one that sounds more important. It probably doesn't matter anyways since your prof. will talk about all the classes they taught you anyways.

I didn't even follow their instructions of listing out the individual writers for a letter packet (found out after I submitted) and I still got an interview invite last week. They can figure it out, so I wouldnt worry too much.

I was complete 09/08, despite having everything in about 3 weeks before that. Hm... so that will be at least 10/08 until I hear back?

I submitted my secondary around 8/30. When I go to the status page, the space beneath the "letters received" entry reads "In order to view your received evaluations your secondary application must first be processed by the Admissions Office". Is something wrong here, or are they just inordinately slow updating apps? Thanks all

I submitted mine on 8/20ish and still have that as well. All it means is they haven't processed your letters yet. From the staff and this forum it seems that this can take a long time (4-6 weeks). Some have had success calling but I'm going to wait until like week 5 before I get that worried.

So I am working through my secondary and I came across a problem with the letters. They want 2 letters from 'science' faculty and 1 letter from 'non-science'. One of my science letters is from my Molecular Cell Biology professor, which is fine. The other science letter I put down was from my Social Psychology professor. I'm wondering if this is ok? Most psychology classes (like social psychology) are experimental science classes just like the rest of the sciences (biology, chemistry, physics).

Hmmm...I believe according to AMCAS guidelines, psych courses do not count as science courses. You might want to check with the guidelines again to make sure.

I know Social Psychology was counted as a Behavioral Science on my application. I'm wondering if this would be a big deal to NYMC if I already had 1 letter from a biology professor.

I think they are being really hard on this. My friend submitted 1 bio, 1 math, 1 non-science (english) and she got an e-mail saying that she didn't meet the letter requirements because math wasn't a "science". I would call them because if you really like this school you might need to get another letter asap.

Interview invite!!! My first one and I am so pumped. Complete on 8/17, 31R, cGPA 3.69, IS. I have yet to schedule my interview, but I will post when I do.

I was complete on 8/19 so two days after you so I am really hoping for an interview there, I love this school.

has anyone received a conformation email after scheduling their interview? how long did it take to receive the email?

Hit me up if you are heading up to NYMC on Monday October 25th for an interview October 26th and want to split a cab

Interview invite this morning, complete 8/24 (actually submitted a few weeks before that but letters took forever to be marked off), OOS.

Reporting from first day of interviews: I really liked this school a lot. Its pleasant and great there. All 15 of us- the first batch- had really chill interviews. The Dean is very nice and they explain that if you are there numbers are no longer the issue, just they want to see your personality. My interviewer was very easy going and simply had a genuine interest in me which made most things I wanted to say easier to remember. Good luck all1

Very nice! I'm glad they let you interview there three times!

😛

I'm interviewing on Wednesday - I can't wait.

Hi everyone! I'm interviewing at NYMC on October 4th and was wondering if anyone would like to share a taxi/car for going to Laguardia airport after the interview. Message me if you're interested. Good luck to all!
