Is anyone else stupidly excited for this interview? Mine is months away but I can't wait.
 
I knew we wouldn't find out about acceptances last night, but I stayed up anyway. Also, Mad Men came on at 1:15 AM
 
Here's to hoping for a phone call... if my terrible phone doesn't run out of batteries.

I've also been checking email and medSTAR status pretty frequently even though I knew it wouldn't be there. I'm pretty excited / nervous.
 
Okay so, what we know so far is this:

We may or may not get a call today, but the online status WILL change at midnight tonight.

Right?

I don't think the online status change is a guarantee. Everybody has given mixed answers: anything from a call after midnight, a status change at 3 or 6 am, or even finding out next Monday.
 
Has anyone else heard that the AAMC emailed schools and requested that acceptances not be sent out till the 18th? I can't imagine why the AAMC would do this but then again I don't see the purpose for there being any date limit on notification of acceptances anyway. Some brave soul should call admissions and see if we are still getting the phone call tonight at midnight. Not it!
 
At my interview, we were told that they were releasing acceptances on Monday. I think they even gave it a name like "Mega Monday" or something. I have no idea if this is per AAMC. Also, I don't know if that applies to the phone call and the computer updates- the computer updates might happen first, but who knows.

When did you interview? It seems like when decisions are released may depend on when you interviewed.
 
So you guys may not believe me on this one...but I just ran into Dr. Capers in Meiling (I work at the med center) and he told me he will start calling tonight @ 12:01. I guess because of legal stuff they can't let us know Oct 15th or earlier. He also said status updates will be monday morning. So I just picked up a cup of coffee and I'm ready for the wait! Go Bucks!

Oh geez...sleep will be impossible tonight! Do you know if he'll keep calling through the weekend and try to get everyone who is accepted so far? This weekend is going to either suck or be amazing.

I interviewed on the 11th. I think everyone prior to today might find out all at the same time since the committee meets immediately post-interviews. I'm not 100% sure- just my guess.

That's great. I'm with you on the coffee. This is going to be a weekend filled with long nights. Hopefully we receive some good news tonight and tomorrow night (bucks win).
 
Never mind, just saw the above post. Crap, I'll be at work if he calls then.

darn you just ruined it for everyone! the best is doing whatever like out in a bar or something and he calls and you are like who is this and finds out you are accepted in a not so sober manner (no personal experience, but heard of classmates doing this)! but now all of you are anxiously waiting tonight haha. Good luck!!! sorry if this post doesnt make sense, just took anatomy test on 2 hours of sleep....😴
 
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH Waiting for the call is going to be SOO nerve-racking, wondering if we're not accepted or he just hasn't gotten to us on the call list yet.

I still hope the website status can be up by tomorrow morning, they did tell some people that at some interview days...:luck:

They did mention both saturday updates and midnight calls when I talked to admissions on the phone, but it sounds like updates may not happen until Monday. We'll see!

So more than one thread is starting to say that AAMC changed the date to the 18th for some reason - yet other schools (like Umich and Temple) have already announced. Does anyone have a source for this 18th rumor? I tried surfing around the AAMC site and couldn't find it, but it isn't the most user-friendly system around - it has all the information except what I happen to be looking for.

Also, just curious, does anyone know why AAMC makes schools wait for an arbitrary date to announce? It seems to me it is counterproductive to do so, as allowing schools to announce earlier would have some students dropping out of the system earlier as they are accepted into their #1 choice earlier...
 
I don't think the 18th is an official date. Since today is a Friday, schools can either release on the weekend or wait until the next Monday (the 18th). It just depends which the school prefers. As for schools that have already released, they just chose not to follow the guideline.

One of the schools actually sent me an email stating that their decision announcement date was pushed back to the 18th. I am not sure however why other schools already released their decisions. I was under the impression that the rule applies to all schools.
 
I think the worst part about the waiting is that Dr. Capers is only going to call those who were accepted. So lack of phone call means perhaps

1) no calls yet for anyone 😀
2) maybe the call will really be on the 18th, or 😳
3) the doomsday scenario of which I do not wish to think... :scared:

I am hereby starting a new rumor which shall have a long and fruitful life: status updates are actually at 2 am to allow for the calls on those who are accepted. Rest of us are outta luck...

is he calling by interview date? can you guys post when your iview was?

really, i just wanna know personally if there has been a call for a post-oct. 6 interviewee

Almost had a heart attack when I saw "Blocked" on the caller ID 😀

I'm in California and I got one of the earliest calls, so it might be by interview date. Mine was on Sept. 15th.

I interviewed on the 8th and just barely got my call so I don't know if it is by interview date. It's tough to guess as this whole process seems kinda random at times haha.

Yeah that could be. My last name starts win an R. I really can't think of any other sort of pattern that they would follow.

How about this: they have a stack of files on the desk during admissions meetings, some take longer to reach a decision than others, but eventually they get sorted. The accepted files get placed together. This repeats every interview week. Then, tonight, Dr. Capers grabs the stack and starts calling.

Kind of like shuffling a deck of cards. Used to be in sensible order, not so much now.

At least, that's what I hope as my interview date and geographic area and letter of my last name have all been passed...
 
Never got a call... guess I didn't get accepted. Interviewed in oct

My call was at 2:00 in the morning central time. I really appreciate how OSU doesn't make us wait. Congratulations to everyone who is accepted! Hope to see you at the second visit.
 
Accepted last night! Call was at 1 am mountain time. Dr. Capers still sounded fully awake even though it was 3 am eastern. Talk about dedication.
 
Congrats to all of those who were accepted- seems like a great school! You can really tell that the staff actually cares about the students there. No call for me, but hoping he hasn't finished them all yet (fingers crossed). I guess we'll find out soon enough.
 
No call yet for me. I'm assuming the worst, but still have my fingers crossed. It doesn't look like they were calling in order of interview date, since people who interviewed on first day were called near 3 am. I'm hoping they haven't gotten through the whole stack just yet.
