I posted this on the South board as well, but I want to pose my questions here too.

I have a former classmate who said that she held an acceptance to UAB, South, and a third school deep into the summer last year because of indecision, and she said she got calls from the schools urging her to make her decision.

Has anyone else heard this? It is obviously something that frustrates schools, but does anyone know of schools that have been so frustrated that they withdrew the acceptance? My friend seems to think that she would have been in jeopardy if she had waited any longer.

She has been pretty reliable in the past when she has talked about the admissions process and the reason I even asked her is because I remember her squatting on acceptances. Hopefully, for our sakes, the schools will start calling soon if this is true. Might help us learn a little sooner so we can start making plans and stop the endless limbo and hourly phone checks.

At least we know for sure they are in the middle tier. Here is hoping for a little bit more movement. The UASOM Class of 2015 is only at 119 members, which is not the best indicator but at least it isn't in the 170s.

Does anyone know how good an indicator the UASOM Class Facebook group was at this time last year?

Also, is it up to you to ask to join or are you invited upon acceptance?

you have to ask to join the facebook page
They do not ask if you are already accepted or not
Several members of the facebook page are MS2,3, or 4's that are advertising books for sale and condos/houses for rent
I also know of 4 accepted people that are not currently on the facebook page

I have. It showed up on my blazernet account the day after I created by blazerid/email. But I did my fafsa back in March so that may be why I got it so fast.

And even knowing how much med school was going to be...it was still a shock to see the amount i accepted!

I was slow on withdrawing from south because I was waiting for my official uab letter to get to me. Uab certainly sent me a stern email telling me I needed to withdraw from one.

I wouldn't play chicken by holding multiple acceptances.

I think the addition has to do with feedback. It says that people rejected or people on the lower third can get feedback, as if we didn't already know we had no shot.

transcript, does your secondary application status say all needed items are complete? For mine it says they have received my transcript with degree posted, but it has a "no" next to required coursework complete. I didn't know if everyone's said this or if this is some error on mine.

bulldog - I had that issue, but I sent an email where I mentioned the problem and listed each class and the semester I took it. I got a thank you email that day and the website updated a few days later.

I sent mine in and scheduled a fingerprinting, but i never heard anything back (no confirmation), if you find out how to confirm let me know

I'm pretty sure UAB has already handed out the majority of theirs because they said they were out of funds when I talked to the scholarship lady. The only ones left are those that go to specific people (ie. if you live in a specific area, or your parents work for a specific company). All the general school ones are gone.

Sure, I had very mediocre stats: 3.51/3.41 BCMP, 30. I had some great ECs and a lot to talk about, though, which I think helped me slightly.
