Haha, I will absolutely miss the hot dogs and pizza, but it just shouldn't be snowing on April 18th. Chicago during the summer is incredible. It's just too bad that summer is so short. 4 years here is enough...I'm ready to come home!
 
looks like theres high chance uab will move through the upper tier again like last year. From what I gathered in preparation for my application this upcoming cycle, upper tier- acceptance, middle- acceptance for at least 40% of ppl, and lower tier- assume rejection.

Hey just found this site and this is my first time to post. I'm on the upper third and still waiting. Still not sure what I'll do when/if I'm accepted to UAB, as I already have a good scholarship offer from South.... I'll be sure to let everyone know if I drop off the wait list in the meantime or hear something.

yeah, and i didn't go to uab, so def not me. I am in at South, but will probably accept UAB. Not sure yet though...I'll keep yall posted!
 
I thought for sure we would see some movement today from withdraws over the weekend after the scholarship deadline.

I know for a fact I have worn out my refresh button. Probably doesn't help that my I have to sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day at work. This is BRUTAL. :scared:

I pretty much have this page and the page for the facebook group open at all times (in order to judge the potential for Non SDNers coming off the waitlist).

It's pretty miserable. I don't think any of you guys will have to go through it though. I know the wait is tough, but you guys should feel extremely confident in your chances being on the 1st tier.

Haha, I have started a whole new level of stalking. If they are, I suppose that's a good thing, but I am surprised more SDN'ers haven't been admitted seeing as how there are more people who have come on here and said they are on the upper tier than last year. The only way this makes sense without SDN'ers just being unlucky is if the waitlist has been expanded. As I've said before, however, I don't think UAB would make the waitlist bigger if they didn't expect more movement.
 
Is the list bigger? Is it moving more slowly? - or hopefully, is there just some slight hitch before it starts flying.

Another thing that is bothering me, were there any "waitlist-day" rejections this year? Last year there was a cluster of rejections just before the waitlist was released. Did everyone just transfer onto the list this year?

If a few people get in today or tomorrow, it will still feel right.

If not, we may have to reassess.

I'm surprised as well considering how many upper tier people are on our list. I'm crossing my fingers for this Friday to be a big day for movement :xf:I honestly feel like this wait was easier before the waitlist was out.

Personally I don't think the facebook group thing is reliable. It could be people who forgot to join or who joined now that financial aid is out, not necessarily waitlisters. My friend who got in off the waitlist didn't join for a few days. Plus, there are several people in that group from other classes.

Not trying to be a downer, just think it may not be the best tool for trying to watch non-SDN waitlist movement.

Actually if you look at last year, we are at the exact same point if you look at equivalent dates. Last year at this time, 5 people that SDN knew of were in (3 SDNers, and 2 friends). The only difference is that there is 2 SDNers and 3 friends of SDNers this year, but that could just be a reflection of who has joined SDN this year. If there are 3 acceptances by this friday of SDNers or people we know, then the list is on the exact track of last year (as far as it is possible for us to tell).

There was some mention of some OOS people receiving rejections shortly before the alternate list was released. It was a wave a few days prior.

Do you think UAB will send out acceptances this Friday considering it's Good Friday? I know it's not an official UAB holiday, but I'm sure a good number of people are taking it off.
 
Let's hope they go ahead and send them out tomorrow and thursday so that we can relax and enjoy Easter weekend
 
Are there any accepted students waiting on Campus assignments? If not, how long did it take from your acceptance to getting the assignment?

For those already accecpted to UAB or on the first tier (and will probably be accecpted soon) also in at South and planning to withdraw their accecptance there?

Juuuuust wondering.

That last couple years it has been around 30-34 per tier. If we have 13 still waiting on SDN,two SDNers have already been admitted (RTR and virginiagirl), and 6 have been admitted total, then this same waitlist size is not out of the realm of possibility.

I'm leaning towards UAB at the moment. I promise to be quick with my decision (if I have to make one).
 
I would like to see two or three more get in this week just to set my mind at ease. I, like many of you, find it hard to believe that they won't make it through the first tier, but I can't help but be anxious to the point that I can't really focus on anythingelse. :scared:

Hey everyone, I am a second (about to be third) year med student at UAB. I just happened to run across this website today. When I was going through my waiting process two years ago, I was in the EXACT same boat. I had my interview in November, then I checked my email and sdn daily for about half a year until I finally got my "wait listed" email in March... I remember how horrible the wait was. I was in the middle tier and I FINALLY got accepted on May 15 (I think)- so that was a total of 6 month wait. I think that's the day when everyone makes a final decision or something, can't remember, but there should be a lot of movement soon- there has always been, at least for UAB. I think all the upper and middle tier were accepted in my year, and possibly few lower tier. Just be patient! yea, the wait is horrible, but it only made being accepted that much better!! It's so worth it at the end. Good luck to you all.

I got in the 3rd week of March and I still don't have a campus assignment. And one of my friends mentioned that it took about 3 months for her to get one.
 
looks like today was pretty weak, hopefully this friday will be like last friday
 
Any news today? for some reason when there are new posts to read, I feel better about waiting. When there are not any new posts, I feel out of the loop. I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys celebrating Earth day and Easter.
