lots of good info, thank you.

i interviewed last year in october also, and was rejected in march. i got the impression that applicants were either accepted within one or two months of their interview, or got some bad news on march 31st.

but it's also a new admissions group this year, so maybe they are doing things differently.

interviewed yesterday and today online status updated to "Thank you for interviewing. Applicants will be notified no later than March 31." did everyone else get this?

Me too. I really enjoyed the entire day. I am even more passionate about this school after yesterday and the waiting process is going to be so incredibly painful.

I saw earlier in the thread people posting with interview dates of Nov 20. That is a Saturday, does that strike anyone else as odd? Is that right?

Hey, has anyone heard anything for the MSTP program? I was complete pretty late but I am really excited about this school and any insight would really be appreciated!

🙂

I hadn't heard of anyone having Saturday interviews before but I know it's accurate. I spoke with Willa in admissions yesterday and she said applications had increased 16-17% from last year. She also mentioned they would have 60 interviews on Saturday so it's a pretty large group.

This process will definitely teach me a TON about patience.

I didn't know they had such an increase in applicants this year. I wonder if the increase is equal among IS and OOS. I did notice that the interview size this week was much higher than the 25-30 I anticipated.

Well given they are interviewing this weekend, I am assuming it won't be until next week until interviewees from the 15th and 20th find out anything...

It doesn't look like they're accepting every other week, and the website says "monthly" until early March. So maybe it's going to be the first of each month or every approximately 4 weeks, but yeah, it's definitely stressful to have to wait. I'm hopeful they may send acceptances more often but I wouldn't anticipate it.

I think med school apps are up across the board, given the economy and people losing their jobs, so I would guess it's a pretty equal amount between OOS and IS but that's just me speculating.

When I was interviewing at Colorado, I was told that there was an increase in applicants BUT that Colorado was only going to interview approximately 650 applicants this year, which is about the same number as last year. So I am not sure that the increase in applicants has any effect after the interview stage.

i'm in the same boat. Haven't heard anything, complete late october. :luck::xf:

So nothing today, I figured with the 2 interview dates last week, today might be a big day...

They were having an applicant evaluation meeting last Monday. I don't know if that was for that days interviewees or not, although I believe I recall my interviewer saying "time to go talk about you guys, later!" or something to that affect

I remember that. The dean of admissions, Dr. Winn, said that...

Every interview day they meet immediately after the interview sessions and discuss/rate the days interviewees. Your fate is decided as you feat on Jimmy John's with the MS1's.

ACCEPTED!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!! I can finally relax for awhile 🙂. If people are curious, like I've said a thousand times already, I interviewed 9/24. So not hearing right away isn't a big deal. Good luck everyone! Got the email at 8:38.

Congrats!

I wonder why the "long wait".. this process mang.. never know what's happening! =P

ACCEPTED!!!!! AHHHHH I LOVE COLORADO!!!!!

Interviewed 11/15! OOS!

Ahh congrats to everyone who got accepted today!! And for those that didn't.. keep the hope alive! Still have a few months left 🙂

Congratulations to all of those accepted today! Bring on the next round, please! :xf:

Just called the SOM. I asked if any changes in the admissions process were made since the new Dean has come on board and was told that changes to the committees were made resulting in more people viewing application files then before. I also was told that the school does not accept updates and that the first mass rejections will go out in January. Good luck everyone!

For interviewees or pre-interview?

For interviewees or pre-interview?

This statement strikes me as odd since the first set of rejections went out back in October the week after their first set of acceptances unless those were pre-interview rejections, although what I got from the advising email Ms. Patel (Director, CU Med Admissions) sent out was that the Oct. rejections were interviewed students (i.e., those who were not chosen for the previous week's acceptances or for waitlist purposes). I'd have to ask her, however.

Hi everyone, I don't intend to mislead anyone about the mass rejects occuring soon. When I try to recall the conversation, it was never specifically said whether the rejections were pre- or post- interviews; however, since I called on my own behalf, I believe that the mass rejections in January will be pre-interview.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering. If rejections have been given out monthly, then "the first mass rejection" seems like it could include pre-interview as well.

Congrats on your interview invite! Can you share your info as well? Thanks.

Awesome Phospho!

You gave me some hope. I've got similar stats, but I submitted a few weeks after you. Kill that interview!

Sure. Completed 10/19, cGPA 3.65, sGPA3.56, 32 MCAT.
Congrats, phospho, and thanks for sharing! Though now I feel even more worried since my stats are very similar, I completed 9/16, IS. I am not liking the idea of the mass rejections in January posted above. Good luck to everyone!

Thank you! There's always hope 😉 Good luck everyone and congrats to those who got in already!

Dear CU:

I would love some news from you. I worked for you over the summer and fell in love. I hope you reciprocate the feeling and grant me the chance to show you why I'll be a great part of your life.

Any day now, that would be good!
Kthnxbye

For those who have received an interview invitation -

After confirming your interview date online, how long did it take for you to receive a follow-up e-mail about the day (times, location, student host info, etc)? I confirmed the date last week and want to make plane flights and beg a medical student to take me in for the night...

I was IS, so I didn't worry about the host thing. But for me, there was no confirmation email after I confirmed the date.

But they did send a reminder like a week before. If you log in, and it says a certain day, you should be golden.

Though, did you request a different one they sent you? I just accepted and confirmed the one they sent. That may also make a difference.

Has anyone who interviewed on 11/29 heard anything yet?? They said they would send out the next round of acceptances after two weeks. I'm so anxious!:xf:

C'mon CU! Come through for me, I'm a sure thing!

Does anyone have any idea how many acceptances have gone out so far?

I know that they sent out a round of acceptances the week of Thanksgiving, so maybe that's true of Christmas week as well!

Good luck everyone!

(IS, 36/4.0, interviewed October 4th...but still haven't heard 🙁)

I also haven't heard anything, but I haven't been waiting as long as you. Definitely unsettling, as I really loved the school =\. (Nov 15, IS, 3.9/39)

I also would love to hear, though I've only been waiting since November. I'm OOS so I really have to hope hard.

Anyway, my bet is on tomorrow. I'm developing a conspiracy theory about the CU ad com and Tuesdays. I got my II on a Tuesday and the last acceptances posted on SDN have been on 10/19 (a Tuesday) and 11/23 (also a Tuesday). Though I was skimming very lightly and could have missed some. In my conspiracy that leaves tomorrow, the 21st, and the 28th, though I doubt most admissions committees work much between Christmas and New Years (I know I wouldn't 🙂 ). Here's hoping! Good luck everyone!:xf:

This is a very convincing theory, but I haven't heard anything yet, at least. Usually the emails seem to go out by now =\
