maybe they already accepted people, just no one on sdn, or if they are, they dont feel like sharing. they wont change your status otherwise, so theres no way to tell
 
seems super unlikely to me that noone on SDN would have been accepted or that they wouldnt have posted given the number of people who monitor this forum. If you are out there, however, please put us out of our misery!
 
I interviewd on Oct. 4th and still haven't even received the status that my file has been presented to the adcom...I called on Friday, and they said that my interview day had been presented so maybe they're having trouble with the system b/c I know of another person that interviewed in late Sept who still just has the interview survey status page
 
Gah! I noticed this thread getting some traffic, so I thought "Oh man! I bet decisions are posted." My heart was racing when I logged in and... nothing. Then I got on here and felt slightly better that no one has heard yet. I'm tired of waiting, I want to know now! :scared:.
 
Hey everyone!!!

Just wanted to slightly ease everyone's nerves by telling you that I personally know the Associate Dean and Director of Admissions at VCU, and I ran into the two of them this evening and was told that due to the very large pool of applicants who would be receiving notifications tonight, the server is having trouble sending out all the e-mails. I'm sorry that you're going to endure more waiting, but I just wanted to tell you all so that if you haven't yet received an update, don't think automatically that you're not accepted for this period. I hope this calms you down at least somewhat 🙂

Maybe they are connected, but wouldn't the VCU status page update regardless of a server email?
 
I don't think so; I'm pretty positive that the two update at the same time. So if your actual VCU App status hasn't changed, I wouldn't say that necessarily means anything.
 
so the question remains....has anyone actually heard anything??
 
I've been personally told by the Director of Admissions that I've been accepted for the Class of 2015, but I haven't received any e-mail notification yet. As soon as I get anything, I will let you all know.

Impressive. When did u interview?
 
VCU had a problem with their servers on friday, it was sent out as a alert to VCU students, so it will probably take a few days to get everything running and ok. Lets hope they will fix it soon!
 
The first week of interviews; so that was the last week of September/first week of October.
 
uhhh there were definitely interviews in early/mid september... (I have friends who went on them!)
 
I interviewed September 2nd, that was the first week I believe.
 
Oh really? Because I thought so too and asked an admissions officer, and she told me that I was in the first week of interviews. In any case, I interviewed at the start of October.
 
Mine was on September 7th, still have not heard anything back... This waiting is making me sick... Exam tomorrow, but I cannot even concentrate...Booo
 
As of 8am, still no word. Anybody get any good news overnight?

Same. Woke up at 5am, hoping desperately for an e-mail, a forum post, a status update...anything, but alas, nothing.

I have class in Sanger Hall this morning...I've debated dropping by and asking what the dealio is, but I also don't want to ruin my own surprise.
 
Nothing here, I interviewed September 29 and am still on the "interview status" page, I guess Im not the only one in this boat but I wish they would update! I reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly want to know!

Admissions office said they weren't aware of any problems w/ the notifications going out. Maybe they went out and no one here was accepted?

but this seems highly unlikely judging by how many people got in during the first round last year
 
I hesitate to post this, but I just called admissions and they said the first round has, in fact, gone out. I find it really hard to believe that no one on here has heard anything though, whether it be personally, or through someone else. If anyone is able to visit the admissions office in person today, please pay them a visit and let us know what you find out. Also, my conversation was admittedly hurried, so if anyone else wants to call and ask specifics (ie: when notifications were sent) that would be great. The number is (804) 828 9629.
 
Im not buying it, there are obviously issues with the notifications going out on the 15th - whether they are intentional or not, VCU should own up to it - this seems very atypical compared to previous years
 
Musiclover1008, have you received anything via e-mail yet? Since you have confirmation of your acceptance in the first round already, it seems you are the best positioned to confirm the reality of this whole e-mail debacle.

really? no-one got in? how small was the first round of acceptances? this is really bad/weird news....
 
Alright, frienditos, I'm going to head into town and stop by the admissions office before class. I'll try to post here between then and when class starts at 10 to let you guys know if there's any new news.

i wonder if first round of acceptaces the mean the early decision candidates? as it seems highly unlikely no one on sdn would get in

i believe they had an issue similar to this last year, but sent the notifications the next day at six ... i think today at 6 if everythimg is fixed it will be sent

I think they would have specified that at the interview if that was the case. The dean told us that 50-70 people would get accepted the first round, probability-wise that has got to be at least one person on sdn

no no, sorry i should have been clearer in my post. if someone were to ask did the first round go out to the adcom ... they probably said yes, that the first round of acceptances did, meaning the october 1st date which the early decision candidates get notified.

now this is just a theory but maybe in their terminology oct 16 date is the second round of acceptances?

i dont know just speculating. im with you though, its highly unlikely that no one got in off of sdn ... and this has happened in previous years where vcu took an extra day to send out the notifications, but i am unaware of the reasoning behind it
 
FWIW,

I just got off the phone with the admissions office and was told that the system did NOT update last night. They are not sure why this happened and their IT guy is working on it. She said to obsessively check your email while holding your breath because when the problem is fixed the notifications should go out immediately rather than at the usual 6pm EST.

what?! why are they telling some people that it did update. i feel like some jokers in the admissions office are having a really good laugh at our expense
 
Good to know everyone is on the same page over there... Well at least there's still hope.

I still have not received any notification or change in my app status, sorry! As soon as I hear anything, I will be sure to post, but I'm sure any of you who hear back will do the same 🙂
 
Hey guys -

as promised, I stopped by admissions. The young lady to whom I spoke said that "offers were made" last night but that there was a glitch in distributing them. I don't know how to interpret that, but I hope it means that your website status wouldn't have been updated due to the IT glitch.

She said, however, that she was not sure if we would get an e-mail right away or if we would all be on the edge of our seat until 6pm.

Also, they have a full day of interviews today and admissions activities, so I'm sure that they would appreciate it if we could limit our calls and visits (though they were really nice to me).

Oh boy - that sure is good news... Thank you for stopping by the office - I don't know what kind of mess we'd all be in right now considering how many different things we have been told over the past 36 hours.
