What are the timestamps on the e-mails? Did they all come out at the same time or are they staggered?

I only got the status update that my file was reviewed. Long wait until December 👎
 
I interviewed 10/06...My original thought was that I wast going to hear until December 15. I got the e-mail and they told me my application has been put on hold. The e-mail said I wouldn't hear from them again until the other decision dates with one of three possible decisions...I was either accepted, rejected or put on an alternate list. I'm confused because I would think Ive been put on an alternate list with the hold status. Can anyone shed some light on this??

it means they couldnt come to a decision so they will look at you later and decide then

I interviewed 9/29 and just got the hold email at the same time everyone got the acceptance email, so I guess Im on hold until December ???????? 👎
 
I received the e-mail notification of my acceptance!

I interviewed 9/30 and still have the interview survey status. Does this mean I can still be rejected before December?
 
Congrats to everyone who's accepted!

No status change for me, and my page is still on the Interview Survey. I wish they'd at least update it so I could see whether my file even got reviewed. :annoyed:. Alas. Hoping to hear good news come December!
 
Did anyone who interviewed on or after Oct. 5th get accepted? Trying to figure out if we made the cutoff. Thanks!
 
Maybe the hold e-mail means that our interview day didn't make the october16th release cutoff. Anyone who interviewed on October 5th or 6th receive an acceptance?

I just called the admissions office and was told that my file had not yet gone before the committee so I should expect to wait till the December date. My interview was on October 7.
 
I interviewed October 6th...Here is the status e-mail I got today.

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in late-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school.

Can anyone who knows for sure clarify what this means...it sounds like a wait list.
 
Interviewed September 24th, still have not heard anything....

I interview at the second week of september, and i just got the email stating my status change (about 12:12 pm) - so once they've fixed the technical issues for everyone, you guys should also start hearing soon!

I got the "MAY" status just today. what is the roughly the chance of me getting interviews later on?
do they sent out interview invites next year spring as well?
or is it just this year?

How many more invites do you think they will send out roughly?

got an interview about 2 weeks after the may status. they offer invites i think every beginning of the month or so. you might be getting yours in november or december. I think invites are sent till february
 
So I was looking in the 2009-2010 VCU thread. Apparently Everyone gets the hold message. However, if you don't get an additional status update by the end of today, then your app goes into the dec. 15 pool. The good news is that if you got a hold status, your file wasn't rejected immediately post-interview which happens here.
 
Anything we can do to increase our chances for December?

ive been a may for about a month and a half now
 
For those who were accepted, are you IS or OS? I think the competition for OS is a bit harder.

I've had the may status since 9/22; if they email invites at the beginning of each month, then I'm hoping to hear something beginning of November. It seems like an invitation 3-4 weeks post-may/further status is typical.
 
I know there's been pages and pages of discussion on what these status updates mean. But if someone doesn't mind repeating what's been said a million times already, what does this status mean again?

The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview you will be notified by e-mail in March.

You got the "May" status. This is the status I had about two weeks (?) or so before getting an interview invite. You're not at the top of their list (the "very interested" status), but you've got a good shot at getting an interview. Hope this helps. Good luck!
 
Did anyone with acceptances get interviewed end of September/early October? I'm wondering whether my date made it to the cutoff. I interviewed October 4th
 
O man! got put on hold! :-(
I hope they re-review my file in december. I wanted this war(yes i call getting into med school a war) to finally be over!
looks like im in it for the longhaul!

I interviewed Oct. 4th and was accepted yesterday...I had called last Friday and was told that the Oct 4th group had been presented...I'm also IS as well

Congrats!!! Bummer...did you get two status updates yesterday? Or did you get one earlier than that? I only got the one that my file was reviewed. I'm OOS, so I guess it makes a difference?

Actually I had the interview survey status all the way up until yesterday at ~11am when i received a status change notification email with the acceptance....so I didn't even get the status about my file being presented to the adcom
 
are any of you who have been accepted md-phd? i'm waitlisted for md-phd and want to know if they accepted anyone, or put all of us on the waitlist. i was in the first group of interviewees in september.
 
Just withdrew my application. Was going to interview next Wednesday 10/27. Hope that opened an interview slot for someone. Good luck to everyone!
 
Got a status update tonight and logged in expecting to see that they reviewed my application and.... rejected. Very disappointing. I thought my interview went well, but who knows what they were actually looking for. Anyway, good luck to the rest of you guys!

Sorry to hear that...I thought my interview went well too, and now I'm on hold. Good luck with the rest of the process though. I keep on telling myself that if it's meant to be it'll happen, but still, it sucks a lot sometimes.
 
someone tell them to update my MAY status to INTERVIEW status! I'm excited about this school.
 
So I have gotten 2 emails saying my status has changed but when i log in there is no change.. it says my file is still complete and its been that way for 2 months.. anyone know what's going on?
 
i got a status change message and it was for documentation i sent in and all it had was like "**" next to the instruction on sending in documentation. not a big change but still a change. i thought it might have been a rejection or ii
 
I just submitted my secondary last week, not overly competitive scores. Will the delay really hurt my chances?

MCAT 32; GPA: 3.6
 
Is that parking area north of Broad street and east of Oliver Hill way free? There is a huge lot there according to Google Maps, and its half a mile from campus.
 
If you park in the main hospital parking lot (there are actually two of them side-by-side) you can get your ticket validated during the interview day. The walk to Sanger Hall (admissions office inside) from the garage is 5 minutes or so. I think with a validated ticket you can park for like $2. I go here for undergrad and that's what I did for parking.
 
According to the interview packet thing:

Parking: We have an agreement with the Patient & Visitor parking office for our
potential future physicians. It is the MCV Hospital policy to guarantee space for all
Medical School applicants. The Patient & Visitor Parking Deck is located at 12th and
Clay Streets.

Directions: Continuing north on 11th Street (in front of Sanger Hall) go two blocks
to Clay Street, make right go one block (east) on Clay Street, make a left on 12th
.
Street, go to the end of the block turn right into VCU Medical Center Patient and
Vistor's parking deck. (See Map) The cost is two dollars for the first hour and one-
dollar each additional hour.

Please inform the parking attendant that you will be interviewing with the School of
Medicine Admissions office.

Unfortunately we cannot validate your parking tickets.

Yeah the admissions office doesn't validate but if you ask someone in the Gateway building (which is the main entrance which you have to walk through to get from the garage to Sanger) they'll validate anyone not in scrubs/wearing a school ID.
