should we write a thank you letter after interview? how important the letter is?

They are unlikely to make a decision based on your 'thank you' letter, but it's a nice gesture to send one. Can't hurt you.

got the complete email today! bring on that sweet Wake Forest lovin 😀

Me too! I was waitlisted last year, and so I am really hoping to get the interview again this year.

Just got Wake Forest's "we will be unable to accept your application this year" email. What a bummer.
Good luck to the rest of you waiting; I hope you have better luck than I did.

sorry to hear so...
Good luck with the rest of your schools

So looks like I was screened out. If you get screened out they eventually send you an email with a pdf saying sorry we are not able to offer you a place in our school this year or something like that.

But I was kinda expecting it after I talked to a friend back in July. But i thought I should just try anyways. But there and VCU and FIU screened me out. Other places people told me would screen me out screened me in and gave the secondary. so I'm not too concerned.

But yes you should get an email if you are officially screened out and Wake is kinda slow so it might not be quickly as possible.

What did your friend tell you that had you expecting to be screened out?

Just learned that the Holiday Inn Express at 110 Miller Street is not only the closest hotel to the medical center but also has a slightly better rate (68.99) than any other available online (that I could find, at least) if you call their front desk and identify yourself as a person interviewing at Wake Forest (hotel front desk 336-721-0220).

I have read the complete WF thread but may have overlooked the answer to this question: about how many prospective students on average for each interview day?

Thanks!

some one told me they were 6 on his interview day. I dont know if that is because it was in september but yea i would like to know that too

Thanks, 4ksibe and OrangeandMaroon. That's much smaller than the ones I've been to so far. Good to know in advance!

Someone several pages back posted a question about the interview format, indicating it was MMI (multiple mini-interview) last year. I didn't catch the reply if any for this year. I would be grateful to know.

a person who interviewed told me it was three mini (15 mins) interviews one on one

Still the case. Three one-on-one interviews at 15-20min each. You might also have read that one interviewer asks more difficult questions or tries to gauge you response to stress by making the interview more stressful. I didn't have that experience and I would assume the other five interviewees during the day I interviewed didn't either. So, take it as you will. Best of luck!

Yup 6 per interview day. 3 interviewers total interview 6 applicants over the course of 2 hours. For each interview you get a first warning after 15 minutes (and can end it there, but since it's so short to begin with, I wouldn't do that) and then a second warning another ~5 minutes after that. You usually get one last minute to wrap it up, though it depends on your interviewer. I didn't have any stress interviews.

The day is pretty short. It's only 5 hours and is fairly typical relative to other schools. The tour guide is usually not the person who has lunch with you so you get to speak to about 3 different students as part of the formal interview day, and more if you seize the right moments (such as at lunch).

To clarify, the Wake interview is not what is classically meant by MMI. Wake does have three brief, or "mini," interviews, but their interview program is not the true MMI that you see at Cincinnati and Carilion.

Just for everyone's FYI. I stayed at the Holiday Inn express. It was great AND they have a free shuttle (or they did last year, you might want to confirm) that drops you off and picks you up right in front of the building you need to get to 🙂 Plus, there is a panera bread and a yummy inexpensive restaurant called Cagney's very close on the same block. good luck to all those interviewing!

The Hawthorne Inn has the same rate, and has free shuttle service to and fro, nice complimentary breakfast, very clean rooms/beds, and more. I'd definitely recommend it (though I'm not saying it's better or worse than the holiday inn express).

Lucky enough to receive an interview after checking the status page today. When does Wake Forest stop interviewing and is there any sort of student hosting ?

OOS Complete ~4 weeks ago
no student hosting here

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to plan out my trip and I was wondering what is the best way to get to and from the Greensboro airport? I was having trouble figuring out the bus routes and time schedules.

Would it be better or cheaper to just rent a car for one day?

Thanks!

Hi,

I am interviewing at Wake Forest on November 19, and I was wondering if anyone wanted to split the cost of a cab fare or a rental car w/me. I am hoping to fly in on November 18. If you are interested, please reply to this message or pm me. Thanks! Really excited about interviewing here! 🙂

I think public transportation is the most common (and cheapest) although it does consume more time.

You can rent a car for ~$30/day from Dollar Rent-a-car @ GSO if you search around a few sites for deals like pre-paid / advance booking. The under-25 years old fee makes it questionable since some places charge an additional ~$25 if you're "underage".

Rental car seems like the best option... or more like the least stressful option. If there is anyone interviewing Nov 10th that would like a ride to or from Greensboro let me know! I would love the company 🙂

Hey everyone! I'm interviewing at Wake on October 26... can someone please direct me to where I can find the best, most descriptive information regarding the school and its programs? I never found a whole lot of detailed info when I was filling out my secondary, and now I'm trying to get to know the school a bit better before I arrive...

Thanks so much in advance!

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could give me an estimate of how long it might take between secondary completion and interview invite? I submitted my secondary three weeks ago, but wasn't marked as "complete" until last week. I know they continue to review applications throughout the year until they either reject or invite to interview, but I wasn't sure about the "typical" timespan, and I'm the kind of person who will obsessively check email, so I'm kind of shopping for reassurance. I'm OS, 34-Q, 3.97, if any of that is relevant. Thanks!

They do things in "batches", so considering your timing of being complete, I would guess the time to interview invitation would be between 2-4 weeks. If you are lucky and get in the most recent batch, it will be 2 weeks, if in the next batch, then I'd guess ~4 weeks. Best of luck 👍

Did anybody receive a phone call to schedule an interview, or is everything done through e-mail? My status says the general "we will call you or e-mail you to schedule an interview" ... but I wasn't sure which they were actually doing.

No, I've never seen anyone get a phone call from Wake for an interview. They communicate electronically. Best of luck :luck:

If you have time, check out the threads from the last two years. Some individuals called to check on the status of their application and were given invites over the phone. However, in each case I read the applicant initiated the call, not the other way around. I'm not suggesting you call but merely read the previous threads and make your own judgment. Best of luck!!!

accepted!! inform her in writing.. does that mean we have to use snail mail?

Accepted!!!

The email really bummed me out at first though, they need to work on making it have a more pleasant tone.

Interviewed early October.

Alternate List 🙁

But I've heard its not a bad place to be, something like half their class comes from it so I'm not feeling too bummed.

Congrats to all the folks who got accepted!!!

ACCEPTED FINALLY AFTER TWO LONG APPLICATION CYCLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

😍 This is definitely my top choice too!!!!!

Stats: OOS, 3.8 cGPA, 3.73 sGPA, 29P - interviewed and waitlisted here last year.

Thats really exciting, also probably makes you retrospectively thankful that you weren't accepted by some school you didn't really like last year!

Congratulations jadealer👍:luck: and everyone accepted
I was waitlisted 🙁, but I'm happy for you 🙂

Congrats to those with acceptances! 🙂 👍

I wish I had some good news but they haven't updated my status or sent me an e-mail so I'm feeling paranoid :scared::scared:

Accepted today also. That acceptance letter scared the hell out of me, especially since it was an attachment on a very foreboding e-mail.

Am attending here for sure. 1st choice. For those who have been accepted today, is Wake any of your first choices? Does anybody know when we are offered a financial aid package?

I definitely am! WF has been my top choice over 2 years now!

I believe they send financial aid out in April. They get your info by March 15, then I believe it about a month later.

Interviewed September 8th. A few weeks after my interview, after seeing a couple more schools, I sent a letter of intent stating that Wake was my #1 school. No actual updates since I graduated last year and all I do is work in my research lab.

I am so unbelievably psyched to rent an entire house for less than $600 a month! I used to share a one bedroom apartment next to UCLA for $800 (no kidding).

jadealer, I hope to see you soon! I'll be the Asian guy who respond to "Huang!"

So, to anyone on the alternate list, by "in writing" do you think they mean email or snail mail?
