I'm interviewing at wake this fall, I was curious if there where any specific apartment complexes / condos / neighborhoods that med-students tend to live in, so I can drive by and get a feel for where I might be living.

I got an e-mail from them saying that I needed confirmation from my advisor that I would be finished with my graduate program by July 2011, but since it went to my spam I never saw it...that just wasted 2 weeks at least for me! I hope it's not too late since WF is a top choice for me...

Yeah, I think over the course of the first 1.5 years you spend 4 weeks with a community IM/Peds/FP

Both. However, your status will likely be updated before you receive email notification. I believe my status was updated two days before I received an email.

How did you check the status? My application doesn't say anything at all, but I've been complete since 8/11. I feel like it's a little late now for this school since they're taking so long, but it doesn't even say that I'm "under review" like most other colleges do.

Check the email they sent you acknowledging that they received your AMACS. The subject should be "Wake Forest University School of Medicine Application". In the email is a link to the status page.

I'd say and 2-2.5 weeks or so. They tend to do things in "batches", but for the most part are impressively efficient.

Awesome thanks for the info! This is definitely one of those long-shot schools for me. I received their "prospective applicant" email b/c I am a minority but my MCAT isn't too impressive. I'm hoping my stellar GPA can make-up for that.

on hold in the sense they reviewed your app and they can probably go back to look at it. i'm in the same position, not sure what will happen.

I spoke to the lady at wake forest about this status as it is the same status that I have. Basically, if you have this status, you have been placed in an interview pool. According to prior posts on this thread from last year, you could be hearing about an interview any day, as they send them out as soon as there are dates available. However, this status also says nothing about the tier of the pool you are in, so unless you call to ask specifically, there's no way to know what your future holds unless you wait until they change your status page.

So you can call and ask? I would think that would get very annoying for the admissions people.

I believe in the 2009-10 Wake thread somebody said that there are roughly 1000 people in the pool with 5-600 interview spots available.

I received an email that said basically the same thing. Then a couple weeks later I got an interview invite. I scheduled the interview as early as I could, but they were already into October (when I called it was before Labor Day). My interview is Oct. 18. Anyone else going then?

I have the same one as you. The one with March instead of May. I hope they mean the same thing!

So today I went from having this hold message to an interview without a status change. Hopefully this means you can worry less about the status page and won't be checking it every two hours like I was.

Interview invite this morning! I'm excited to see this school! I love that they interview Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri...so many options and I don't need to take time off from work. Just to let you guys know when I called the dates she offered were towards the end of October so still plenty of room for interviews this cycle!

Trust me, you haven't been passed over. I was complete 8/20 and received invite yesterday. Keep in mind it can take 6-8 weeks for a decision esp now when a bunch of people are sending their stuff in to meet the deadlines. You've only been complete for 2.5 weeks so stay optimistic 🙂

I did GSO, but I had someone to pick me up from the airport. Its about 20 -25 minutes from GSO to WFUBMC so I'm not sure how much that would cost if you wanted a taxi/shuttle.

The admissions staff have been really helpful for various things so if you emailed them asking what most people do, you could probably get a good response
