I'm interviewing at wake this fall, I was curious if there where any specific apartment complexes / condos / neighborhoods that med-students tend to live in, so I can drive by and get a feel for where I might be living.
 
dad gummit! I got an e-mail from them saying that I needed confirmation from my advisor that I would be finished with my graduate program by July 2011, but since it went to my spam I never saw it...that just wasted 2 weeks at least for me! I hope it's not too late since WF is a top choice for me...
 
does anyone know if the Foundations in Clinical Medicine (FCM) course at Wake Forest includes preceptorships/shadowing community-based primary-care physicians?

Yeah, I think over the course of the first 1.5 years you spend 4 weeks with a community IM/Peds/FP
 
Does wake forest notify you of an interview through e-mail or just status update?

Both. However, your status will likely be updated before you receive email notification. I believe my status was updated two days before I received an email.

I got an interview invite, but only by way of a status update. No e-mail. :eyebrow: hmmmmmmm, what does that mean.......😎

Sorry Moman, hang in there, it is still early and something will work out.

How did you check the status? My application doesn't say anything at all, but I've been complete since 8/11. I feel like it's a little late now for this school since they're taking so long, but it doesn't even say that I'm "under review" like most other colleges do.

Check the email they sent you acknowledging that they received your AMACS. The subject should be "Wake Forest University School of Medicine Application". In the email is a link to the status page.
 
Hey everyone!

Just wondering how long after your submitted your AMCAS to WF did it take to receive notification that they were going to review your application for screening? They were a late addition to the schools I applied to.

I'd say and 2-2.5 weeks or so. They tend to do things in "batches", but for the most part are impressively efficient. :xf:

Awesome thanks for the info! This is definitely one of those long-shot schools for me. I received their "prospective applicant" email b/c I am a minority but my MCAT isn't too impressive. I'm hoping my stellar GPA can make-up for that.

Anyone know where I can find more information about the curriculum? So far, I've only been able to find a list of courses for each year, but no details for each.
 
Are the interviews still the "speed dating" type they were last year??

I would also second this question. There website isn't too informative...

"your application is complete. interview invitations are offerend september through may. if you receieve an invitation, you will be contacted by e-mail or phone."

is this message indicate that im on hold?

on hold in the sense they reviewed your app and they can probably go back to look at it. i'm in the same position, not sure what will happen.
 
I spoke to the lady at wake forest about this status as it is the same status that I have. Basically, if you have this status, you have been placed in an interview pool. According to prior posts on this thread from last year, you could be hearing about an interview any day, as they send them out as soon as there are dates available. However, this status also says nothing about the tier of the pool you are in, so unless you call to ask specifically, there's no way to know what your future holds unless you wait until they change your status page.

ah wow, did she say anything about rejecting post secondary? b/c im sure this interview pool is huge.

So you can call and ask? I would think that would get very annoying for the admissions people.

I believe in the 2009-10 Wake thread somebody said that there are roughly 1000 people in the pool with 5-600 interview spots available.

I received an email that said basically the same thing. Then a couple weeks later I got an interview invite. I scheduled the interview as early as I could, but they were already into October (when I called it was before Labor Day). My interview is Oct. 18. Anyone else going then?
 
does anyone know how OOS friendly this school is? on their website they dont have their current students' stats.
 
I know this is a bit paranoid/crazy question haha...but is the status above that many people have mean that I am in a worse spot? Mine sounds very similar but is slightly different:

"Your application is complete. Interviews are by invitation from September to March. If you are invited, you will receive a e-mail or phone call to schedule an interview."

This is one of my top choices 😳

I have the same one as you. The one with March instead of May. I hope they mean the same thing!

same. what the heck. haha. trying to analyze med schools is so frustrating.
 
Last year, quite a few people called expressing interest and it worked out well for them. Do you guys think WF gives points for calling or should we just wait it out?

Next interview day thats available is October 13th

So today I went from having this hold message to an interview without a status change. Hopefully this means you can worry less about the status page and won't be checking it every two hours like I was.
 
Interview invite this morning! I'm excited to see this school! I love that they interview Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri...so many options and I don't need to take time off from work. Just to let you guys know when I called the dates she offered were towards the end of October so still plenty of room for interviews this cycle!
 
When were you guys complete? Or how long from the "hold" status until invite?
 
I can't find how to look at the status. All I can do is go on the secondary application link, but nowhere does it say anything about the status. Could someone post the link for checking the status on here? Thank you!
 
I'm sure someone has answered this before, but how many secondaries are given out?
 
Complete on 9/7 and invite on 9/22...idk if this helps but I turned in my secondary on 8/9, letters were finally in on 8/31
 
For those who interviewed here, which airport did you guys come into? Greensboro (GSO) or Winston-Salem (INT)? Thanks, I'm horrible with booking flights

Trust me, you haven't been passed over. I was complete 8/20 and received invite yesterday. Keep in mind it can take 6-8 weeks for a decision esp now when a bunch of people are sending their stuff in to meet the deadlines. You've only been complete for 2.5 weeks so stay optimistic 🙂

I did GSO, but I had someone to pick me up from the airport. Its about 20 -25 minutes from GSO to WFUBMC so I'm not sure how much that would cost if you wanted a taxi/shuttle.

The admissions staff have been really helpful for various things so if you emailed them asking what most people do, you could probably get a good response
