This is true. Edit: CCLCM invites are going to be in the pipeline relatively soon!

Incidentally, I am currently infiltrating the second floor of vc7777's secretly public hideaway. And, yes, I agree, it could do with a soft-serve machine.

...but only if they stop charging a dollar for a single nectarine, even if it is remarkably fresh and mouthwateringly delicious...

thanks for the heads up Myuu! You've been a great help

Yay my application was just marked as complete! Did you guys get an email interview invite or did it show up on your status page?

you get an email invite telling you to visit the status page

😏 I may have been three doors down from you...listening to a critique of journal articles with my classmates (the bigger rooms just beyond our PBL rooms)

Yes, if I can get the softserve or ("fro-yo") machine in the lounge, we save money on recruiting costs. I mean, once word gets out, free tuition AND free ice cream - it will pay for itself. :meanie:

WOW! CCLCM was already #1, but it just ran away from the rest of the pack.

Well, it will take all my mojo to get the softserve machine here. When I do it, I will be a legend.

But then again, anything is possible here. I mean, we (as a student body) did get official approval of T-shirts made with prancing, spinning, sparkly unicorns on it just recently. I ordered T-shirts for my whole family! Should be here soon. Can't wait to take the X-mas card pictures this year! 😉

Ahh how many characters is pushing it for the research essay...how does say 4800 sound =O

3500 < 4800

Character limits exist for a reason. Following directions, as Myuu has pointed out, is highly desirable in an applicant. So is succinctness. Good luck editing! 👍

Its always better to err on the side of caution

Its always better to err on the side of caution

well maybe not always but in this case it is

Let me re-rephrase: This isn't a fine line. This is more like the speed of light. It's not just a good idea: It's the law. Do not exceed the limits.

Also, oaa, nice job with the self-quoting, self-conversation! 👍

Um... FYI to anyone who hasn't submitted, DO NOT submit at 4 in the morning. I just went back to recheck the length of my essay and instead of 3480 characters, like I thought it was last night, it was 3580.

Sadsack :<

I thought they say to limit to within one page and that the character limit is ABOUT 3500. So I wrote 3582 characters, but still within one page.

Luckily if we get interview invites for both tracks,
do they interview at the same day or separate day ?
If it is separate, do we have to make another trip ?

Thanks

For those who already submitted, what's done is done.

However:
For reference, this sentence is exactly 82 characters, you couldn't cut that much? :eyebrow:

Brevity is the soul of wit. Let me be blunt: Nobody wants to read even 3500 characters. If you can't say it within 3500 characters, then an additional 50, 100, or even 500 characters will have only a marginal impact, and possibly negative, on your application reviewer.

This is the intention of holding notification of decisions to interview until both programs have had a chance to review your file.

Interviews are in succession, one separate days. This makes is logistically very easy to attend both. I interviewed on a Thursday with CCLCM, and then the following morning had my UP interview.

We interview on back-to-back days so you only have to make one trip.🙂

Just submitted. Really hoping for some Case love...this place, along with all of you, seems awesome!!!

Hey, anyone know what they mean by "personal areas?" This is what I wrote:

"One important personal area I should strengthen would be my abdominal muscles. These represent the body’s “core” and are critical for effective movement in many martial arts, including Aikido. Strong abdominal muscles help to prevent herniation and maintain proper static and dynamic posture. A well-toned layer of muscle over the abdomen also protects the viscera from mechanical injury. Finally, having a “six-pack” would be a boon to my efforts to attract the ladies. To this end I have decided to attempt regular isotonic exercise. Several times a day, for as long as I can, I will attempt to pull my sternum to my pubic bone. These powerful contractions would come at irregular intervals and last for irregular periods of time, thus simulating natural “power-law” conditions where frequency and intensity are related by an exponential decay curve. Such a distribution characterizes many natural systems and should evoke the most rapid adaptive response (increasing muscle strength and size) according to some research."

Not attending Case Western (but I did apply last year!) but I had to comment on this...

:bang::wtf:

This. Is. Amazing. Now quit procrastinating by writing parodies and write the real thing

Bravo!

Do you guys screen cGPA or sGPA? Would love to go to this school but my cGPA is low...everything else super competitive 🙂

Thanks!

Nope! See my MDApps. Apply away!

I am going to be shameless, and just ask. Should I even bother applying to this school? I have a 34/3.42sGPA/3.52cGPA (By December, should be 3.47s/3.54c). I have limited financial resources, and from looking at SDN, it looks like Case heavily favors those with a strong research background and/or high MCAT (35+). Please be brutal in assessment of competitiveness. I think I already know the answer...
Numbers aren't everything. Research is flexible. The complete picture of you is what is important. And how you fit the curriculum. For the latter, read up on how PBL works and whether it fits you well or not 🙂

Indeed! Thanks for reminding me! I believe people watching it unfold said it was a "slow-motion mental train-wreck!".
I believe I said it was a schizophrenic soliloquy, actually.

+pad+

How are people doing? 🙂

Aruiga and the MS2s (sounds like a band) should be rolling into town later this week! 👍
I like how that sounds, vc....if you can pronounce my name 😉

Loved this. Don't submit it tho ;P

Bump😀
Does anyone have anything to say about this?
Specifically, I am married and my wife might have children while I'm in medical school. Any comments?
You have time during medical school for a home life, especially at Case. Class ends at 12. So if you are able to structure yourself to be productive in a time frame, you can easily have time for your family. That's years 1 and 2. 3 and 4 have their own challenges, but that's the same at any school. But Case is the best place I could think of for M1 and M2. Hubby and I are quite happy 😀

Go go pirates! Down with the ninjas!@#!
Ooooooooh no, you did NOT go there.
ninja-pirate.jpg

Well, that's it...now I am accepting kitty applications for Clan Pirate

Pointless. That's obviously photoshopped *pfft* Everyone knows cats are inherently ninjas:

Please, people.

(but hi peripherin - yay, you've been lurking! come back to the cleve already!)

Is there any reason that I should not have received Case's secondary yet? I was verified by AMCAS mid-June but had to resubmit for Case, because I had not initially applied there.

Everyone gets a secondary! Maybe you'll get an email in a week or so. R u from Indiana?
