Has anyone received a pre-interview rejection from Columbia recently?
no, i don't think all students found out yesterday. I think quite a few people will find out today, whether it's by phone or email. This may be a stupid question but do we think that all accepted students found out yesterday? Is there a chance that we could receive an acceptance today?
are they in the towers? also, if anyone has any idea the rent people spend for a couples' apartment that would be really helpful!
miayo - it's a big priority mail envelope with a folder inside; I think the unfortunate news will be coming as a letter in a regular-sized envelope
Got a call from my interviewer at 6AM today (west coast), the early wake was totally worth it, though I can't imagine how I sounded on the phone.
He also told me that acceptance letters had already been mailed, so check your mail.
So stoked right now and good luck to those who are still waiting!!!
this thread is so cray i had a dream that everyone else got a call and i didn't so i was assuming rejection...
They are in the towers yes. Dependingvwhat you want, it is somewhere between 1300-1900. It's all available on the housing wesite
Is the commute to the financial district a pain from Washington Heights? My husband is in trading and can move to Manhattan, but now the trouble is whether to live halfway so that each of us commutes some, or one of us makes a huge haul. Also I'm assuming that the rental prices in the Towers is VERY favorable compared to prices in the rest of the island. Also...has anyone lived in the Bronx and commuted to Columbia from there?

+1Pretty sweet. Just got a blank email from the admissions office.
Glad to know they haven't completely forgotten about me![]()
This is the worst school with IT - blank emails, losing data, ect. they are terrible.

Just rejected via e-mail a couple minutes ago. Complete mid-August.
Mailman came and went (I'm in NYC). Nothing...guessing it's a rejection!
Good luck to everyone..!
Pre-interview?
Thanks mega and mmc. Hubby suggested living in Chelsea...but then I quickly shot that down.
To others waiting to hear: I haven't received any snail mail, yet, so chins up.
rejected pre-interview. i loled at the email... funny wording. but it's been a good cycle, columbia!
thanks for the info paoeny and percy. truth be told the only reason i don't want to live in chelsea is that i don't want us to be labeled as another gay couple in chelsea. i'm not going to post anymore until all the decisions go out so as not to stress others out who are still waiting to hear.
good luck to all of you guys. you're all amazing amazing people no matter what some school/interviewer/piece of paper tells you.
Here is the full email for those that have not had the pleasure of being rejected ;-)
Dear Applicant:
The Committee on Admissions and I regret to inform you that we will not be able to act favorably on your application for admission to our next entering class.
This letter most emphatically does not mean that the Committee regards you as unsuited to the practice of medicine or even that it feels you could not meet the demands of our curriculum. It is the result primarily of having thousands of well qualified applicants and only 165 places in our next entering class.
I hope that you have gained admission to another medical school. The Committee joins me in wishing you well in your future medical career.

Nothing in the mail, NYC area. I figure it's probably a rejection, though I'm hoping for a waitlist at least. Sad because this was my dream school. Oh well. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted

After reading your post a couple of times, I've gotta say--as a Chelsea/HK/Village-loving, Jewspanic, ex-vegetarian, pomosexual New Yorker--I resent this, and it saddens me. What exactly are you saying about Chelsea gays, and who is 'labeling' you as such? Sigh, I'm gonna go read some Chauncey. 🙁
