That's eye-opening and somewhat surprising, considering that they do have a MD-PhD program.

Any others have experience talking about research in interviews? Better yet, do any current students want to comment?

Huh. That would explain my pre-interview rejection as well. My secondary mentioned my research quite a bit.

just got mine via e-mail. It comes to you as a status update on your login page. Best of luck to everyone!! 🙂

When did you interview? I've been waiting for a decision just over 8 weeks now, which I should suspect is normal given the holiday season.

Just got an email this morning saying the decision was available online! Interviewed 11/2

Did anybody who interviewed on 11/28 hear back?

Also, if you are waitlisted/rejected does your status page change to reflect that or do you just receive a letter in the mail?

Thanks

I interviewed on 10/28 and was put in the competitive applicant pool (read: waitlist). It showed up on my status page as a link to the letter and they sent me an email telling me that a decision was posted on the page. Totally thought it was a flat out rejection so I was pleased to read that I still had a shot. Good luck!

I don't understand why Georgetown doesn't have an MPH program. One would think the school would try to leverage its location in the heart of the city where national health policy is shaped and public health issues are confronted.

Anyone know why there's no MD/MPH program? Is the med student interested in public health and policy more suited for GW (which has MPH and seems to utilize its location in DC more)?

Anyone who has interviewed, is 5pm a late enough flight out from Reagan?

That's cutting it close. They say expect to be there until 4, but realistically, you should be done by 3:30. Assuming you grab a cab right away, you should be able to make it in time. If you have a suitcase you need to check in though, that's a different story.

Same question here, I'm eyeing the 5:10 to Memphis.

I think we will be ok. They promise it's done by 4 and it's 7 miles to the airport. As long as you don't check anything, the timing seems like it'll be perfect, especially if the day is done early..
Anyone else whose done theirs to chime in at what time they were done?

I was also done about 3 or 3:30. You can also request to go "first" (all the applicants sit in the fishbowl and are called to their interviews in pairs). We had a couple people with early flights do that and it worked out just fine, they were done before 2 I think

if we want to request to go earlier, do we just tell the admissions office this when we report there in the morning? or should we tell them in advance?

The interviewer coordinator will ask you at some point in the morning whether you'd like to go earlier.

Does anyone know when the last interview date is? I'm hoping it's soon so that they start pulling people from the CAP!

I hope it's soon too! I emailed admissions, and they said they may start to review CAP letters by the end of this month :xf:

OoOo thanks for sharing! :xf: That would be great if they pulled some people after the meeting on the 26th.

If you go to Georgetown, they hook up you with another school's MD/MPH program (I think it was Johns Hopkins? I don't remember exactly) and you get a leave of absence from GTown for one year to do your MPH degree. But, I agree that GW seems much more invested in the DC community and active in the opportunities offered by DC...

Thanks for the info about the MPH! As far as the GW vs. Gtown on the DC community, I was just postulating but you think it's true? Anyone else have comments about that?

Does anyone else remember hearing that GU tries to graduate their students with no more than $200,000 in debt? I think they mentioned this at the financial aid talk, but I'm not sure. I am really hoping this is the case though because I did the math for cost of living and tuition and it comes out to be more than $300,000 :/

Just canceled my interview for feb 7th. I'm broke and just don't see myself at gt. Good luck all!

Has anybody actually done GU's MS in Bioethics? It seems great on paper, but it'd be nice to hear from someone who's actually been there and done that.

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I had an update I wanted to send Georgetown. I asked them what would be the best way to do this, and they said to use their post secondary update link. When I went to my application from applyyourself, all I could find was a link to update my profile, but nothing to send in an update about my academic work. Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you!

Click Application on the middle of the page. Then GU post submission updates on the left. But if you're on the wait list you should also send an email about the upload.

anyone know if gtown has a place where you can store luggage in the admissions office during the interview day?

Yeah, there's a room lovingly referred to as the fishbowl that serves as the hub for your interview day. It's locked when you and the other applicants aren't there during your lunch and tour. You'll be able to keep your luggage and other belongings in there for the day.

Good luck on your interview! My strongest impression from Georgetown was that everyone remarked how conversational and relaxed their interviews were. I hope that's the case for you too! :luck:

ah yeah i read a lot about the fishbowl on the interview feedback page. curious to see what it looks like!

thanks, fellow UC-er 🙂

You're welcome! We UC-ers got to stick together! 😀

Yeah, it's actually a nice room. There's a whole bunch of resources, including match lists, and past yearbooks that you can browse through! You should definitely check it out.

So...any word when CAP is supposed to move?

As of last week they still hadn't started to got into CAP. Admissions told to check in with them at the end of this week and they would let me know more so I'll keep everyone posted on what I hear!

Awesome! Fingers crossed :xf::xf:

Anyone know how Georgetown is on financial aid/scholarships. I love the school but highly doubt the financial situation at Georgetown is going to persuade me to go there haha

Hey everyone. I interviewed in late November (11/21/11 to be exact) so it has been a little over 10 weeks. At the interview, we were told that we would hear back in 6-8 weeks. The website says 8-10 weeks. Anyone have any further information about how long to expect to wait between interviews and decisions? For instance, has anyone else who interviewed around when I did heard back? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

mrs sullivan said today that if you hadn't heard back by 10 weeks you can email her and ask what's the status of your app

I'd really like to know too. GU is definitely up there on my list, but it is so expensive and living in DC is really expensive too.

+1. i def want to know. average debt approx 200k :scared: there's still a good shot that I'll pick Gtown though. I don't have the luxury of having many cheaper options.

from my presentation yesterday... i think she said 80% get some kind of aid, with 40% getting need-based aid. there's not that much money to give out but they try their best. need-based aid from gtown is based on your parents' ability to fund you.

also many students told me that even though it's expensive to live in dc, the financial aid they give you is more than enough to cover, so you actually end up not taking out all of your loans. in that they overbudget. soo i guess that could be a good thing?

Got my decision back today. I've been placed in the competitive applicant pool. Interviewed 11/17. Though I'm happy I didn't get a flat out rejection, I would have loved an acceptance from here. I guess this means more waiting to do.

Hey guys,

Does the interview invitation come as a status update notification email, or is there an "interview invite" specific email?

I got an email that a decision has been made this morning ..........
It was a pre-interview rejection

It's an email and you go to a link to schedule a day.

Just placed in the competitive applicant pool after interviewing 11/18.

Who do I send/address my update letter to? I vaguely remember Ms. Sullivan saying to send it to her.

Thanks!
