I just paid the secondary fee and then created a login. However, I still have not received that info in my email. I even tried resetting that password in the hopes that they will send me another email...but I still have not gotten anything. Has this happened to anyone else?

It takes them a really long time. I was thinking the same thing, but I didn't reset the password since I thought it might mess it up. It came several hours later...

Thanks. Looks like I just have to wait and hope that resetting it didn't mess anything up.

For the essays, like the one about stepping out of your comfort zone...do you guys think it has to be medical related?

Can you guys give me some advice?

I'm wondering whether I should actually apply to MSU, seeing as I'm Canadian. They say they accept Canadians but in the MSAR out of 300 international applicants only 5 were interviewed and none matriculated (assuming Canadians are considered international?). So...to apply or not to apply, that is the question. (Plus, I dislike these secondary questions)

II started 9/10 last year so we might need 2 weeks more

wanna know what sucks...like 4 yrs ago my dad was offered to be director of the NICU at a hospital in Texas! I keep informing him I probably would have had several interviews and probably offers of admission by now if he would have taken it just in case he forgets 😛

There's at least one Canadian (Toronto) in my class. Might be more, still orientation week and I have not met everyone.

There's a disproportional number of Cali OOSers at CHM, at least a dozen in my class. Doesn't really matter where you're from as long as you're a "good fit" with the school.

Hey Everyone,

M1 here - let me know if you have any questions about the school. I can definitely echo what rented mule said - there are at least 3 Canadians in our class in Grand Rapids alone, and about 20 Californians across both campuses. Best of luck!

Are you loving it?

Agreed! MSU is a great fit for me. It feels like the curriculum is tailored exactly to my learning style =).

Loving MSU? Absolutely - couldn't have found a better med school for me.

Loving feeling behind in anatomy after day 2.... eh lol

Faaaaaak, yeah anatomy scares me hardcore.

Ya, I mean it's difficult, but med school isn't as bad as it was made out to be, at least in my mind. Granted there is a lot of material (they offer "course packs" here that are like mini-textbooks for each class and is what is taught directly out of, and there were about 5 reams of paper for this semester) but it isn't super difficult material. I mean, ya, we work hard, but it's not like everyone is super stressed out and seems like on the verge of a breakdown. Overall this school is very healthy, attitude-wise.

Granted we haven't had any tests yet 🙂 , but even then the school allows for you to recover from poor performances by spreading out evaluation throughout the semester. I'd hate to go to a school where your entire (or near your entire) grade was gleaned from a single test at the end of the semester.

Me too! I would not be happy with that.

There is a beautiful sunset over the secchia center right now! The second week of classes are in full swing. Somehow most of us already feel behind. The volume of information is enormous, but I love CHM. I feel like the admin really care about us. My classmates are great, caring people and we are all very excited to be here. It may seem tough now, but we are going to make it through.

Just wanted to give a heads up that interviews are starting september 20 in grand rapids. I'm not sure when they will start in east lansing. If you have any questions let me know!

Yeah MSU-CHM is awesome and the Block II students in Grand Rapids are soooo cool and awesome!

Is anyone else getting the error message when they log in to check status or is it just me?

Just wanted to wish all of you good luck, now that interviewing season is about to begin. Remember that this whole journey will be a rough ride, but it's worth it in the end!

Hey guys...so I'm a little confused. I received an II today (yay!) but it def says to confirm by Wednesday, Sept 7, 2011 (which def already passed) AND the II is for Tuesday, Sept. 22 (uhhh isn't that a Thursday? and also like next week so a little short notice??). I checked my status page on the MSU website and it confirms that the II was sent today (so it's wasn't delayed due to my e-mail service or anything). Did anyone else get an II today and is also confused about the dates??

It may not be an error, but I'd suggest calling admissions anyway if it's of concern to you. It is short notice, but is it worth it to you? You could probably ask for a later date, but that'll be up to you.

As a side note, that is after they told us interviews would start so that's not a typo.

CodeBlu when were you complete/entered review by a committee. I entered on 8/3. Trying to get a timeline for myself.

I received an interview invite via status update... but I never got the email. I'm thinking about calling.

Ahh problem solved...they sent a second e-mail shortly after, and it turned up in my spam box. Try checking there to see? This was my first med school e-mail to end up there. If you have the same Interview Day as me, then it's actually Tuesday, Sept. 20 and you must confirm by 8 am on Thursday, Sept. 15.

I haven't gotten a second e-mail? The only e-mail in my spam box is something about an Army Scholarship.

Ok that's odd. I would definitely call soon since you have to confirm by Thursday!
