I missed the call but he left me a message saying he figured I was busy watching the game... unfortunately I was working and missed both the game and his call hahaha. I interviewed Nov. 3rd, and I'm instate. I'm hoping to go to the GR campus. Good luck to everybody else waiting!!!

Wow interesting..how frequently do they pull off the alternate list? And when would they do it? Are the 2 interviews open access to scores etc?32R 3.5 gpa IS. Strong extracurrriculars and felt good about my interview.

I've heard some good stories about people coming off the waitlist. Some talked about it in this forum actually.
And no, the interviewers do not have access to your grades. I'm pretty sure it's just personal statement and activities list. I don't know if they even have your undergraduate college.

We have everything but scores. So that does include institutions attended.
The waitlist does have movement. Several people in my class (GR alone) came off the waitlist, even after May. Good luck!
A senior member of an ad com interviews a nontraditional medical school applicant and the give-and-take appears to be going well. The interview was supposed to last 30 minutes, but the interviewer brings it to a close after 20 with the statement, "Well, Jim, you are an unusual applicant and XYZMS is an unusual medical school."
I'm dying to find out what, if anything, the interviewer meant by the early termination and those enigmatic words.

I'm dying to find out why you cross-posted this to six different forums. 🙄
First, my apologies. Now the excuses: not an applicant, I'm a minimally tech savvy parent of an applicant with an MCAT score in the 40s with just one interview. I still do not quite know how to use this forum. I thought, for example, only BU students and prospective BU students paid attention to the school specific thread (?) and I was hoping for input from as many as I could generate.
I know its frustrating to have a great (and in your case an outstanding) MCAT score and still find yourself with no or few interviews, but I think getting into medical school its imperative to show you're well rounded and can offer the 'whole package.' It's hard to offer good insight into your particular case without a bit more details about your childs extra curriculars and gpa w/trend, but I'm sure he/she stands a good chance of getting in somewhere. I know of people who have gotten into US medical schools with MCAT scores as low as 24 and have also seen friends with 34+ get rejected at 'lower tiered' medical schools. Finding a school that offers a strong fit for the applicant and developing a strong, well rounded applicant file can help tremendously.First, my apologies. I hope that helps (even if only a little). If you have further questions feel free to ask.

is there a facebook group or message board somewhere for accepted applicants?

Yup. Here it is: http://www.facebook.com/groups/276965619007631/
I agree with aliasjasmine. The MCAT is only one component of a very broad application. Schools are looking at GPA, extracurricular activities, research experience, volunteer experience, healthcare experience (shadowing, volunteering, etc. w/ emphasis on activities involving patient contact), letters of recommendation, and whatever personality traits can be conveyed on paper. No one is a shoe-in, even with an MCAT score of 40+. If things don't work out this cycle, your child needs to examine and evaluate his/her application with a guidance counsellor and, if possible, someone on an admissions committee at a desireable school. Identify the weak points then spend the next few months working on those and packing in as much valuable experience as possible in the hopes of building a stronger application. Wll be withdrawing. good luck all!![]()
The MSU Fin Aid site seems to be REALLY confusing. Anyone have any idea if they have private scholarships you can apply for? Ones specifically for MSUCHM students? Or any advice on scholarships at all I guess....
Thank you!
I can share my personal experience with CHM scholarships. There are several to apply for before admission and many more to apply for in December of your first and subsequent years. Some are renewable, but not all of them. Award size varies with each scholarship. I personally received a generous scholarship that is renewable for 4 years before first year started that covered a good portion of my tuition. I also applied for another scholarship a couple of weeks ago, but I won't hear back for a few weeks or so. I don't know how many students receive these scholarships because it is not something that we talk about, so I can't comment on how many people get them.
Hope that helps!
Congrats to those accepted last night! another release date is next Tuesday night!!! To those interviewing tomorrow in East Lansing...Good Luck! Relax and have some fun (easier said than done, I'm sure) I will be interviewing tomorrow so some of you might be the lucky ones to get me! To the ones that have been put on the alternate...we have a strong resurgence of 'alternates' come back to committee towards the end of the cycle- have faith! Cheers

Congrats to everyone who made it! I'm a first-year at CHM and didn't interview until April, so don't lose hope if they don't update your AIS account frequently. They have spots saved for each interview round, so timing isn't really an issue. 👍
If you guys have any questions, feel free to PM me. Good Luck!

Hey do you mind posting your stats? Congrats! Interviewed the day before you and did not yet receive a call...Got the call from Dr. Mauer tonight!! Interviewed 1-20-12. So excited!
Hello,
I have an interview scheduled for Feb 23rd. I am just wondering when the decision date is for that time frame and if anyone knows roughly the IS admission data? I wasn't complete (secondary) until Nov. 2011. I'm a little worried now. My stats are: 30S, 3.92 GPA (almost similar sGPA), dual science degree with honors and research/clinical experience.
Any information would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Congrats to those accepted and good luck to those still waiting 🙂

Click on the link above and scroll to the bottom . . . decision dates are listed 🙂
Your stats are competitive. The timing of your interview does not affect your chances for admission per the information in their website, so I wouldn't worry . . . you'll do great!
Good luck!

Has anyone on "hold for interview" received an interview invitation? Or any update?
Nothing yet for me. The email said they were going to review the applications again no later than February. So hopefully we might hear something this month either way.
Congrats!!! I'm so happy/ jelous of you!!! I was wondering when did you find out you were accepted? Also what are your stats if you don't mind.. Thanks! Congrats again!Hi everyone!
I will be attending MSU CHM this fall (so thrilled 😀) & I was hoping to obtain some information and advice on housing in East Lansing. I currently live in Grand Rapids. Any feedback would be helpful! Thanks!
