Since some of you were worried about how not affiliating with the University of Scranton would affect the probation of TCMC, I figured I'd post this update.

The LCME decided today to not only remove TCMC from probation, but also promote us to the next level of accreditation. You can read our dean's comments about it here: http://www.thecommonwealthmedical.com/lcme

BTW, I am a current MD student at TCMC and if anyone has any questions, feel free to message me

To all the accepted - congratulations! To all the wait listed - lets keep praying!

Now that acceptances have rolled out, it's kind of sad looking at how expensive medical schools can be. AAMC shows that the average resident medical tuition is $24,257/year while TCMC is $42,425/year. This stuff gets extremely expensive fast!

P.S. Just so accepted students know, they should join the TCMC '16 Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/233650943415150/

TCMC is almost 52k/year for out of state and 48k/year in state.

yea, that's so much $$$, especially for a school that wants mostly primary care peeps 🙄

I know, although talking with current TCMC students and faculty, most of the student's are NOT interested in primary care specialties. We'll see what the match list looks like when the 4th years match this year!

anyone call recently to get an update about the waitlist?

anyone call recently to get an update about the waitlist?

I have been trying to call for the past 3 weeks. I left 2 voice messages and sent 2 emails and haven't gotten a response from anyone yet. This is a little frustrating; has anyone had a similar experience contacting the admissions office?

I just sent an email and will let everyone know if I get some clarification on how many students are currently holding acceptances.

Reply was non-specific - more of the "class is full" and "we don't know if there will be movement off the waitlist". Would really like to know if we are talking about 67 people currently holding acceptances vs. 100 people holding acceptances out of a class size of 65 so if anyone finds out that info, I would greatly appreciate it!

WOw..never in a million years would i have thought that a significantly newer school will have no movement off the WL. just wondering about the type of students they pickedd out for their class?? or how many could they have picked KNOWING that they were on PROHIBITION? I heard that the oorriginal number was 80 students for a class of 65 from a secondary source...and there has to be more than 15 kids who prolly dropped their acceptances. i am sure i can count more than 15 on sdn itself !!!!!!!
The info was prolly off !!!

i am pity sure there wont be any movement, if absolutely NOTHING has happened yet !!!!! sucks 🙁

Hi. I am new to this thread. Has there been any waitlist movement yet? I tried calling the office last week but no one replied.

I dont know if the class is full yet since on the facebook group there are only 31 members. Any news recently??

Exactly what I was thinking. Can they oversubscribe class? For instance there is a class size of 65 and they give 67 acceptances overall, then I dont think they can accept 2 extra students. People on this thread are in the same predicament just like last year's thread. If any one gets off the waitlist please post on sdn.

Thanks.

Your key to success:

Reach out to the current third years and fourth years (if the latter are on campus during the time)

Ask about board review materials + rely on SDN for overall success

There is often a feeling of "upperclassmen never give me the light of day."

But you have to be proactive in seeking the upperclassmen.

Any one got off the waitlist? I dont understand why the facebook group has only 33 members if they are saying that the class is full? If any one gets an update please post on SDN. Lets keep praying that there is some movement since orientation starts on August 6 and I think they will finalize their class by then.

Thanks.

i just hope u do realize that that not everyone accepted to tcmc has an sdn account. they might not even know that a fb account for their class exist.

Yea ur probably right. But still its weird that its almost end of july and there has been no waitlist movement. Just hope that they atleast get to the waitlist this year.

I'd wait till class starts to see which textbooks you want to shell out the money for. I bought a Littmann cardiology iii stethoscope, the reflex hammer and pen light. Anatomy starts in October so I figure I can wait on the blades and accessories 😛

got off the wait list on friday🙂🙂...so pumped!!! Bye Bye PCOM.....Hello TCMC!! Local...went to UofS...3.5 and 34. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you guys.

34 mcat?!!! How did you not get in sooner to an MD school? Did you apply late? Poor interviews?

Good to hear that waitlist list movement finally began!!

Do you mind sharing how they contacted you? Did they give you a call or did they update the status on the TCMC portal?

I was also taken off the waitlist this week and received a call followed by an email and a letter. Good luck!!

do u mind sharing ur stats bas5111? just want to see if i fit the trend of who they are picking off the waitlist, (including gender and race, if u dont mind !!!) becuase i know they just do not go down the list.

Those who were pulled off the waitlist-- Did all of you hear on Friday or is there any one who heard before friday last week? Just curious to know.

Thanks.

also, are the other two out of the three also PA residents?

my buddy just got off the waitlist today, he is a PA resident and i believe he had a 29 MCAT, unsure of GPA

from what he told me, sounds like a yes!

Well congratulations to him! And I guess this is worth repeating...

Did they call you or you got an email from them? Just curious to know.
Thanks.

Any further waitlist movement? Any one got off the waitlist after monday???

Correct me if I am wrong. So far 4 people have been accepted of the waitlist. (As far as on the SDN goes).

To those who are accepted, has TCMC given you any sort of deadline to decide whether you want to go to TCMC or not. Just curious

Thanks.

it was a two week deadline and $100 deposit...orientation starts next monday aug 6th so i assume as the date gets closer they won't give the full 2 weeks

i received a call and then an email just confirming everything. i believe they said they are going to be making calls as soon as a spot opens
