Congrats! you are probably the first from the 9/29 group. I would get excited about potentially receiving a call too but I don't get cell service at work 😎... Here's to hoping for a nice voicemail surprise when I get off :xf:

thanks guys!!

I had just woken up, and saw I was getting a call but I didn't recognize the number 😛 but then I listened and it was Dr. Calloway and I had to call her back. I sounded so dumb haha

Just got the call a few hours ago! Hooah Army! 9/29 interview. Congrats too Emilyyyy. Looks like we're going to be classmates!

They're calling today? I thought they only called on the 1st and 15th. 😱

Congrats to all! 😀

I received a conditional acceptance call (Navy) at 10:45 this morning [interviewed 09/29]. I had just walked out of the optical portion of my physical! I feel grateful and humbled. I had wondered if this day would ever come.

To those who haven't heard yet - don't give up hope. If I can make it I know you can too. 👍

congrats to all you guys that have been accepted! these calls are starting to make the 10/6 guy nervous!

As of right now, I am not doing a letter of intent. I am going to wait until a few days after my physical decision is made before I start considering that. I've already heard from the school regarding my physical. I figure they might be waiting until that is decided.

just curious...do you think it matters one way or the other?

I just sent my letter off. Already medically qualified so hopefully they look at that favorably.

I personally don't think it matters. The interview is the best chance to not only show that you "fit" the school but you "Intend" to attend that university. If for some reason you did not make your intentions clear in your primaries, secondaries, and interview THEN maybe a letter of intent would be needed. Take my opinion as that I am not on the adcom 🙂 I have contemplated doing an LOI but I think for me it would be extremely redundant and unneeded. My application already bleeds intent lol

Does it matter if I wait or send it off now? Good question. I am just trying to be patient for once. It is not like I haven't heard from the school at all since people started getting phone calls. Plus, my advisor is not a fan of letters of intent. He does not like them because you have already shown interest by applying, attending the interview, the physical, and other work related to it.ad

I am currently working on mine and was going to send it in today, but after reading the posts, I think I will wait until Nov. to send it in.

The way I see it is that it can only help you either way... if you wait, I'm sure you will still be fine. I decided to send mine now because I felt like it shows persistence, and I believe thats a quality that an adcom would like, especially for the military. It speaks to desire more than words on an applicant essay or in an interview imho. But none of us are on an adcom so all we can do is follow our own hearts toward what we think the adcom would want to see/hear. 😕
As far as advisors go, I dont trust them... the advisors I've dealt with have really been less about my individuality and more about shoving clinical xp as the end all-be all of med apps. And their opinions of LOI are probably just as much speculation as mine or yours......

yea i had the same thoughts running through my head...like would they look at it as genuine or if they would think it's too early or whatever but i just ignored it all and trust that the adcoms will look at it in the positive way. it also silenced all the voices in my head (yes multiple haha) and i felt like i got all my desire out there...i "left it all out on the field" so to say. i was just curious to see what other people thought. though i agree it probably is helpful either way

-for people who have already interviewed-

Think arriving around approx. 7pm at USUHS the day before interview for student hosting night is enough time? Or anyone feel too rushed the night before? Btw this sounds like a really awesome thing to get to know the class attitude beforehand 🙂

I agree. You should follow your heart. I sent one to a school the last time I applied. I ended up interviewing there again this app cycle. With it being so early, I am willing to be patient this time.

As for the advisor, he is my graduate school advisor. He actually cares about my success and what I get out of my education. My premed advisor in undergrad was actually discouraging and no help. Normally, I would not trust them as far as I can throw them, but I like this one.

7pm is plenty of time, but if meet up with your host earlier you could probably make it to the host dinner where you can sit and meet with several current students and other applicants. I recommend this. :luck:

So are they doing all of the 9/29's today? I haven't gotten a call and I'm starting to get really nervous.

Good for you... I was definitely commenting on my undergraduate experience 😛

I've got to admit, I am quite anxious about my remedial. I am literally praying to be medically qualified!

I definitely don't think they are covering ALL of 9/29 interviewers today... I doubt seriously that they are even done with the preceding two interview dates. I wouldnt worry just yet.

I'm sure you will be fine... At least they didn't out right say disqualified! and even if they did... waivers aren't too hard to get from what I've heard, just take some time!

You're right. Once I get an edit, I will send it in.

Good luck with your remedial. At least it's so early there shouldn't be an issue.

i doubt it i wouldn't worry about it too much. if it'll happen it'll happen. at least that's what i keep telling myself. no use in getting all mentally worked up for it. just keep busy and distracted!

I think some people are still waiting to hear about the first two dates, so don't be nervous! 👍

You are correct. Deaddoc, isis and i are still waiting for 9/15 9/22

does anyone know how long it takes to hear back about your physical?

you think USUHS is changing up their notification timeline this year?

Has anyone with a conditional acceptance received the letter in the mail yet? As I understand it, you have to sign that letter and mail it back to USU to formally accept your place in the class. Still waiting...

I got the letter on Friday. But I live in the DC area so it would reach me pretty fast.

Actually looks like I got the letter a few days ago, they sent it to my school address but we were on fall break last week. Signed all the forms and sent it back in. Now just waiting for a medical waiver for myopia to come through before I can start withdrawing applications from all the other schools I applied to

Same! Waiting for this remedial to go through. And keeping my fingers crossed that it does.

New member and applicant. I'm soooo freaking nervous right now. My secondary application has been in for a while, but I just recently found out that I have two AMCAS accounts so my MCAT scores haven't gone ANYWHERE!!!! I just want an interview...soooooo bad!!! Definitely top choice right here. I hope that I can join those of you with your acceptance letters. Congratulations to all and Good Luck for those who are still waiting. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! :barf:

Hi,

The invite was done via email. I'm not sure exactly how long it's taking right now but I think it's about 1-2 months.

So how do we know when they receive our signed offer of acceptance forms?

I sent mine by overnight on Tuesday, but it missed the USUHS mail truck on Wednesday morning which apparently comes at 9am, so it should get there today. Has anyone received confirmation that their's was received?

Should I call the admissions office tomorrow to confirm it was received?

I put delivery confirmation on mine and sent it priority mail on Monday, so it should be there by now, but the postal service hasn't updated my delivery status since Monday night. This has happened to me before, the delivery confirmation service seems to be unreliable at best.

I just found out I need some remedial physical testing, so when I call the admissions office to ask about that I'll also ask for confirmation of receipt of my acceptance forms. I don't think it would be out of line for you to call or email and ask for confirmation; they know how important this is to all of us.

My delivery was just confirmed, so I guess I don't need to call. Good luck on your remedial testing!

OMG... got the hold letter today. I am crushed. This means everything to me... I don't know what to do :scared:

did you interview or is it a preinterview hold?

I interviewed 9/22. Hold letter dated 10/20. 🙁

My scores were lower than average so I guess I'm not surprised. I just thought I had a good chance since I had such an early interview.

What should I do now?

hmm well at least it wasn't outright reject. That means you still have hope. Otherwise, hopefully you have a plan b,c,d,e,f,et cetera because it is unwise to bank everything in one school
