Hold on now! My last name theory was just that, A THEORY! and it really has no backing except trying to justify why I didn't get the call. And there is no way you would be SOL because you preffed army... acceptance is not based on your branch choice and its not even possible for all the army slots to be filled yet anyway.

KEEP THE FAITH BROTHER!! 👍

I agree keep the faith! I was just seeing if they were ordering the phone calls by branch. Due to us seeing navy people get called first and then army, I was hypothesizing that they were still calling army people before they get to air force. Though, their phone calls could be completely random. I am just sick of waiting. 🙁

I just think it's weird no one got a call after like 10 on here... Only morning calls I guess?

Hey all! Congratulations to those of you who received acceptances.

Does anyone know if any 09/30 interview date acceptances went out today?

I think this batch was only Sept. 15 and 22 interviewees. Hopefully the next batch is Sept 29 29 and Oct 6! Just a guess though

Yea waiting sucks! My mom called me today and when the phone rang I almost pooped my pants haha... Im sure many of you had similar experiences.

I JUST GOT THE CALL!!! NAVY CLASS OF 2016!!!!! Had to wait until 1700 Eastern time to hear, but the wait was worth it. I interviewed on 9/22... not even a month between interview and acceptance, that's a great turnaround for medical school.

Congrats to all the other people who were accepted today! If you haven't heard yet, stay strong! It'll come when you least expect it!

Perhaps. But it seemed that last year the calls were in the evenings. At any rate, hang in there and try to keep busy. Interestingly, my call came this AM when I had finally let it go, thinking I wouldn't get a call today...that made it more of a surprise! 😛

HOPE REBORN!! Congratulations man!

Accepted! First choice of Navy! I interviewed 9/15. I am so happy I'm crying right now.

Congrats buddy! Keeping the hope alive. Sorry I've just had a lot of things happen to me since the interview and it's really had me bummed. I'll try and stay strong. Reassuring that they call for multiple days though.

Deadguydoc looks like its just me and you left for 9/15 9/22

jvqd, you two are not the only ones. I am from 9/15. Good luck to all those still waiting! Also, congrats to all those who have heard good news!🙂

Yup, there are still a few of us out there... even more who don't visit SDN regularly (or at all). I wouldnt say we are doomed unless Nov. 1 passes without any news. I don't know if I could mentally hold out until Nov. 1st though. I may explode.

I feel the same way. I am so overwhelmed from waiting. This is too hard.

Fingers crossed that they still call tomorrow 🙁

I can't wait another two weeks!

Just had my physical. Felt like the small-talk during my breast exam was another interview lol As he was groping around, it was like "why medicine" "why military med" etc etc It was just funny imo  I was definitely expecting worse for the physical though, so I guess that's good.

Anyways, grats to everyone who has heard!! that's so awesome!! I hope to hear in the next batch since I interviewed on 9/29!

are 9/13 interviews all done???????does that mean my friend didn't get in?? ( he interviewed on 9/13)

There weren't any interviews on 9/13 this year. There were 9/13 interviews last year, and if he interviewed last year and hasn't heard by now..... yeah he probably didn't get in.

So I assume there are no calls today? 🙁🙁

Hi,

I am one of the student government officers in the class of 2014 at USUHS. For those of you that will be interviewing on 10/20, the students are inviting interviewees to come out and have an informal dinner with us the night before (10/19). The details are as follows:

Caddies
4922 Cordell Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814

Date: Wednesday, October 19th
Time: 7:00PM-9:00PM
Dress code: Informal

The location is a 5-7 minute walk from the closest metro stop(Bethesda, Red line stop). For more information, please contact the Office of Student Affairs.

out of curiosity did everyone have two really great interviews (for those who interviewed)? i had one tough interview and one really great interview and i'm super worried about my chances that i might've blown it for the tough one...

I had two good ones. I could tell one was a little harder than the other but both of them were really relaxed and good

This was more or less my experience, although both interviews bore some challenge. One interviewer had me explain something he picked randomly out of the new england journal of medicine!

The 'difficult' interviewer kept throwing me curve ball questions - challenging my justifications for pursuing military medicine in a way that tacitly required me to craft a response which, while consistent with what he said, did not contradict my origninal statements (if that makes any sense, lol)...
This was typed on my phone so plz forgtive typos etc..

yea that's how mine went too. i had a few contradictions in mine because on my app it doesn't have formal shadowing experience with mil docs (which i don't have) but i mentioned i have informally talked to other military docs and people who have worked with military docs (which i don't think is a contradiction). i just didn't have a really good feeling at all after that interview but my second one was awesome. i just hope the second interview overshadows the first...

I wouldn't lose sleep over it - I'm sure you did great! The fact of your early interview date is testament to their approval of your EC activities, etc...

Also, I'd like to mention that given my past experience the "emotional feeling" I leave an interview with is often a very poor indicator of my actual interview performance.

A lot of times anxiety can be misconstrued as evidence of a bad performance, when in fact it really reflects your heightened sensitivity towards challenges/obstacles that would have altogether skipped under your radar had you been more facile.

Not trying to launch into an esoteric discussion of interviews here, lol, but I hope this perspective offers some comfort from the skin-crawling 'hurry up and wait' anxiety of post-interview waiting....

Does anyone who interviewed on 9/29 know when we will be notified? I didn't catch the date!

Ha, I heard about one of them doing that! The student who led my tour kinda gave us a break down on our interviewers and what to expect, so this girl in my group expected that. Still hard to prepare for it!

thanks a bunch escapora! for what its worth it calmed me down a bit

What else did the tour-giver say? Just curious as some of the other interviewer 'tricks'...

Well the reading thing was the one thing I remember she gave a heads up on. She didn't know who one of my interviewers was, but she said the other guy was nice (they both were!) In between my interviews, I found the person who interviewed before me and asked about any curve balls. She just told me to be prepared to talk about something the adcom wouldn't know about me from my adcom- so I talked about how much I enjoy baking lol. The tour-givers will really help if you ask, and the people you interview with will help too. Everyone wants you to go there (that's the impression I got at least!)

I think you are actually one of the students from my interview date... 9/29, right? 🙂

Dang! I was hoping some people would get the call today... from past threads it looks like they put calls out over a couple day span. Here's to hoping for Nov. 1!! Any other 9/15 or 9/22ers out there besides me, jvqd, and Isis that are still waiting on the call? Lets commiserate for the next two weeks.

AH! I was checking my phone all day too. I hope we don't get holds or those letters that say "find out on Jan. 15." If I have to wait 2 more months, I might die from stress.

I would recommend this. It certainly can't HURT you...it can only help!

Hang in there. I'm rooting for you all!

There is no set format for a LOI right? just spew my guts and hope for a visceral reaction by the adcom?

short and sweet is how i did it. don't make it a personal statement. be genuine and direct and explain succinctly why you want to be there. that's what i did but what do i know haha...it's not like i'm in or anything. hope that helps!

Congratulations to everybody who is accepted!

I asked a question a little while back but I haven't seen any response. (maybe it was already addressed somewhere else?)

....
I'm a reapplicant (wait-list purgatory last year) and I was wondering if they will still have my SF-86 on file or if I'm going to need a new one. I haven't seen any information, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough? Thanks!
....

Does someone know the answer to that question?

do a new one....ive been in the military for 11 years and trust me you do not want to give them any room to reject any of your paperwork. You SHOULD have saved a copy of your last sf86 so that all you need to to is update it BUT if you didn't just take the time to do another one.

You will have to redo one. They do not process your SF-86 until you are granted acceptance into the school. They just make you fill it out before hand so that you will have it on file and ready to go. Make sure to make copies of it! I just read through all 29 pages of last years forum and I remember you. Good luck this year! Hopefully I do not get waitlisted to death as well. :scared:
